Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is well located in the city and really needs renovation. Worn corridors and rooms. The plumbing in the bathroom had more to wish for, took a few minutes to get hot water in the shower. However, we were just looking for a place to sleep so it worked for us.

Thank you to all staff who made our Christmas meal a success. Lovely decorated tables with crackers, everyone's meals were delicious and the staff were very obliging. Couldn't fault anything. Will definitely be back! Thank you very much.

I stayed for 3 nights during the week for work. The bed was comfy, and the room was clean. Breakfast was very good though it didn't start until 7am so I missed it one morning as I had to be out before then which was a shame. Booked tables for my evening meals, though work booked direct and did not realise until after I should have got 20% off my evening meals. The car park is very small, and quite tight though there is a free car park is around the corner (2 hours free or unlimited after 6pm). The bathroom was very poor, instructions on how to get hot water in the shower but the controls were hard to use, either got powerful cold water or very poor pressure boiling water. The bath was a lot better. A shelf right above the sink was in the way, wonky everything kept sliding off it. Toilet doesn't flush great. And can hear everything from the bathroom next door in the room. Big gap under the bedroom door onto the corridor. Windows are wooden, were high up to open and reach, really struggled to get air into the bathroom, from outside they look like they need replacing and felt like a prison as couldn't see out the windows. Room 12 - long walk along the corridor up and down lots of little steps, can tell the carpet outside the room they have used off cuts, was patchy. Just needs updating and modernising.

Period property showing some signs of age and a need for investment but a very pleasant stay with spotless accommodation, wonderful food, helpful, happy staff and perfect location. Only two downsides......noisy traffic close by and drafty windows in need of repairs. Parking is an issue but helpful staff were on hand to resolve inconsiderate parking of others.

I loved the Lamb with it's great service, cozy pub and restaurant, easy access to all the wonders that Ely offers (especially the cathedral and stained glass museum that are next door!). What a beautiful town and pretty hotel. The price was great as well!

Not everything about this hotel is perfect. It is a old building, and parts of it could, perhaps, do with a bit of work. But it would be unfair to give it a four star review for these reasons. There were a couple of very minor issues with our room. But it was large, comfortable and clean and the staff are really excellent. They are cheerful, willing, efficient and well led. The food, both evening meal and breakfast, were more than adequate (though the coffee was undrinkable - ask for coffee from the machine…!) Having parking is a real plus. This was a one night stopover for us, and we will undoubtedly repeat the experience.

The hotel is starting to feel a little tired and could do with a refurb. The staff were all pretty friendly apart from the manager who needs to calm down and maybe go on a customer service course. The breakfast the first morning was very nice, the second morning it was pretty poor. I’m guessing it was a different chef.

Excellent value for money and superb service. My friend and I stayed here so we could enjoy the city one cold January weekend. The hotel is warm and every single member of staff went over and above for us. From offering early check-in to ensuring we had a private table for dinner, the service was excellent. The bedroom was basic but perfectly adequate. It was the service and the food that made this place 5 star for me.
