Recently stayed here for one night as a group of two adults and two toddlers. We booked a family room for one night a couple of days in advance costing £45.

The hotel was easy to find and check in was quick and easy. Our room was very spacious with a double bed and two single beds. The room had desk, tea/coffee making facilities, tv and towels. Basic but everything you need particularly for a short stay.

Our stay was comfortable. The room was tidy with all linen being fresh and clean.

The hotel is in a great city centre location so whilst it's slightly let down by it's lack of restaurant there are loads of food options just a short walk away. There's a good selection of bars and clubs right on the hotel's doorstep so great location for a night out however be cautious of the obvious external noise you get from such a location.

All in all we had a nice, comfortable stay and would happily stay here again if needing a hotel in the area.

Travel lodge is fine, its average, it sets no expectations, a comfy bed - great, who needs more? But come on; a shelf in the shower to stop you slipping over every time you bend down to pick up the shampoo wouldn't be too much to ask and maybe a shower curtain that is actually long enough to stop water heading all mover the bathroom floor. And maybe a window you can open so you don't have to breathe in the same sorry old air as everyone else circulated by one of those horrid throat drying air con units. Be great then.

The Travelodge was a perfect location within Chester and even overlooks the Roman amphitheatre if you're lucky enough to get a room at the front of the hotel. If you're at the back of the hotel however your room overlooks an outdoor bar space which is quite loud especially if you're staying on the 1st floor - we weren't too fussed (especially as bars shut at 10pm at the moment) but could be an issue for others after an early night! Our room was as expected for a Travelodge, however we were short on towels (1 bath and 1 hand towel between 2 of us, no bath mat). We also only had one toilet roll which as we were only stopping one night was fine but an extra one would have been nice just in case! It's nice that travelodges have updated slightly to have the usb charging ports on each side of the bed, but I think they're a bit behind with having to charge for wifi. I'm also unsure what the point in having a TV is when you only get 4 channels! Overall it was good value for money especially with the good location.

We have recently returned from a visit to Chester where we stayed at the Travelodge Central ,Little St John Street. The hotel information states “Due to the thriving nightlife of this central location, some external noise can be heard” which is very true, however what they don't state is you also have the constant thumping of loud music from the bar below until the early hours of the morning . If you value a peaceful night's sleep after exploring this wonderful city then avoid this hotel at all costs. We were unable to change our room due to the hotel being fully booked, but they do supply ear plugs in the rooms for your comfort whoopee !!!! and to cap it all they have signs in the corridors asking customers to remain quiet when returning to their rooms and to respect the sleep of other guests.

Myself and my wife stayed over for a wedding, the Travelodge was in nice spot located central to Chester and the wedding venue ( The old bishops palace )
The room itself was basic yet all clean and in good condition, had some modern features such as USB ports on wall sockets and had air con ( something I’ve seen missing on more expensive and newer Travelodge’s )
We parked at the nearby Grosvenor shopping centre which was £10 for upto a 24 hours stay.

Staff on desk and cleaners all seemed friendly and polite and overall we was happy with our stay.

Only slight negatives would be the curtains wasn’t too heavy so soon as the sunrise hits your room is lit up, Also if we hadn’t been out having a few drinks i could imagine the nearby bars having a bit of noise till late.

Overall though we liked our stay which was okay value for money and if we were to be going another nearby event or night out we’d happily stay again.

My twin brother Stephen and I stayed in Chester for two nights ( pre coronavirus lockdown ) taking in the great sites this historic walled city has to offer and enjoying its great pubs, bars and restaurants and as we always do ,we stayed in this Travelodge .
Centrally located, adjacent to the famous Roman Amphitheatre, the location of the hotel is a great starting point to explore this city.
Booked in immediately, allocated a room on the first floor,a big double bed,a large single bed ,perfect for my twin brother Stephen and I, tv,lots of storage space, spotlessly clean, tea and coffee making facilities, just perfect and great value for money, we spent two nights here, loved it ,had a great time ,and when our wonderful scientists and great NHS workers defeat this coronavirus pandemic we will once again visit this city and stay in this hotel.

Things you need to know about this hotel ….
PROS - Great location … air conditioning in rooms (windows don’t open so you need it to work )
Nice shower always hot water
Staff apologetic re noise and key cards but can’t do anything about it or they would’ve done , noise a constant complaint about this hotel

CONS - if you have a room overlooking the courtyard you will have music blasting out until at least midnight even on weekdays, the pub POPCORN has a license to play music until 2 am so when the website says may hear music it depends where you’re located.
Key card had to be re programmed on 3 separate occasions we were only there 3 nights , maybe we were unlucky who knows .
Smokers outside front of hotel
We arrived back , particularly later at night and the security door was propped open , seems to defeat the idea of it really
Little or no storage space, except for 6 coat hangers
Clean your own room now due to Covid , see reception to change towels tea/coffee replenishment

Travelodge are a cheap hotel and it is what it is , there’s another which maybe better for noise . All in all we loved Chester but would not stay here again it will always get customers because of its price point but maybe be more upfront about noise issues .

Stayed Sunday to Tuesday and although the Sunday was noisy, the Monday was quieter. Our room was facing the internal courtyard to the bar/nightclub so could imagine this providing a lot of noise if busy. If staying on a Saturday night and you want a slightly quieter night then I might suggest the other Travelodge round the corner. Check in and out simple. Car parking also helped with the discount of £10.50 for 24 hours.

Not a terrible stay overall due to a convenient location, not far from the train station and a good base for day tripping. The usual basic suspects in the room: a reasonably comfortable bed, shower, TV, electric kettle.
A 'breakfast box' was a bit of a let down; it wasn't exactly cheap, but (once you found out you had to actually go collect it from the reception in the morning), you got some cornflakes, milk, a flapjack, a small carton of orange juice, and a pretty poor pain au chocolat. We stayed 4 nights, but ended up only claiming 1 breakfast box per person (even though we paid for 4pp at the time of the booking), opting for a pub breakfast for the rest of the stay.
The room was over a pub that played extremely loud music until late at night over the weekend. Unfortunately, there were no other rooms available to swap, but the receptionist acknowledged the inconvenience and promised a 50% discount applied to our next stay at Travelodge. I’m still waiting to receive an email confirming that.

We had read the reviews regarding the noise before arriving so specifically asked to be put on the quiet side of the hotel before arrival. The hotel staff were accommodating, they even let us check in 45 minutes early. The room itself is extremely basic, the windows don't open and it smelled a bit damp. But honestly, it's cheap, in a really good location and the beds were super comfy! Don't know what more you want really, if you are staying in Chester for more than one night I probably wouldn't stay here as its super basic and doesn't have the usual mod-cons you would expect from a normal hotel. We booked last minute so a room cost us £115 but normally I think they are a lot cheaper.

Yes that would be OK. If you want a quiet room then request one. Rooms are good as are beds and the hotel is very central right in the heart of the city.
