Only stayed for one night as in the area on business but very impressed with the warm welcome and efficiency of the service on offer. Room was extremely adequate for my needs and although the furniture was a little dated it was more than comfortable. Only a thin spread over the mattress through which the springs could be felt but... More

We booked for two nights as The Somerset Arms were catering for the Wake for my brother's funeral. All staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. I'm a coeliac and loved the fantastic gluten-free menu - the best I've ever had! No in-room wifi but available in the bar area

Had the belly pork which was great, very friendly staff and dog friendly as well. Good pint shame about the parrot (or the lack of parrot). Close to the canal so good for a dog walk to work off the lunch.

I booked the Somerset Arms for a birthday meal. On arrival the place was warm with a nice log burner in the middle. We were showed to our table by a really friendly waiter, drinks orders taken and specials board placed next to the table for us. The menu is varied and good traditional food, however when it arrives you... More

Very friendly people (Mick and Loran) serving very tasty Sunday lunches and excellently kept ales. Stayed over using Brit Stop and it was a great start to our half term break. Dog walks along the canal in both directions only metres away with field as well although dogs are better on lead here due to cattle. We will be back.

I had stayed for 3 nights on a business trip. Found the rooms to have no soundproofing at all, so I did not sleep well during stay. shower virtually unusable mostly because of restricted shower hoses and heads. Earlier breakfasts would be better. Food was good though.

We decided to have a walk along the Kennet & Avon canal which is just up the road walking distance within approximately 3 minutes. We hadn't intended to go to the Somerset Arms as didn't know it was there as along the old road from Trowbridge to Melksham through Semington. When we walked in we had a very warm welcome... More

Had an evening meal with a few colleagues at the pub. The food was okay, but nothing special. I think for what we paid we could have expected a bit more. The stilton and mushroom starter was served on a burger bun. I had the steak pie for the main course which was more crust than filling and vegetables accompanying... More

Went for Sunday lunch and had a nice lunch but it didn't set our world on fire. When we arrived the bar was reasonably full so it's clearly popular and despite the small crowd we were dealt with promptly. The beer garden is fine but a little soulless as its surrounded by a housing estate and the carpark. Food service... More

Booked a night on hotels.com for £70 and thought I was in for a standard boring evening in a sleepy village pub. On my late arrival staff were very helpful and duly showed me to my room and explained everything. Room 3 was comfortable with a comfy bed, decent funky furniture, and good ensuite Once back in the bar I... More
