Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely hotel. Nice touches in the room. There’s a fridge with water and soft drinks which are complimentary. There’s also a selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate. Very comfortable bed, large shower with lovely toiletries, and the breakfast was great. I would definitely stay in this chain again.

Truly such a beautiful place! Myself and my husband stayed for a couple nights, The hotel is so homely but modern at the same time! The bedroom we had was beautiful!! We had such a lovely day walking the city walls of Chester and to come back to The Hotel Indigo after a long day walking around, to feel such at ease was incredible! Breakfast the next morning was delicious!!! I had the eggs Benedict and wow, We both also loved the fact that we could see the chef making it! I do have to mention the lovely young lady Courtney, She was so kind and made sure we got everything we needed/wanted. She even remembered our names the following morning! She is truly an asset to your hotel. You definitely get what you pay for here! Cant wait to be back soon ❤️

We spent a weekend at this fabulous hotel. All interactions with staff were friendly and welcoming. Amy and Hain (I apologise that isn’t spelt correctly) at breakfast were AMAZING. They really went above and beyond to enhance what is normally a fairly mundane experience in a hotel. Thank you Indigo Chester we will be back

Really clean and modern hotel with spacious rooms. We were upgraded at check in as we’d booked directly through the hotel as an IHG member which was a nice additional. It also meant that the snacks and soft drinks in the mini bar were free of charge. The rooms were spacious, bathroom little on the small size compared to the size of our room itself. Beds are ridiculously hard but otherwise a comfortable stay. One bug bear with the room was the lighting. At reception they’d said there was a mains switch by the door and another by the bed but no matter what we did, some lights worked and others didn’t. The switches by my side of the bed did absolutely nothing. It also meant in the middle of the night we had to switch on everything to get the bathroom light to work! We had breakfast included as we’d booked in advance via the hotel website directly so it gets included. If you don’t have it included I wouldn’t bother (it’s £20 per person usually) and definitely isn’t worth £20. Service at breakfast was haphazard. We waited at the greeting desk and two staff came over to welcome us to then have another guy who was making tea shouting at them to leave us to him to deal with… making our wait longer. We were sat down and told someone would take our order but then were ignored for about 20 mins despite there being 3/4 staff for a relatively small breakfast area. It wasn’t well managed and I don’t think anyone had been trained properly. Food was okay for breakfast. Buffet isn’t as good as other hotels I’ve stayed in and portions were small for the price if you’d paid the £20. I’d go to the Wetherspoons round the corner!

Room Tip: It’s not massively clear on their website about parking and the location of it. Go to the pepper...

We’ve stayed at ‘hotel indigo’ in Durham and the one in Chester is just as fabulous! You’re always greeted with a smile, a warm welcome and informative staff. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and everything was clean. It’s a nice touch that you get little treats in your room! We didn’t eat in the hotel but we enjoyed a few drinks. My only advice would be to pack a fan and your own hairdryer. I usually take mine but I forgot, and the hotel hair dryer is extremely slow. The room was really hot and you couldn’t open the window (402) we had the room temp at the lowest it would go and it was unbearably warm through the night, I can’t imagine it in summer so I’d take a fan, it wouldn’t put my off staying. Reasonably priced and right in the centre of Chester.

Booked a stay here for our wedding anniversary and have to say it was amazing. The room was superb, and the staff were super friendly, and the location is just perfect. Under a 10-minute walk from the station. Would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be going back. 👌

Highly recommend Hotel Indigo. We had an issue upon arrival however it was dealt with extremely quickly. The room was gorgeous and had everything we'd need, lovely views from the balcony. Location was great and staff were all very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was 10/10! Honestly I have no negatives throughout our stay.

On arrival we had a very warm welcome from Steve, he was very informative about the hotel and surrounding area. He always asked if we needed anything and was always very friendly and courteous. All of the staff were very kind and nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was lovely and we were served by Tim. He was also very informative about the hotel and other locations The service he gave us at breakfast was amazing. The food is delicious and speaks for itself. If you get chance to go, you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be returning!
