As it was a late booking, during graduation week, I am not sure if the room I had (room 136) would be normally let. However, the single room I had was certainly past its best! A small room with positives of a comfy bed and adequate bedding. Also, tea/coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. It did have a window which opened but, as it was out to the fire exit and flat roof area (therefore easily accessible), I did not feel comfortable to sleep with it open, despite the heat.
Ensuite was compact and space adequate. However, the sink was badly cracked, the toilet roll fell in the loo when I took a towel down. Also, there were instructions to close the shower door when showering - this did not close as too large for the opening. Other issues were that the folding ensuite door bashed into the bedside cabinet and did not remain closed (my bag proved a useful prop). Also, the wall mirror fell off the wall when I closed the door!
Despite these niggles, the staff were delightful: I arrived well past check in time and was welcomed without any reprimand. Day staff were also very pleasant and helpful.
The 'grab and go' breakfast was adequate with a selection of pastries, yoghurts, fruit and boiled eggs - plus tea and coffee.
The hotel is really well situated within an easy stroll of the main colleges. I imagine that many of the other rooms are much better appointed and, should I come to Cambridge again, I may well stay at the Lensfield again.

I had a one night stay at the Lensfield Hotel, which is just a short walk from Cambridge city centre, its attractions and university departments.

The room was clean and well-presented, the bathroom maybe a little tired. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Continental breakfast was included and surpassed expectations with regards to the range of items.

My room was front facing, which meant there was some noise from the road. The nearby bar's live music finished promptly at 11pm (it was a Friday night), but the hotel is NOT on a main thoroughfare where you might be disturbed by late night revellers. It is probably also fine during months where the window does not need to be opened - it was warm during my visit.

The wifi worked reliably.

Booked for overnight stay with teenagers so booked two rooms. Very helpful and moved our rooms at check-in so we were as near to being next to each other as possible. We managed to bag one of the limited car parking spaces too which was ideal, although the hotel had pre-advised us of a free parking option close by if needed which was good to have as back up. Perfect location for our short stay as very central and easy to walk everywhere. Breakfast disappointing, however, they were still running 'grab & go' so was pretty limited and had made a good effort. Twin room had no air conditioning so VERY hot and even with the window fully open it was too hot to sleep properly. The deluxe room had no opening window, but had air conditioning which was perfect. Clean, simply decorated rooms, comfortable bed with a few toiletries included. Extra helpful staff and they even let us keep our car parking space after check out while we had a final explore of the city before departure. Overall great location and service, would definitely book here again.

We stayed here for a weekend getaway in Cambridge this weekend and were extremely impressed with the hotel. We were able to park at the hotel, but if not there are a couple of car parks locally too which we had scouted out just in case.

Firstly, the staff were amazing here. It's a family owned and run hotel, and they went the extra mile to make the stay great. They have a number of covid measures in place, however it works well and doesn't impact on check in experience.

The hotel is in an old building, which gives it charactor, however the room was modern and fresh. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a fan and extra heater in the room depending on how you like the temperature.

The room was a good size with a full length mirror, and dressing table.

The bathroom was very modern, with a good size shower (good pressure in the water too).

Breakfast was fantastic. Obviously with covid there are a number of measures in place, but the selection was great. Cereal, fruit, yoghurts, OJ, plenty of cakes and pastries, and tea and coffee.

We walked into the city centre and it's a pleasant walk, with some great buildings along the way.

Overall this was a fantastic stay and we will definitely come here again when we stay in Cambridge next.

Thank you!

We stayed here for the Easter holiday. We decided to go on the train as we knew parking was limited. We paid £9.00 for taxi from station to the hotel.

Hotel receptionists very friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 161, there was only 1 other room next to us and we were amazed that we never heard any noise whatsoever, no slamming of hotel doors which is a rarity in hotels! Our room was situated at back of hotel looking over residential buildings - it was so quite and peaceful.

The bed, pillows were comfortable, the room and bathroom very clean. There were also complementary shower gels, shampoo etc.

Breakfast was complementary continental. There was a good choice and plenty of coffee, tea and orange juice being constantly topped up so no issues of running out! Breakfast staff very helpful.

The hotel is well located and a very short walk away from shops, restaurants etc.

Stayed for two nights with a friend in two single rooms. Rooms were small but perfect for a short stay , equipped with everything you need. Just a short walk to the centre we couldn’t fault the location.
Bed linen was pristine, lots of white fresh towels and complimentary toiletries.
I have to say for the price we paid we weren’t expecting too much but we were pleasantly surprised that it really exceeded our expectations.
Buffet breakfast included was fresh and plentiful and the girls that ran it were very friendly and gave great coffee shop and restaurant recommendations.

Wouldn’t hesitate to go back or recommend to others.
Excellent value for money for a centrally located Cambridge stay.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate my special birthday. The hotel looks very good on website and pictures, but this is all deceiving. Upon check-in we were not told about breakfast times, the receptionist did not know where our superior room was, the continental breakfast was very cheap and poor quality, no key for safe available, and the balcony door was left open, so anybody would have access.... One afternoon we asked for two coffees to sit with out at the front, but they could not make that. Bar items were extremely limited and customer service were non existent. Rubbish left by us by the bin was not removed, and they could not recommend restaurants, even though their website says, "ask us for recommendations"..... In addition, the stay was expensive....

We initially overlooked this hotel as we saw other hotels with better reviews and only booked it last minute. We got parked outside which was a bonus. The reception staff were really friendly. The stair carpet looked a bit tired but our room was fabulous. The room was so much better than we expected. Brilliant, clean, comfortable, lovely shower, comfortable bed and massive tv. When we saw the hotels we almost booked (which were more expensive) we were so pleased we picked this one. Location very good. Plenty choice for breakfast. We had a lovely stay here and really pleased we decided to stay here.

The hotel is perfectly situated about a 10 minutes walk to the historic town centre.
The room was spacious enough, though very little storage , and was lovely and clean. There was plenty of hot water and good shower pressure.
The bed was a little hard and pillows very soft, but that is purely a personal preference.
The staff were friendly and although we didn’t partake there was a free continental breakfast available.
One word of warning, the walls are thin! If you are a light sleeper as I am then I suggest you take ear plugs. We could hear everything from the TV and snoring next door to the girls conversations about their hair at 6.30am in the room upstairs!

This is more of a B&B than a hotel. No bar or restaurant and the breakfast was extra (£7.00 pp) & continental. Our room was small & awkwardly shaped, but clean and bright. The bathroom was clearly newly refurbished with a good, spacious shower. Unfortunately they had forgotten some basic details - there was no toilet roll holder, no soap dish or shampoo shelf in the shower and no towel rail, or, in fact, anywhere to hang a towel. We were asked if we wanted our room cleaned as we were only there for 2 nights. I was a little surprised to be asked tbh, but said no as I usually make the bed anyway. However, I had to ask for clean towels the next day as there was nowhere to leave them except the shower tray.

The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel is in a very good position very close to the Fitzwilliam Museum.

If you come by car too late for the 5 hotel spaces, then the best option in this car-unfriendly city is probably Queen Anne Terrace multi storey, 9 mins walk away at £13.30 per day.
