It was one of a kind, the experience we had here was very nice. The breakfast and dinner was great. The hotel room was very nice and the shower pressure was so good. We had access to everything there and they even had a gym on their property as well. Helen took wonderful care of us, we are excited to return in the future

Stocks Hotel is a very special place, the staff are particularly friendly and helpful and the accommodation and food is excellent. We had a five night stay to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary and the staff went the extra mile to make it special for us. We appreciated the warm welcome that Helen gave us and the chocolates and the home made sloe gin on arrival in our room. The hotel is well sheltered in a wooded valley and sits in delightful gardens. We particularly appreciated the ethos the hotel adopted to help protect our planet such as reducing the use of plastic and waste and growing organically in their permaculture garden many of the vegetables and fruit used in the restaurant and the flowers around the hotel. We enjoyed a tour of these special gardens with head gardener, Steve who was passionate about the way they grow their food and plants. There are no water mains on Sark and water for the hotel is from a bore hole which is lovely drinking water - no need to buy water in plastic bottles! The food produced at Stocks was very much to our taste; all freshly made in house, including much of the bread and the sauces. The outdoor swimming pool was warm and it was a pleasure to swim with the lovely floral garden surroundings and sun lounging garden area close by. The icing on the cake was probably our carriage ride with Ronaldo, one of Stocks two beautiful horses. Our driver, Anita was particularly knowledgeable about Sark and its history and we had a delightful two hours exploring the island at a pace that brought a well needed sense of peace and relaxation to us both. We can thoroughly recommend Stocks to anyone wishing to get away from it all and enjoy an excellent dining and self nurturing experience!

Stocks Hotel is in an ideal central location for exploring the amazing island of Sark. Before you even step on to the ferry at Guernsey, they have given you all the information and options you require to get both yourself and your luggage to the hotel, which is quite different to any other island due to the absence of cars! The welcome we received from Helen was warm and professional and we were shown to our room, another nice personal touch, and where everything in the hotel was situated. Our room was spotlessly clean with lots of thoughtful added extras and the housekeeping staff made sure it was kept that way throughout our stay. They were almost invisible and our room was cleaned as if by magic, we were sorry that we didn't get the chance to thank them personally. Most hotels are finding it hard to recruit staff at this time and although it seemed we saw a lot of the same faces from breakfast through to dinner, they always offered fantastic service with smiling faces and were a delight to chat to. Both restaurant and bar staff were amongst the best we have come across being friendly, but not intrusive. The chef's behind the scenes presented excellent, tasty dishes every day, faultless! Due to the hard work of the grounds staff the gardens and grounds are beautiful and offer lovely places to sit and relax. Our resident team of staff, led by Dan, Helen, Alex and Mischka work hard to ensure that our personal service is consistently friendly, discreet, relaxed, and professional. We stayed for two nights as part of our island hopping trip, pre booked ferry so all luggage was sent directly to our room, and on return back to the ferry. On arriving we had some fun on the tractor from the harbour, walked to the hotel, it was pleasant and not far. We booked a superior room which I found a little disappointing as small, no chair and we had a lot of noise from above re water pipes and other guests. We understand this is more rustic and quirky, but peace at night is important. This was resolved quickly the next day, a new spacious room, the staff are all very kind and helpful. The accommodation is spotless and our second room was nicely furnished in the Dower house. We enjoyed our meals in the restaurant on both nights, it’s lovely that much of the produce is grown by the hotel. The swimming pool was welcome and the library very interesting. We paid for the horse and trap when we left, this really made our stay special. Being fairly central to the island, Stocks hotel is very well positioned for walkers like us, wonderful experience, thank you to all.

Despite being from Guernsey, this was our first ever stay at Stocks. The hotel, gardens and pool area are in a lovely condition and the atmosphere is very chilled and relaxing for guests/visitors.
We went with 2 children (11 & 13) and our shih tzu puppy. We initially had a family room but then upgraded to a suite so we could have use of the garden for our dog. Helen is one of the most friendliest and efficient receptionists I have ever met and she was happy to accommodate any request we had.
The food was very good and we knew that whatever we ordered, we wouldn’t be disappointed. We ate at the hotel every night and all but one lunchtime - as it was so hot. I chose something different every evening but would loved to have the choice of a set menu in the evening. There was a daily specials list. However, choosing from the á la carte every night resulted in us overspending our initial food budget even with the 10% discount offer.
The dip and dine non-resident option does result in the lunchtimes getting very busy but there is a separate area for hotel guests in the gardens, if you want more peace and quiet. Non-residents are meant to leave by 3pm.
We visited before the main school holidays so the hotel was slightly quieter.
Lucy, Cerys and Fran from the restaurant team are lovely. Always smiling and being positive no matter how busy the restaurant was.
One request would be to have more of a set menu for evening dinners and even more photos of the family rooms and suites so you can choose the best room for you before booking.
We had a very relaxing time and we’re really pleased with how are first doggy/family holiday went.

We had a wonderful 5 night stay at the Stocks Hotel. The room was wonderful, well equipped and very comfortable. We enjoyed the welcome pack of local chocolates and sloe gin! The pool and gardens are a pure delight and, as the weather was so lovely, we took full advantage of them! The standard of cleanliness throughout is second to none and clearly it is a priority at this incredibly well maintained, beautiful hotel. We chose not to hire bikes but managed to walk and visit several of the bays and most of the places of interest around the island from the hotels convenient location. The breakfasts were delicious with a good choice of both buffet and cooked. Many thanks to all of the staff who were friendly, attentive and helpful. A wonderful trip to Sark and we would have no hesitation with staying at Stocks should we be fortunate to do so.

Everything about our holiday at Stocks Hotel was excellent. From our greeting by Helen on arrival to our departure, via bistro breakfasts, bar and dining, Stocks staff were cheerful, helpful, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed all our meals - the menu was imaginative and the food well-presented. Our room (in the Dower House) was extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped and appointed - our dog was provided with his own bed, shiny water and food-bowls ... and even his own towels. The boot room is an excellent facility (particularly on rainy days). Because we were so near the sea, we didn't use the pool, but it too looked inviting. You might want to try a margarita from the Bar Menu...

Stocks is definitely the place to stay if going to Sark and is a wonderfully relaxing experience. We enjoyed the breakfasts and had one evening meal.
Our only disappointment was the "superior" room that we were allocated for our 3 nights - in the Hayloft, upstairs in the corner. We had booked it 2 months earlier but the bedroom was much smaller than other superior rooms in the Hayloft and the only window in the bedroom was a couple of feet from the embankment at the back of the hotel, making it very dark. As the hotel was full at the time, the staff were unable to reallocate us to another room but it wasn’t a room we looked forward to going back to at the end of the day.
It would not stop us staying at Stocks again but, if you are booking a “superior room” and expect a view over Stocks' immaculate gardens or courtyard, make sure you avoid this one!

This was our second time at Stocks Hotel. Having stayed there for an enjoyable 4 nights last year on a package holiday we decided to book direct this year for a longer stay enabling us to take advantage of special offers and incentives making it excellent value for money. In my experience going back to somewhere you’ve previously enjoyed can be a gamble as places rarely live up to those rose coloured memories. I’m happy to report that we needn’t have worried as we enjoyed this stay even more than the last and are already planning for a return next year. If Stocks isn’t the number one hotel on Sark then it should be: the staff, the food, accommodation and position combine to make it the ideal place for a fabulously enjoyable and relaxing holiday. It’s a short walk to Dixcart Bay with its sandy beach, La Coupee and the Avenue (the island’s hub). You can walk to the Northernmost point of the Island within 20-30 minutes and enjoy complete seclusion alongside fabulous views of Brecqhou, Herm and Guernsey. The luggage delivery service for both the inbound and outbound journey takes away all the stress (on arrival walk off the boat unencumbered knowing your luggage will be safely delivered from boat to room within a short while). Before leaving we were told of some changes coming next year which will make the Stocks experience even more enjoyable and exclusive. From the moment you arrive at reception you are made to feel welcome and the feeling is only enhanced by the attitude of the rest of the staff from room service through to the restaurant staff. We ate in the bistro every evening, enjoyed a fabulous breakfast every morning and not once did we contemplate eating else where, the food and the service really was that good. Look forward to seeing you all again next year.
