Booked this for my husband’s birthday weekend in Bristol what a fabulous room with a beautiful roll top bath, super spacious and elegant, lovely attentive staff and fantastic breakfast the next morning. Would definitely book again when we’re in town.

My wife and I stayed here yesterday, (16th Feb 24). The staff were very friendly and helpful when we asked about good local restaurants, the room and views over the city are great too. Very comfortable beds lovely big bathroom nice giant cookies as a complimentary snack rather that the usual cheap shortbread. The breakfast was fantastic too, you order what you want then drop request in at reception and its all ready in the morning. The hotel itself is very clean with lovely decor ,looks like it's been refurbished very recently. We would definitely recommend a stay here . Five stars 🌟

This is a quaint boutique hotel in Clifton, which is well decorated and well kept. We had the top room, which had great views of the city and a lovely copper bath, walk-in shower, and spacious lounge. The cookies, tea, water, robes, and slippers were a nice touch. Breakfast was ordered the night before, and there was an excellent selection of cooked or continental breakfasts, with fresh bread, croissant, and fruit. The service was friendly. Parking was pay and display on the slightly busy road, however, there were no charges at the weekend. There were lots of excellent restaurants nearby (e.g., Spiny Lobster, Urban Tandoori), and it was walkable into the main town. Overall, it was a lovely place for a short trip. The only thing of note was the smell of cooked food which wafts around.

Our stay was following an impromptu overnight visit to Bristol and neighbouring seaside town Weston Supermare. The hotel well situated in Clifton with incredible views over the city. Not to far from the iconic lido and Bristol centre. The rooms were generous in size, especially the superior rooms. We had a roll topped bath which was a luxury. The walk in shower was super too again with fab views out of the window. The layout downstairs is lovely, very stylish and signature Mr and Mrs Smith hotels. Like others the elements the hotel were lacking was around better communication from the staff. Even just to be more engaged in conversation would be helpful. I had asked about car parking options if permit parking wasn’t available. The person on reception just looked at me vacantly and was like it’s pay in display. When I tried to ask more questions I could see it wasn’t going anywhere. My question was in relation to another possible stay in the future, as we had got the train this time. My only other point to raise is the smell of fried food throughout the whole house in the morning. The breakfast is cooked pretty much in reception which when your bedrooms are on the floor above isn’t what you want to smell from first thing. I appreciate it’s how it’s layed out, but maybe something to consider. Overall I would stay again, it was a nice hotel, good value and location.

Stayed for two nights with a friend in a twin bedded room on the first floor. Note that stairs are on the steep side so consider if you have mobility issues. Bedroom compact but perfectly adequate. Lovely bathroom with decent shower and claw foot bath. Robes, slippers, mini bar. Breakfast very good and the tables are set out in the two lounge areas providing sufficient room for privacy and space. Order the previous evening. Perhaps be an idea if staff occasionally popped through to check all okay and offer further drinks. We popped down to the terrace (lots of steps) to enjoy a glass of wine but were disappointed to find it looking somewhat neglected which was unexpected bearing in mind how tasteful the public rooms are. It's in a good position for exploring the upper part of Clifton. Half an hour brisk walk to suspension bridge or Bristol cathedral. Permit parking a great help. I would consider staying here again as it provided all we needed. Just felt that reception staff need to be a little more communicative and customer focused as they are the face of number 38.

Nice Hotel with large rooms and bathroom. Good location near bars and restaurants, and opposite a lovely park. We were given a parking permit which was good. Breakfast had to be ordered the night before which we personally don't like. I ordered the full english the first day which I didn't feel like next morning and it was very average with 1 small rasher of bacon and 1 small sausage, I expect more at this price point, at least a breakfast buffet and table ordering.

We booked an impromptu overnight stay via telephone on our way through Clifton at Number 38, with the online photos appealing to us. My partner would have discerning tastes in decor/quality and the stay exceeded our expectations. Convenient street parking with a permit offered to us by the receptionist. Very friendly, warm welcome. We stayed in the West Loft Suite. Superb, opulent decor and spotlessly clean on our visit. Luxurious bath with robes, towels and complimentary bath products. Lovely little vintage radio playing classical music on our arrival to the room. Minibar available. Comfortable night's sleep. The breakfast lounge was elegantly decorated. Breakfast can be decided the night before with a completed tickbox sheet which we liked. Overall, for a last minute stay, we are super impressed and would 100% return here if ever back in Clifton.

This hotel is fabulous. Lovely room, they really have thought of everything. Nice cookies, bottles of water, mini bar, robes and slippers. The breakfast was 10 out of 10 and the breakfast area is gorgeous. The products they use, shampoo, body lotion etc are lovely. I would honestly highly recommend this hotel and it’s location. The only downside to the whole stay was the hairdryer had cold air so took forever to dry my hair!

Good location, parking available, book a permit beforehand. Communal rooms have lovely views. Room was small and smelly, bathrooms needed a deep clean. Photos attached. Breakfast was ok, not asked if we would like another coffee or anything. Boutique luxury it is not, there are many better places to stay in Bristol, with much better client interaction, more delicious and varied breakfast and clean bathrooms.

Dear MrsBB2000 Thank you for the updated review, we are delighted to see you have removed the comment about mouldy bedding, which of course is not the case. Regarding the bathroom tiles, we will have our maintenance manager re-grout. We have 11 options of freshly cooked breakfast on our menu to choose from, including lots of veggie and vegan, and many options for continental if you prefer. We'd be happy to hear from you directly of any ideas of extra breakfast options you think we are missing? Regards Team38
