For me, the best test of any hotel is how you feel when you return at the end of a day and the Fellows House certainly delivers in this department. From the friendly greeting at the door from to the relaxing bar and courtyard area, the Hilton standards are very much in evidence, making you feel like you have arrived home.
Its close proximity to the City means you can walk to the river at Jesus Green within 5-10 minutes, with the city centre only another 10 minute scenic stroll along the river. There is a sizable underground car park with a number of charging bays. The only downside is that you are not guaranteed a space as a guest in the hotel and visitors to the restaurant can fill up the spaces on busy evenings.
Our “Kipling” room was very well appointed with all the usual Hilton extras and a large bathroom. There are also suites with cooking facilities and lounge areas for a longer stay. My only criticism is that hard floors need to be mopped not just vacuumed and this had clearly not been done.
The restaurant offers a good quality English Breakfast and a fair selection of pastries fruit etc. The evening menu is again good quality, but the menu is limited. We ate in there on two evenings with one quick and efficient and the other a lot slower.
Overall, Great Hotel and Staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Had an excellent 3 night stay here in mid july. Hotel is a short walk north of the Cam and there is a local co-op within a 3 min walk for any essentials.
As a HH Diamond got upgraded and got a free breakfat. The room was excellent with great a/c and the kitchenette had a hob, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. together with a coffee machine The bed was very comfortable . Bathrobes and slippers were provided. The pre-arrival service was excellent and was able to choose several times for the pool and gym over my stay.
The corriodrs have sensors to control the lights so occasionally found the corridor in the distance to be dark them lit up as you approached .
Dinner was excellent and the cocktails very good ( Especially the whisky honey and champagne based signature
Breakfast ( the full english) was very tasty ( normally used to a buffet) but the plated breakfast with toast ,coffee and orange juice was fresh and hot.
The only issue that I had was that on my 2nd night all the room lights did not work. Despite the best efforts of the front desk staff they could not fix it after several hours ( I was at dinner then had a comped drink in the bar then the pool) so they offered a similar room a few doors down the corridor which I took. I was travelling light so was not too much bother to move. The new room worked perfectly.
Laundry prices arre very cheap compared to other hotels and the hotel also has several free washing machines and dryers available.
The pool is a little narrow but nice and warm and excellent for swimming a few laps. There is also a steam room and sauna. The pool music was very soothing. The gym is very good also ( I did find the red text on the black baground for some signs a little hard to make out at times but this was minor
All the staff provided excellent service
Overall a beautiful stay at a wonderfully designed hotel and would stay again

We spent a couple of days here in November, but ended up wishing we had stayed longer. The hotel is very stylish and has an open feel due to the lack of doors between reception, the all-day deli, the bar area and the restaurant. This allows air to circulate better and means that even if there are just a few people in the restaurant one evening, they do not feel cut off and can see across into the bar area. We were very warmly greeted at check-in by Luca, who was always so helpful during our stay.

The hotel has a considerable advantage in that it is brand new, so everything is fresh and working well. The design is very stylish and pleasing, and that extends to the rooms, which feel so fresh and clean. No musty smell as you open the door, as the rooms have beautiful hard flooring that is so much easier to keep clean and odourless than fitted carpets so prevalent in British hotels. The rain shower was great and the bed was very comfortable. We were in a David Attenborough Suite (the room types are all named after famous Cambridge University Fellows) which had two large TVs, one in the lounge are and one in the bedroom, with a switch in the bathroom if you wanted to hear the TV whilst in there.

One innovation compared to most hotels is the provision of a kitchen in the open-plan lounge (but all rooms have a kitchen area of varying size, not just the suites). This would be particularly interesting for longer stays, especially for families.
However, we did not use the kitchen at all as we loved the food from the restaurant. The first evening we ate in the restaurant and adored the food (which has a wide range of vegan options as well). We were attentively served by Marta from the Honduras, who was very charming and amusing. We had met he Turkish chef, Merve, along with other key staff, at a cheese and wine reception arranged by the hotel earlier that evening. She then came to our table during the meal to check that all was OK. It was moire than OK, some of the best food we have had in a hotel anywhere in the world, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. We were too tired from a day's walking the next night to eat downstairs, but the room service from the same restaurant was just as good and it was nice to have a table by the kitchen on which to eat it.

The hotel also has an indoor pool and fitness centre, which we did not use. Parking is under the hotel at a pricey £21 per night.

From the Head of Sales & the Head of Food and Beverage to the breakfast staff & the technician who quickly fixed a problem with our curtain, we were met with great warmth, humour and efficiency. We will definitely be going back. Simply put, this hotel is head and shoulders above other British hotels that we have stayed in.

The Pros:
One of the two rooms were ready early, meaning we could take our bags up and they give out chocolate upon check in - similar to the Doubletree with their famous cookies!

Additionally, this hotel really is beautiful - they've done an amazing job making sure the rooms are up to a high standard, with teas, coffees, The White Company toiletries and the wonderful beds we've come to expect from the Hilton.

The lobby was also well designed with comfy chairs, books and a pool table which was a big hit with our family. They also have a brilliant outdoor heated area which we booked for the evening whilst having dinner and we loved the cheese / bread / ham platters we ordered to share.

The Cons
Unfortunately, the service and communication was just not what I'd expect from the Hilton. As diamond members we always choose a Hilton hotel and at £250 a night (for the suite) I expected a high level from the staff.

We called the day before arrival and were told the pool was open, but we couldn't book until check in. At check in they informed us the pool was completely booked apart from 9pm (not suitable with a baby) or midday the next day. We booked for the next day and then found out the pool filters has broken resulting in closure on the second day... if only they'd booked us in when we called we wouldn't have been disappointed.

Lunch time service was very slow, with several orders being forgotten and the portion sizes were small considering the price. Breakfast was more of the same - when we ordered poached eggs (available on request) they promptly brought one order but forgot the second and admitted they hadn't put the order in. Breakfast was also missing the classic Hilton touches like staff pouring teas and coffees, fresh fruit etc. The breakfast room itself just felt too small and we had people bumping into us constantly as we were sat next to the continental area.

Finally, they charged us twice for car parking, although this was fixed after we flagged it and showed them our bank account.

We did complain and have been offered compensation accordingly, but it took several conversations to get to that point. I think this hotel will be amazing in a year or so, but for now it isn't up to the Hilton standard I've come to expect!

Dear LSGrant1, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am sorry to read of some of the issues you encountered whilst staying with us, particularly the swimming pool, when i know you were travelling with a small baby. . Following guest feedback, we have removed the booking aspect of the swimming pool and this is working well. We worked hard to find the right balance between delivering a great hospitality experience and covid measure. I am sorry you felt this had a negative impact on your food and beverage experience. I do hope this will not stop you from coming to stay with us again and we can welcome you back to show you the improvements we have made. Warm regards, Amy Guest Experience Manager

My recent stay at the Fellows House was absolutely fantastic. The rooms were spotless and so inviting, and I loved the personal touch of a cookbook in the kitchen. The location is great - just a short walk from the river which is perfect for morning strolls and close to the city centre. The newly launched Wednesday social was lovely and a great way to meet other guests. Those going to The Folio for dinner must try one of the signature cocktails and the scallops for a starter. I was also incredibly appreciative of the accessible menu and knowledgable staff as I am unable to have gluten, but was still able to eat almost everything on the menu.

We stayed st the Fellows for 3 nights in July and the hotel itself is amazing. It is very modern and superbly built with high standards and outstanding interior design. It is a 10 minute walk to the city center and a lovely walk through the park
We had an apartment and loved the room as it had a kitchenette with a sink, hob, micro/grill, dishwasher, fridge freezer and all the utensils we needed.
All the staff were extremely friendly and would always be willing to help.
The swimming pool was small and if there is a family in the pool you can't swim lengths as they will be taking up the entire width of the pool.
The lobby is stunning with plenty of books fitting the style of Cambridge, a pool table and games to play. There is also an outdoor seating area with a fire place.
There are teething problems which we started to notice as soon as we arrived. Instructions were generally below par. Examples include not being informed that housekeeping do not come every day or any instructions about the room. (There were some on the TV, but a lot were not finished).
The main issue I had was with the breakfast. Having spent quite a bit for breakfast , we were expecting a super breakfast. We were dissapointed but maybe we expected too much. . .
There were three cereals to choose from, a fried breakfast with either scrambled eggs or a fried egg on request. If you wanted an omelette it was a chargeable extra. There was sliced bread and 3 pastries. There were a couple of fresh juices and on the second day they were off.
Fruits were in a small bowl and they finished quickly and not replaced as well as some yogurts. Ont he third day we were tired of the lack of the variety and wished we had not paid for breakfast.

Having said that the hotel is super and I would return but without breakfast unless it is improved.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, no faults there at all.

Breakfast on day one was a buffet and was surprised to see guests could serve themselves, given that other Hilton’s we have stayed at the passed few weeks do not allow guests to do that. Food was lovely and great variety.

Second morning, breakfast was off a menu which I thought I would have preferred. Unfortunately the staff seemed very stretched and we had to try and get someone’s attention after ten or fifteen minutes of waiting. The breakfast was tiny ; my partner did not want one of the items and was left with one and a half new potatoes (no exaggeration, unfortunately ) , one solitary sausage, two rashers of bacon, half a mushroom and a tomato on his plate- the smallest serving I have ever come across in a Hilton/Curio.
The breakfast was pretty much chucked on the table with no condiments offered. I also overheard a member of staff panicking as they had forgotten what someone’s order was. Not really what you wish to hear.
Dinner on day one was great and the staff were attentive but you could tell they were stretched and running around a lot. Dinner on night two was in the bar and although there were only three tables and one waiter and a bartender, whenever we needed to order drinks/food/have our plates cleared we had to find someone and ask. I am aware there is a general shortage of hospitality staff at the moment and it was evident at this hotel.

Barely any mask wearing at all by guests which made us uncomfortable, especially at the self serve buffet. Would rather not have anyone breathing all over my breakfast.
The signs around the hotel made it clear they still required guests to wear masks.

The room and the general presentation of the hotel is of a very high standard. The attention to detail in the decor, books dotted around etc was brilliant.

The pool area was very nice. However after going in the steam room/ sauna we wanted some water but the tap was not working . I alerted a staff member who passed by but unfortunately it was not fixed or looked at by anyone in the rest of the hour we spent on the area. There were also workmen slamming doors around at the bottom of the corridor where the pool is and didn’t really seem to care about the atmosphere.

Overall a lovely hotel , totally stunning building and food was great , but was let down by lack of staff. If people are paying £200/£300 plus per night then a quicker and more attentive service is needed. Cannot fault the friendliness of the staff at all, just more needed.

This was our first stay at the Fellows House. It’s a very modern hotel about a 15 minute walk from the centre of the City. They kindly gave us an upgrade on our room, and it was lovely. A very generously sized room with a well equipped kitchen area, sofa, desk and bathroom. They actually had the good sense to have a socket next to the mirror so you could plug the hairdryer in and see in the mirror. Unbelievably rare. The bed was comfy. Everything seemed well thought out and designed.
The swimming pool and gym are excellent. The maximum number of people allowed in the pool is 10. It’s very much a fitness pool, just two lanes. It would be very crowded with 10. Luckily on a Sunday evening I had the whole thing to myself.
We did try the restaurant, but to be honest the menu was trying much to hard & it wasn’t for us. There are plenty of other places to eat nearby.
Two gripes. Firstly breakfast was pretty rubbish. On the Sunday morning they had run out of just about everything and nothing was being refilled. The staff didn’t seem equipped to cope. They kept saying the refills were just coming, but they never did. The breakfast we ended up with was in no way worth £15 a head. It was a bit better on the Monday morning when they were quieter, but still no mushrooms or eggs.
Secondly we weren’t aware of the £21 a night car park charge until we got the bill. The said it’s on the website and a sign at the entrance to the car park. We actually rung the hotel to ask about parking and they didn’t mention the charge. It’s no surprise to pay heavily for parking in Cambridge, but it seems like they’re trying to keep it quiet.

We had a very nice long weekend at this new property and from the checking in until we left the staff were very friendly, welcoming and service minded. This addition to the Hilton brand is one to be proud of, very tasteful design and décor. The rooms which are mostly prepared for self catering are very well equipped; especially if you're staying for a few days. A little minus for people doing their hair, there are no plugs in the bathroom for the hairdryer or other appliances except an electric shaver.
I am confident this will be very popular with parents and family visiting students at the universities in town. Walking distance into town with restaurants and cafes on the way. The breakfast served on the weekend was buffet style and all produce was high quality. Seemed to struggle a bit with keeping up demand and some items were also unfortunately a bit cold. Good choice and quality coffee from machines. Great pastries but would recommend doing something with the bread selection as this is a let down with only sliced supermarket bread available. On the weekdays the buffet style breakfast isn't available and its table service only. I fully understand this but would suggest guests can get their own drinks as we had to wait for a long time to get refills as only one person was available in the morning. Again the team working here was great and always helpful. Overall a great stay but I think F&B needs tweaking and possibly reviewing prices in the restaurant.

My wife was booked in here with a large group for a Saturday night as part of a Hen Party group, just staying overnight after an eventful day in Cambridge. The room was really great, nice and clean and all that you could wish for. The breakfast was large buffet with plenty of choice and was of good quality. Towards the end of the breakfast service one person in the party wanted pancakes. However, there were none left, which was understandable as it was near the end of service. Step in Sushank, he had overheard the mentioning of no pancakes being left and offered to put in a special order with the kitchen for what was required. This is great service and shows dedication to the hotel guests thus ensuring customer start their day with a positive attitude. Thank you Sushank (we hope we have you name correct).

It's a large well lit car park and, to my knowledge, there's no near by car parking. It's only a short walk into the centre from the hotel, worth paying for.
