What a gem of a site stunning views very clean site, very friendly helpful owners.. We definitely will be returning in the summer. Spent New Year hear and had the best time ever. Thankyou Lynn & Gavin
We were going to a wedding at Tissington Hall so decided to book a B&B rather than drive it or taxi . . . Luckily we found Bassettwood , just over half a mile from the hall and off the beaten track. Room very clean and the atmosphere relaxed..... with fab breakfasts. Thoroughly recommended.
We are local to the area and decided to visit the farm for lunch after walking from the village. The location is stunning with views , the location now accommodates a certified location for caravans as well as the bed and breakfast accommodation. Lunch was a bacon roll and cheese & tomato sandwich. In the menu the sandwiches are listed as ‘sandwiches ‘ and give no further description, so every customer was asking ‘ what’s in them?’ , why couldn’t they list the options, cheese, tuna , ham etc ? The bacon roll and sandwiches were presentable enough. For afters we asked for rhubarb cake , served with cream , all well and good but the cream was OFF !! When informed of this the lady at the farm said ‘ well it’s been open 5 days !!’ , the use by date was the day earlier!!!! Needless to say a fresh cake was offered with clotted cream . Now most establishments would not charge for the cake but no apologies were offered and we had to pay for the cake ! The new owners need to up their game if they want to attract customers to the farm and make a go of the business. …
Perfectly situated just outside Tissington, a short walk to the village, Bassettwood was the best B&B I could have found in the area. Lynn is very welcoming and makes sure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. My en suite was absolutely sparking clean and very comfortable. I slept very well every night which is unusual when I'm away from home. Lynn and her husband also run a lovely tea room on the farm which is an added bonus.
This old farmhouse is in a lovely setting & a great location to get exploring the south end of the Peak District. However, the charm of this property is all on the outside. The hosts were pleasant, but the whole place lacked personality. The room was an ensuite and clean but very much functional, furnished with basic B&Q type furniture. The highlight was definitely some hideous pink framed pictures of varses of flowers! Breakfast was also functional and thankfully the coffee drinkable. Pity they don’t serve British butter with all the local dairy cows around - it was an Irish spread to go on my toast. There was a very amusing Dove residing on our window sill which provided some entertainment, but overall it was a bit pricy at £80 for somewhere that lacked charm and felt average. Please new management, inject some warmth and finishing touches into this place.…
