We stayed here for one night and were not disappointed..staff ( Lynn ) were friendly and courteous at check in and in the morning at breakfast. The stylish room was not over big, but the bathroom was large with a bath and shower.
Breakfast was fresh and hot and the choice plentiful.
Slight downside is old windows that didn't block out road noise.
Good location ( approx 5 mins to Cathedral ) with free parking in Municipal Car Park at the rear of the property
Very good value for money.

Warm welcome from staff, had an issue with booking which was easily (& fairly to both sides) rectified. Shown to a spotlessly clean, really nice room with a big bed, sizeable shower room and a sitting area. Small issues with milk and hairdryer quickly sorted with a smile. Breakfast the next morning was hot, plentiful and cheerfully served. The whole place was spotless inc. all public areas and every single member of staff we encountered was unfailingly polite and gave great service - a real achievement in these strange times. Special mention to Lynn who really went above and beyond. The only reason it doesn't have five stars is that there was no socket for the hair dryer near the only very small mirror (why??), no shelf to put anything on in the bathroom and the drinks prices are a bit pricey. Would absolutely stay here again and thoroughly recommend. Well done all,

What an amazing stay at this hotel!
I stayed in room 4 which actually had a cozy little room off the bedroom, like a mini lounge with a sofa, coffee table and television. The bedroom was beautiful, tastefully decorated and immaculately clean.
Bathroom had a waterfall shower and high quality complimentary shower gel, shampoo and conditioner.
Down to the bar, where myself and friends enjoyed several beautifully presented delicious cocktails, followed by dinner in the restaurant.... a perfectly cooked ribeye, blue cheese sauce, handcut chips and salad, followed by an ample cheeseboard, all washed down with a delicious Sauvignon.
After a great night's sleep, it was down to breakfast this morning, a delicious full English and a large cup of freshly brewed coffee.
A truly amazing stay ! Highly recommend!

Paid for a superior double but ended up in room 1 which is a standard double .
Omg have never stayed above a pub before ,the noise was incredible. The room is situated above the main entrance,so constant banging of the door.
Friday morning you welcomed by the emptying of skip which contains all the glass bottles.
Unfortunately the window latch is broken so does not dull any noise at all .The room was filled with furniture which wasn't necessary (huge standard lamp) A tiny wardrobe with a huge metal desk with a huge desk lamp on top of it .the room felt like a store cupboard !!!
It needs blackout curtains as the shop opposite leaves it's lights on all night .

Great place to stay while visiting Ely cathedral and surrounding area.

Room 4 was lovely, clean with modern decor. Loved the 2 tv’s ! One in the bedroom area one in the lounge, didn’t have to disturb the other half 😉

Food was delicious especially the freshly cooked breakfast. A big shout out to Alex and all the staff they made us feel very welcome.Highly recommend a visit.

Two minutes walk from the town centre, the room was remarkably quiet although a little smaller than it appears in the photos. The staff were professional and exceptionally helpful, food was excellent (Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale are to die for) and there's a modest selection of well-kept proper beer.
We stayed in room 5 and for the size, it was somewhat overpriced. The only other issue we had was parking - although it's free in the public car park behind the hotel, you have to regularly move your car to avoid fines.

Watering hole conveniently in the centre of Ely - fine as a pub, but the evening meal did not live up to expectations and we felt to be over-priced.
Bedroom accommodation was comfortable and clean, although the interior designer seemed to have a fetish about chrome. Breakfast was excellent; freshly cooked.
Just that evening meal: a starter that probably arrived in a pack and from the deep freeze and a vegetable tagine that was way too sweet and probably came from the freezer as well. Fish and chips for my partner just about passed muster.
On the plus side - friendly staff who aimed to please.

Nice spacious room with comfortable bed. Lovely low ceilings and plenty of character. It's on the main street but did not notice any traffic noise. Well situated to see the sights of Ely including the cathedral. It's a compact walkable city which we really liked.
We also had a lovely evening meal but there's only snacks available in mid afternoon.
We were greeted well at reception and were very pleased to find that parking was close and free. If coming from the west you need to take the parallel street behind the hotel to get to the parking. Ely doesn't seem to charge for parking though there is the option to give a donation which we did.

We were in Ely for one night and picked the Royal Standard from the Trip Advisor comments. A traditional pub with rooms that has the advantage of backing on to a free car park which on a late October lunchtime was not full. The welcome was friendly and we had an excellent light lunch served promptly.
The room, number 3, was fairly tight though the bathroom was fairly large – not unusual in wiggling modern facilities into an old building. A good walk-in shower and the bed was comfortable but overlooking the road so the early cars woke me.
We were entertained elsewhere so didn’t have dinner in the pub but the breakfast was fine and served hot and cheerfully.

Clean, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast but what really makes this hotel is the service. The manager was very welcoming and did everything she coukd to make our stay a good one. She even got the chef to drive my elderly parents to the station when we were having difficulty getting a taxi
