Beware of Leverton B&B Cambridge, their Deposit practice and the arbitrary and inconsistent character of the proprietor, Wendy Ison. At the end of 2019, I made a reservation at Leverton House B&B Cambridge for the 27th June 2020, directly through their web page. Leverton House took a deposit of £90 immediately. On April 18th 2020, two and a half months before the reservation, and due to the strict international lockdown measures (I live abroad), I was forced to cancel my whole trip, including Leverton House booking. On the 10th June, two months after my email, the proprietor Wendy Ison replied offering a full refund of the deposit. She must've changed her mind because afterwards because it's been over 6 months and I'm still waiting for the refund. No explanation or clarification has been offered. I've sent numerous emails and called several times to no avail. I've filed a Chargeback Claim to MasterCard to try and get the payment back. I guess I'm disappointed on a business that having good reviews online, ultimately decided to take advantage of unsuspecting customers and keep their money, even under these extraordinary COVID circumstances. In case you find yourself in a similar situation, know that under UK Law, a deposit is part of the total cost of something or an advance payment paid for at the time of booking. Leverton House will insist it's non-refundable if you cancel and even write it into the contract. Just because something is written in a contract, it doesn’t mean it is always legally binding, as businesses ordinarily cannot rely on unfair terms like Leverton House is doing. Leverton House B&B has no entitlement to keep any amount that can be saved by finding another customer or cancelling any other suppliers they’ve employed. That would likely constitute an unfair contract term under the Consumer Rights Act. I hope it helps.…
Prior to getting to Leverton House Wendy was excellent in communication and as welcoming as you can be at the moment when we arrived. The room was a reasonable size and certainly clean. The ne-suite bathroom was well equipped and again very clean. We were at the rear of the property so we didn't get an y road noise. The location is fine as there is a park and ride bus service available about 10 minutes walk from the property. The price is certainly reasonable and the only downside was that breakfast is taken in your room and this excludes any cooked options.
This b&b/guest house is run by a lady called Wendy Ison and is a very clean establishment in a very good location. Its location means you are not paying top prices but is on a park and ride route with buses every 10 minutes into Cambridge. Wendy is a very welcoming and lovely lady and serves a delicious breakfast a in with the price. If you ever visit Cambridge and stay over night, i greatly recommend this place.
We booked this for 3 nights at the last minute. On arrival we were greeted by Wendy (the owner). She gave us the keys and explained breakfast and how things worked. Have to say on first impressions was very happy. Lovely and clean everywhere, everything to a high standard. (Despite Coronavirus all things were considered. Must admit was a bit wary of going away at this time, but couldn't have made a better decision and choice. Breakfast brought to our room, Wendy couldn't have done enough to make our stay any more pleasant. The bed was comfy and Queen size I think , ensuite was spotless with great hot shower!! Everything catered for thank you so much we had the most lovely time. walked into town, approx 2 miles and found a lovely bar /restaurant in Fen Ditton which was a lovey little village. The pub was the Plough, right on the river, amazing food and great spot with narrow boats and swans to watch. Also a great spot to explore further, Bury st Edmonds, Grantchester all stunning and not too far to venture in the car . All in all a wonderful time was had, so much to see and do.…
