Stayed one night for a 50th and I have to say that , for the money, we would not stay again, which is a shame. The first impressions are great, locations perfect, beautiful lobby and bar area, clean, stylish, so far so stunning. However our standard room was incredibly small, the shower room is tiny, it's just very cramped for the price, but the really annoying thing was the heating unit which was so noisy and blew out cold air even when we turned thermostat to 26 when we went out for the evening, came back at midnight to an ice cold room. Staff are great though and front desk at check out kindly gave us free parking as compensation (oh it's costs £26 just to park your car at this hotel!) . We went out to a super local cafe for breakfast , based on poor reviews of their expensive breakfast. Overall not terrible, but definitely not great and would not stay again as simply not good enough for the expense. …

The Gonville Hotel is a fantastic choice for a stay in Cambridge. The hotel is really well appointed, very clean and with lovely rooms. The staff are friendly, polite an helpful. The hotel location is perfect to see all of the sights of Cambridge without being right in the busy tourist area - just a few minutes walk down the edge of the beautiful Parkers Piece and you are in the heart of the city. The complimentary Vintage Bentley tour of the town and surrounding area is a must if you are new to Cambridge. We booked ours for as soon as we arrived and it was great to get oriented. We really enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend the Gonville

Lovely hotel and very comfy bed. We had a very nice lunch in the lounge when we arrived and in the afternoon took advantage of a complimentary ride in an old Bentley car. Zane the driver was very informative and we enjoyed our tour. Some minor issues we had were the extremely small cramped bathroom, and the very noisy air conditioning fan that kept turning itself off. Because it was very cold outside, we were unable to make the room warm enough. A receptionist did however leave us a mobile electric heater, but this shouldn't really have been necessary. Nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but no Green tea available. And the breakfast buffet was rather underwhelming. Would I stay again? Well, only in the warmer weather if the air conditioning noise is reduced, if I could stay in a room with a bigger bathroom and if the selection of fruit and yoghurts at breakfast improved.…

One of those hotels that should be better. Its not cheap. Air conditioning in bedroom 128 has a life of its own - noisy and turns itself on at any time of the day or night. Fire alarm went off early morning. Always an experience. Used fire exit and eventually arrived at reception (with 2 other couples). Utterly disinterested receptionist told us it had been set off by a toaster in the dining room. Asked why they hadn't bothered to inform that it was not an emergency, were told that they couldn't ring all of the rooms. This person needs to be trained in customer relations. The experience left a negative memory. Breakfast was ok. Staff need training in carrying out simple requests. All in all, I would not stay here again. Not what you would expect from a £200/night hotel.

Beautiful Hotel elegant contemporary. Classic double room, spacious and well appointed. Sadly no minibar/fridge. Staff were polite, attentive and service was excellent. All in all a delightful stay.

I celebrated my wedding at the hotel and it was absolutely amazing. The room where the wedding was held is stunning, so there was no need to pay for any decoration. The staff was always kind and super helpful. Many of the guests who were travelling from abroad, as well as I, stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights, and the rooms were beautiful and well equipped. I stayed at other hotels in Cambridge, and I have to say this is my favourite one. It is perfectly located (close to the train station and the city center), but it is also quiet and relaxed. The bar is great and the restaurant has great food.

The rooms are so comfortable; the staff are lovely and the food is delicious. We have been before and will stay again. It is so nice to have the treats of a lovely coffee machine in the room along with a fluffy bathrobe and exceedingly comfy bed. It all goes to make a special stay.
