We have just got back from visiting and this hotel has lots of positives. The location is perfect straight across from the train station and 5 mins from the centre. The building is very grand and beautiful architecture. We got a wowcher deal and got so lucky with a beautiful room that had a freestanding bath and walk in shower. Can't fault the room. Staff were also very on the ball, at reception they were efficient and because our room wasn't ready when we arrived they gave us a free drink each in the bar. At dinner there was a man singing and playing the keyboard which was such an amazing added touch to the atmosphere. We've rated it 4 star rather than 5 because of a few small issues. Food at dinner was nice but the only thing that was amazing was the halloumi chips the rest of the food was very average so we was glad it was in a deal rather than paying separate for them. Again staff were great. In the morning for breakfast it was very busy even though they had set times. A girl came straight away offering coffee and tea which she was carrying around, however this was cold so had to ask for another hot drink which she did make and bring over. There were queues for hot breakfast and then you had to queue again for toast which a girl was serving but she was putting the toast in 2 or 3 times rather than putting the heat up or maybe the machine wasn't working but either way by the time you got your toast the rest of your breakfast had gone cold so this needs evaluating. I was also surprised that the continental breakfast was very minimal only cereal, yogurt and oranges and no pastries which I've never known at even lower starred hotels. This place has such potential to be amazing and the issues raised are all easy enough to solve. They seem to have sorted the staff out from other reviews I've read as they were all very polite and efficient.

A group of 10 of us go away twice a year and I have to say this hotel was one of our better choices. Beautiful rooms, very big and roomy and all the public rooms were nicely decorated and in keeping with the style of the building. The lobby was beautifully done and the staff were very helpful. There is a lovely garden seating area to enjoy pre-dinner drinks in style. The breakfasts were delicious. The hotel was right next to the train station and within easy walking distance to the city. We all had a lovely weekend break here. Thank you.
