Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

9 members of my family, from 14-76, have just spent an amazing week at this stunning property. Everything about the main house was perfect but the outstanding feature was the garden and games room. There was enough room for us all to have our own space, albeit in the many seating areas or outside. Sam and her dad were perfect hosts and as soon as we asked a question , over text, it was answered straight away . The house is perfectly situated and not too far from any of the nearby attractions . We went to Cheshire oaks, Chester and the zoo. I would recommend all of them. Would love to return.

We had a fabulous family holiday here at May half term. The house is large and rooms are generous. The various reception areas meant you could be busy with family or find a quiet spot for some down time. We didn’t use all of the bedrooms but the ones we did use were reported to be comfortable and everyone settled in quickly. I think the highlight for our stay was the garden and games room. We enjoyed all aspects, whether playing piano, air hockey or pool. Or enjoying the garden and hot tub. We had some good weather which drew us outside too. The kitchen is large and the range cooker is easy enough to use to put out meals for families. Things that you might want to consider: there isn’t a downstairs bathroom or bedroom in the main house. I mention this as one of our party had two knee operations from booking pre Covid to holidaying 2 years later, and it caused them some issues to be up and downstairs. There is a bathroom in the games room though. The location is great, the village is close to a cycle path and has a tennis club too. There are two pubs at the end of the village. It’s literally minutes into Chester and we went to the cinema at broughton when the weather was against us.

We have just had the most fantastic pre Xmas and birthday celebration weekend at the Manor. The Manor has the wow factor. It’s got it’s own unique ambience from the moment you enter with a welcoming flamed gas fire in the large entrance hall. So many places to sit and relax or have fun and games with the family. The gardens even in a winter setting are wonderful. We had snow too to make it a real Christmassy experience. We also had a terrific storm which lifted the top of the hot tub off as if it was a leaf! The water all had to be emptied and changed but that was done very efficiently the next day. The sauna is a really good size and the games room is superb especially for teenagers. There is a toilet and shower in the games/sauna room. Many laughs were had in the hot tub under a starry sky! Sam was a wonderful help when we experienced not one but two power cuts. She came with a basket of candles and torches. Nothing is too much trouble for her and it was nice to know there was such great backup with the extreme weather we were experiencing. The bedrooms are all en-suite and all have the wow factor. The beds are huge and so comfortable. We all slept so well. The Manor is so close to Chester if you want to walk the walls or enjoy retail therapy. If you want to stay somewhere that has real character and comfort then book the Manor. I’ve just rebooked for next December!

We hired the house for a weekend for a family of 8. Information available from owner prior to weekend, with special instructions due to covid. The house was fabulous, every thing had been thought of,, the cupboards were stocked with an abundance of crockery, serving dishes and utensils. We had everything we needed. The beds were huge and bedding and towels provided. The garden was well kept and the hot tub with lights at night was well used. There is information within the house of local amenities. I can not recommend this house enough for a family/friends getaway,, there is so much space inside and out. Thank you Sam

I have stayed there so many times but the last few times so disappointed booked a room for special occasion only to be given what was a box room. The place is ,or was excellent but sadly they have split the place into long term let’s and part hotel so bit of a let down now Sam was so dedicated to making it the best place to stay but after two bad trips it’s not all that it seem. Sorry Sam

My business partner enjoyed his stay immensely. I live close by but I wish it had been me staying there. Off road parking and utterly charming rooms augmented by a view over the garden which was breathtaking. Great English cooked breakfast too. Recommended

A large group of us stayed here for New Year and had an amazing time. The house was incredibly well presented, comfy and clean with ample room for even such a large group as us. Bedrooms were comfy, kitchen was fantastic to use and the hot tub was a great addition. We did have an odd encounter where one night, at about 2am, we could hear someone moving about in the locked part of the house (a few rooms were sectioned off which was fine). We were not expecting this and it was very odd, especially for that time of the morning, I'm afraid that is why it wasn't quite a 5* for us. Would definitely stay here again though.

Stayed here for a long weekend in last weekend with a group of girlfriends to celebrate my 50th birthday and had such a good time. The house is a perfect mix of traditional and modern with lots of quirky little rooms and staircases. The kitchen is perfect for a relaxing breakfast, chatting and generally just catching up. equally, the large lounge with glass conservatory and window seating is great for a few drinks and chilling out. The hot tub in the garden is a nice little addition, and the adjoining summer house and fridge great to keep drinks chilled and topped up in the tub - could benefit from some stepping stones/path from the patio to the tub as the garden was very wet and it could have got quite messy in the hot tub. the place is so big that everyone had privacy and but lots of lovely communal area Sammie the owner was great leading up to my stay, offering advice and answering queries and greeted us with home made cakes:) It's a few miles into Chester centre and cabs readily available and the Shrewsbury arms about a 20 minute walk was great for Sunday lunch Perfect for a great family or friends get together - highly recommended
