I recently stayed at The Stokes Hotel with a party of 12, mostly from France, and I must say that the very British cosy family atmosphere left us with a special souvenir. The charming bedrooms and the overall peacefulness ensured a deep and relaxing sleep. Moreover, the food was excellent, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They even set up a room for us to watch all the World Cup rugby fixtures over the weekend.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at this very special hotel. We were celebrating a special wedding anniversary and it was just perfect. Staff here are friendly and helpful both on reception and in the restaurants. The grounds are beautiful to stroll around and because we were lucky enough to have glorious weather, we even got to enjoy the outdoor pool. Our room was lovely, perfect for us, and serviced to a high standard. We enjoyed all the food we ate in the restaurants, much of the produce is grown right there in the hotel grounds. Sark itself is just a beautiful place to stay, a must do. From the walks to the tractor rides, the horse and carriage ride, sunset over La Coupee, I could go on and on. Seeing the stars at night on Sark is something that will stay with us forever. Every person we met on Sark was friendly and took time to chat. A really wonderful break, we would highly recommend Stocks hotel and Sark.…

Despite dreadful ‘technical’ cancellations, disruption & delays - both ways - from our home in Jersey - in perfect weather - we nevertheless enjoyed another wonderful return visit to our beloved Sark in glorious weather & Stocks was as excellent as ever, in every way. Travel between Jersey and Sark is provided by Manche Iles Express, a owned French ferry company and the service can be frustrating. Some of the best fish and chips ever! Our first experience of them being cooked in tempura batter. So crisp and light. Enough to make us forget the raging storm going on outside - and the fact that we had to walk back in it in the total dark! Thank you Stocks.

The room was lovely and spacious. The food was really good and the service exceptional. Special thanks to Molly who really stood out to me and went that extra mile. Also a big thanks to the chef, Sid as their cooking was amazing. The sun shone and we explored the island on bikes.

We have stayed at Stocks on many occasions. If you want a bit of peace to unwind it’s a great place. The rooms are comfortable, the food good and the service efficient. Sark is a marmite island but we love it

I had a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing holiday at the Stocks Hotel in early September. Everywhere was clean and inviting. The food was great and the staff were polite, friendly and informative. The grounds were fabulous and just right for a get away from it all holiday.

As usual we had a wonderful stay in this beautiful hotel. Our room was lovely and comfortable and exceptionally clean and welcoming. The staff had made up an Anniversary plate for us with hand made chocolates and a lovely message to us written in chocolate! The young staff were very helpful, kind and courteous and looked after us very well. Breakfast was great as was the service. We ate in the restaurant in the evenings a few times and while there were good choices for vegetarians as a vegan I would have appreciated more choices. Saying that the chef did prepare a special vegan main course for me and a sweet on our anniversary which was very tasty. This is a lovely independent hotel and my family has been coming here for many years. The grounds and the pool are fantastic and it is very peaceful and relaxing with many quiet and lovely places to relax. We shall be back and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Sark …

This was our second time at Stocks Hotel. Having stayed there for an enjoyable 4 nights last year on a package holiday we decided to book direct this year for a longer stay enabling us to take advantage of special offers and incentives making it excellent value for money. In my experience going back to somewhere you’ve previously enjoyed can be a gamble as places rarely live up to those rose coloured memories. I’m happy to report that we needn’t have worried as we enjoyed this stay even more than the last and are already planning for a return next year. If Stocks isn’t the number one hotel on Sark then it should be: the staff, the food, accommodation and position combine to make it the ideal place for a fabulously enjoyable and relaxing holiday. It’s a short walk to Dixcart Bay with its sandy beach, La Coupee and the Avenue (the island’s hub). You can walk to the Northernmost point of the Island within 20-30 minutes and enjoy complete seclusion alongside fabulous views of Brecqhou, Herm and Guernsey. The luggage delivery service for both the inbound and outbound journey takes away all the stress (on arrival walk off the boat unencumbered knowing your luggage will be safely delivered from boat to room within a short while). Before leaving we were told of some changes coming next year which will make the Stocks experience even more enjoyable and exclusive. From the moment you arrive at reception you are made to feel welcome and the feeling is only enhanced by the attitude of the rest of the staff from room service through to the restaurant staff. We ate in the bistro every evening, enjoyed a fabulous breakfast every morning and not once did we contemplate eating else where, the food and the service really was that good. We stayed for two nights as part of our island hopping trip, pre booked ferry so all luggage was sent directly to our room, and on return back to the ferry. On arriving we had some fun on the tractor from the harbour, walked to the hotel, it was pleasant and not far. We booked a superior room which I found a little disappointing as small, no chair and we had a lot of noise from above re water pipes and other guests. We understand this is more rustic and quirky, but peace at night is important. This was resolved quickly the next day, a new spacious room, the staff are all very kind and helpful. The accommodation is spotless and our second room was nicely furnished in the Dower house. We enjoyed our meals in the restaurant on both nights, it’s lovely that much of the produce is grown by the hotel. The swimming pool was welcome and the library very interesting. We paid for the horse and trap when we left, this really made our stay special. Being fairly central to the island, Stocks hotel is very well positioned for walkers like us, wonderful experience, thank you to all.…
