As this was a complimentary stay after a poor first stay we were disappointed. We were given a complimentary overnight stay with dinner bed and breakfast. Checked in ok, got got to our room, which hadn’t been cleaned properly as there was a satchel of tablets left on the bathroom floor ! Not good in these Covid times ! Booked a table in the restaurant only ti be told our booking could not be found. Ordered our meal which was very basic, batter on the fish burnt. The wine menu is misleading with the measurements as they only show medium small and large but don’t state this. The room are big but very hot and the shower is not very good. It has took nearly to years to use this complimentary stay due to covid and then the hotel cancelling the reopening twice, we won’t be rushing back here. The hotel is in need of updating Pity a little more effort wasn’t put in with it being a complimentary stay after our first was a shambles.

We booked this through buyagift.com, this was a wedding gift and we had to pay an extra £38 in addition to redeeming our voucher. As we'd had to cancel our honeymoon due to Covid, we were really looking forward to our stay. At check in we were informed that we had to pay an additional £75, I explained to the receptionist that we had redeemed our voucher and also paid an additional amount so this was incorrect. She then asked if we could send her a copy of the email confirming this, which straight away put a downer on our evening. We then asked if we could book a meal in the restaurant and was informed that the restaurant was fully booked. We went to our room which was very basic and had an electrical socket loose on the wall. We tried to ring around to book in somewhere else, unfortunately the pub that was recommended was constantly engaged. Thoroughly fed up by this time, we ordered in a takeaway pizza which was not what we had planned for our treat away. Worse was yet to come, on pulling back the duvet to get into bed there was a pubic hair on the sheet!!! Any idea of getting amorous on our delayed honeymoon went straight out of the window. Breakfast was average, the best bit being the friendly welcome we had from the young lad on duty. All in all a horrible experience, would never stay here again or recommend.

Stayed for 2 nights. Staff were friendly and very attentive and the room was clean, however had a strong smell of cigarette smoke as a non smoker this was not pleasant. The carpets and wallpaper were worn and the bathroom floor was damaged. During our stay neither my partner or myself managed to have a hot shower! The breakfast was poor, on the first morning the bacon my partner selected was not cooked and was still raw which put myself off my breakfast so on the second morning we just stuck to coffee and crossaints. The pool was a lovely extra one again the staff were very pleasant and we enjoyed the facilities. The hotel location was good and the park and ride very close by which was handy only £6 in a taxi to Chester in the evening so very reasonable. We had a lovely trip, but the hotel needs maintenance and repair to bring it up to standard we will not be returning and will probably avoid the Mecure brand in the future.

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and was very sceptical reading the negative reviews however I can happily say our stay was the opposite. Upon check in we was given a privilege room which did not look like the photos online of a privilege room however despite this the room is one of the cleanest rooms we stayed in, bed was so comfortable and the tv was large. Hot water and air con worked very well also- we really enjoyed our stay here and actually haven’t slept that well in a hotel before until visiting this one. We was room 258 so at the back of the hotel, noise was minimum- reception were so friendly, the cleaners topped up our tea/coffee, water and towels every morning. We had a brilliant stay, you can see staff have been trained well with all being so friendly- we always got parked which was a great bonus. Hotel is in need of a refurb with the level of decor however if you want somewhere in a good location with parking, this is a great option.
