Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cannot fault this lovely place. Food excellent both in the being and breakfast. Staff were marvellous and very friendly. Rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Highly recommend this for a stay.

Stayed this last weekend with a friend, as we were walking in the area. Really warm welcome, lots of great touches like showing us personally to the room, mentioning that the doors might be heavy, pointing out all the amenities, WiFi code etc and reassuring that, although we'd arrived quite late, that a table for dinner would be rustled up. Room small but well appointed and everything immaculately clean. Staff are warm, friendly and well trained. Food was really lovely and, again at breakfast. Local produce used which is always a nice touch. Gave us some good walk tips, filled our water bottles and were so genuinely warm and attentive. For a village pub, this place gets a huge amount of things right. Would definitely stay again.

We had dinner on a Monday evening, we booked on line which was very straightforward. The steak and ale pie was a wonderful surprise, it was a proper pie ! It was shortcrust pastry and the filling was delicious. The meal was hot and well presented by friendly helpful staff thank you

Well well well… we found this gem looking for accommodation after Alton Towers on booking.com (quickly checked their own website and found cheaper so keep an eye and go direct for the best deal!) and what a find! Very friendly check in, beautiful upstairs area and the room was stunning. Had a great meal downstairs and the team on shift were all so lovely. Brekkie in the morning was a solid 10/10 and definitely woke us up after a few gins the night before! Will definitely stay again when up that way!

We went for Sunday dinner. I had roast beef and my husband had roast chicken, we both had sticky toffee pudding. Lovely meal. Good value, good service, we have been twice before and will be back if we are in the area. Thanks to Matt for a great friendly service!

A fab find. The Crown is everything you want in a country pub with rooms. A warm, inviting bar with well-kept ales on hand pull. There is a cosy, small restaurant serving a classic pub menu done very, very well. This is where they also serve a good breakfast of local produce. Our room was bright and airy, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Staff were all charming and helpful. The bonus (for my husband) was the reasonably priced EV charger. We are already planning a return trip!

Lovely lunch and great value. Would definitely return if in the area. We had the southern turf priced at £8.95. It was absolutely delicious perfect choice for lunch. The place has an indoor dining room, the most beautiful old bar with one of the largest pub tables I have ever seen. There’s also an outside seating area where you can smoke if you wish and it’s covered The village is also beautiful we will definitely be back next time. We are in the area

We had been previously about 9 years ago and it was good then. We went back for the first time and it was still excellent. Friendly, attentive staff. Good service, excellent food. The room was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. Good choice of refreshments in the bedroom and nicely decorated. It's popular with the locals which creates a good atmosphere. We would definitely go again,.its such a lovely village.

Just had my Easter Sunday lunch at The Crown - probably the best Sunday lunch I have ever had in a Restaurant. Roast beef, Yorkshire pud and vegetables all cooked to perfection!! Great service too! 👏
