The rooms on the Gorge side are more expensive but worth it. All rooms seem to be a good size (at least on the 2nd floor), a size that would satisfy even American visitors. The rooms are done up to a high standard with coved cielings and heavy curtains. The value for money you get now may cease after the... More

This hotel is an old favourite. I went to school in Clifton as did my two sons. We have stayed here many times but it is getting old and fusty. Some renovations are going on so perhaps it will get better. Location is superb and staff were very pleasant and helpful but rooms and beds need a bit of work.... More

arrived for a weekend having booked a city view and was delighted to be given a free upgrade to a bridge view by extremely helpful receptionist. Great breakfast with wide choice including kippers! The view overlooking the bridge and the autumnal tree colours on the hillside were breathtaking. Unfortunately the weather was awful. Storm Angus and the rest so no... More

We stayed here when meeting friends in Bristol, and as we had always wanted to stay at the hotel so we were really excited about our visit. Unfortunately the hotel was undergoing some refurbishment, which we were unaware of when booking, neither were we notified about this on our arrival, meaning that there was a very unusual atmosphere and some... On arrival at the hotel we found the reception staff to be both welcoming and helpful but as soon as we walked into our room we could hear drilling and a loud radio coming from The White Lion pub which is attached to the hotel. It was closed and under refurbishment and it just so happened that our room was... More

My mother visited me in bristol and has stayed in this hotel previously, however this visit was not up to standard. Before she had even managed to check in she was hounded by reception staff for payment for the stay.thw room was absolutely boiling ALL of the time. The bed was ridiculously uncomfortable and small. Parking was ok if you... More

I was travelling in England with my wife in late October. We live in North Carolina but I spent 7 years in Bristol from 1984 to 1991. My wife - who is a native North Carolinian - had not been to Bristol before and I could not resist going there to show her the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the SS... More

I stayed here for a flying visit to Bristol with my partner. I was helped by amazing service from an American woman, I believe her name was Megan. Explained about parking, gave us a local permit, and gave us a larger room with a view of the Gorge at no extra cost.

We stayed two nights in this hotel. We've stayed here many times before but it has definitely improved recently. The room was clean and very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative was the information in our room said the TV had Sky channels but it turned out... More

Clifton is a lovely village with lots of small independent shops and cafe's. the hotel is undergoing some renovation work but this did not interfere with our stay at all. Our room was spacious and clean and also quiet at night. Parking is by way of a parking permit given to us on arrival. Staff at the hotel are extremely... More
