This beautiful Country House is set in over an acre of secluded gardens in the heart of the peak District National Park. Originally built by The Chatsworth Estate, The Old Vicarage has been lovingly restored and offers a home from home full of character and charm,in the pretty stone village of Wetton. With literally dozens of walks and cycle rides straight from the door and a traditional pub only 2 minutes walk, it is a great base to explore this picturesque area. Wake up to the aroma of Nicky's freshly baked breads served with organic home made jams and a tasty freshly grilled breakfast. We are also ideally located for exploring the pretty marker towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton and the many National Trust properties in the area as well as Chatsworth House and Alton Towers. As featured in August Edition of Countryfile Magazine!!

Just stayed for 2 nights at The Old Vicarage and had a wonderful break. Nicky is the perfect host we had welcoming emails before we arrived and then met with tea and cake on arrival. The Old Vicarage is a beautiful old house with large gardens to relax in.. There are lots of local walks from the doorstep and a helpful file of walks to help you plan your day.Breakfasts were delicious with homemade bread and jams.
Nicky is able to provide information about the local area which is a great unspoilt area to discover.

We stayed for 3 nights in September for a much needed get away from London. The location was idyllic, away from the busier areas in the Peaks, and with so so many stunning walks right from the doorstep. Breakfasts were delicious and freshly made each morning, as were the packed lunches that we ordered for our walks each day. Nicky was a wonderful host and her gorgeous well behaved dogs were the icing on the cake! Our room was large, super comfortable and kept warm and cozy in the evenings. Would highly highly recommend, we didn't want to leave!

We have just come back from The Old Vicarage today, after a 2 night stay whilst attending a wedding in the area. What a lovely place to stay! We were welcomed with tea and cake, shown to a lovely bedroom with a super comfy bed, and a lovely view over the field next door, home to 3 beautiful horses. The breakfast is amazing, homecooked full English, fruit salad and yoghurt (strawberries from her garden are delicious!). You can also choose croissants, jams, cereals etc. but we chose the Full English both mornings. Nicola is incredible! Runs the whole operation herself! Everything is sparkling clean and super organised, she even ironed my partner's shirt for him before we went to the wedding 😊 Highly recommend coming to this quaint little village, and highly recommend you stay in The Old Vicarage!!

I stayed with Nicki for 12 days and it was absolutely fantastic!

The house is located just next to the village pub and 2 minutes walk from the village tea room which serves amazing food. It is also super close to the local attraction Thor’s Cave and easy access to many many many short walks with breathtaking view.

My room was sparkling clean. The mattress, oh the mattress was so comfy that I had to constantly struggle between having a little lie in or getting out of my bed to start my day with some delicious breakfast... Life is so hard! The facility was done up to a very high standard. I was particularly impressed by the antique furnitures and beautiful metal works around the house, like little nice surprises waiting to be found.

Nicki’s food was amazing too. I had fresh fruits with yogurt AND full English breakfast every day. My jeans were not the same pair of jeans after 12 days... Organic eggs, home grown fruit and homemade bread, just the perfect way to start a morning. Nicki did packed lunches for me as well, which was heaven! I had a variety of delicious sandwiches, pastas, salads, and cakes. One day I had my lunch in Nicki’s garden enjoying the sun and there were FOUR different kinds of salads! It couldn’t get any better than that! Did I mention I’m a vegetarian and Nicki did everything to accommodate my requirements.

Last but not least, I made some really good new furry friends while at Nicki’s! I absolutely fell in love with her Collies.

My stay was always filled with laughter and anticipation of what’s for dinner! Lol. This was definitely my best bed and breakfast experience. Thank you Nicki.

Perfect place to stay for local walks. Great room in a charming Old Vicarage with amazing breakfast and hospitality.
Wake up to chirping birds and a rooster’s cock-a-doodle-doo and then sit down to a farmhouse breakfast to set you up for a day in the peaks.

We stayed here first weekend of February, as we wanted to have a base for some walking. This ticked all of those boxes, and more. Nicky was a superb hostess, and is extremely knowledgable about the local area, and things to do. We used her recommendation for our Saturday walk, (We did walk no 7), and then Thor's Cave on the Sunday. The room was lovely, roomy, and a large en suite with a great shower, needed after the walk. Breakfast was plentiful, and we were left wanting for nothing, she even knocked us up some filter coffee for our flasks. Her dogs, including Breeze the cute puppy, were happy to see new people, and brought a smile to our faces as we came in. We would definitely recommend and hope to stay there again.

We stayed at The Old Vicarage for 2 nights after a weeks road trip around Wales & what a perfect end to our staycation.
Our room was lovely & beautifully furnished with a sumptuously comfy bed & a huge bathroom.
Breakfast was delicious with the option of full English, continental, cereals, fresh fruit salad, home baked bread & homemade jams.
Nickys collies were adorable & so well behaved. The only drawback was not being able to play fetch with them!
Would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Old Vicarage.

We have just had a 4 night stay at the Old Vicarage. Everything was excellent- from the welcome from Denise with homemade cake, to the beautiful rooms with such comfy beds. Breakfast was varied and gorgeous. As new visitors to the Peak District, we really welcomed Nickys advice on walks and on pubs for dinner. Such a welcoming place, so beautiful. We left feeling very well fed and relaxed- thank you, we will be back!

When it became clear that travel would, once again, be a possibility the prospect of an escape to the Peak District with which neither of us was familiar was tempting. As others have written Nicky's welcome and unstinting hospitality made this a most enjoyable and relaxing stay with the balanced but thorough response to the pandemic making us feel at ease. Comfortable beds, country silence, good sleep and delicious breakfasts all contributed and the candid advice and information offered with friendly conversation and canine interaction meant that we were reluctant to leave. There is no doubt that we will return; there are several walks to experience, pubs to eat at and who knows, next time we might even be able to express our appreciation with a hug!

Our family stayed over a weekend in May, and we were made very welcome. The rooms were excellent, and very comfortable. There was a wide range of delicious choices for breakfast, including homemade bread and jams. Everything was perfect, down to the last detail, flowers in our room, tea and coffee and the use of the dining room in the evenings. Nothing was too much trouble for our host Nicola.
We also enjoyed the lovely garden with our two grandchildren in the evenings.
