I have tried reaching out to Steven Smith, no reply, I even tried calling and my call wasn’t returned. Emailed and no reply, did these things because your staff were not interested in helping. Clearly you don’t give two hoots about customer retention or satisfaction. The team serving would have an inkling that we were not satisfied (at the time of our dining I the 21st Aug). We were miffed when the food was presented, the Hot Dog, loaded fries and koftas were sub standard with very little value - all element of the 3 meals were poorly prepared, over cooked fries, dry toppings and incredibly small portions, £8 for a hotdog with some onions is outrageous - it was no more than a tinned hotdog and one finger bun, appreciate you have overheads, but not even some corn or slaw? The koftas were tiny and cold and again a cheap ingredient. The loaded fries, cold, dried topping and again, a cheap ingredient, you overheads permit better. Very conscious that you had other guests and you are a small business (we support local businesses), when asked how our food was, my wife did state the fries were dry, we would have liked to have gone on quietly and explained the other issues with each meal but being asked if we wanted anything else was testament that our custom was not valued and or you guys have no idea, when presented with a desert menu, I flippantly said that the food was bad enough, in order to invite and open a conversation, instead, nothing and ignoring the invitation to resolve speaks volumes. Perhaps there is a lack of experience? Perhaps it was a one off? Hence why I tried to email and phone. You’ll defend your business and rest on your good ratings, crack on.

Room Tip: Avoid this place, poor staff, poor food and high prices, also smells of cooking fat in side.

Covid delayed our 'big' birthday celebration by 16 months but the team at The Crown went out of their way to make it special. We had 60+ guests with food and drinks. Food was brilliant and staff were exceptional, couldn't do enough for us. I would highly recommend for your 'special do' or any party, great location, varied menu to suit all tastes even gf options and friendly staff, what more do you need! Thanks all for a great party!

Whilst i understand the covid measures being taken having to sit outside some evenings to eat and not others after lockdown has ended does not make sense, £7.50 for a hot dog on its own on a cardboard box is far to much. Staff very friendly and attentive although a fair wait for our food to arrive, Would not recommend this pub at the moment,

Hi David, While it does not make sense to you, it certainly does to us and loads of other Covid struggling pubs who have battled to survive. Not sure what you’re expecting for £7.50 which involves buying the product, having a chef make it, while we consume large amounts of energy to run the pub and then have staff serve it to you, while also paying rent and rates. We must be doing something right, especially on Google where the review market has actually shifted to. Sorry we won’t see you again. Kind regards, Steve & All The Incredibly hard working team.

Very nice pub. We went on a very hot day and it was lovely. We had a choice of indoors, main garden or cocktail garden. We chose the cocktail garden for a bit of a change. A quick pint before dinner turned in to a couple cocktails (The June bug is incredible) and a cheese board. The pub would have been a daily feature of our little holiday at the campsite next door but unfortunately they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so we only got the chance to go once. Would recommend to anyone.

Hi Connor, Thank you for leaving 4 stars and being our 200th review. Really pleased you enjoyed your visit and sorry we are closed on Monday and Tuesday's as we need to give our staff down time and being rural we don't get the passing traffic at the start of the week, like high street restaurants do. We look forward to seeing you again when next on your travels and sharing a cocktail or few with you. Best, Steve & All The Team

I am not a regular at The Crown but have been a few times and always been impressed. The efforts they have made during lockdown to keep trade going have been excellent. I picked up that they are doing takeaways and delivery on a Friday and Saturday and tonight we indulged in the fish and chips... well if you can call fish and chips in a box indulgent! It was actually superb, lovely fish, crispy batter, chunky chips, crushed peas and proper tartare sauce. A massive thumbs up to The Crown, we will be indulging again.....
