Basic room, beer kept in a decent condition. Excellent customer service. We turned up to find the hotel fully booked but it was not a fault of the staff. Despite being extremely busy (it was race day) the manager went above and beyond, looked after us even and sorted out alternative accommodation which he didn't need to do. The manager...

After booking in for 16 May I have been cancelled due to a wedding booking out the whole hotel. No apology,so unprofessional. If that is how you treat people I am glad that I am booking somewhere else. I hope nobody else actually arrives to find they have been gazumped.

If you're in the vicinity and need a qucik, inexpensive meal this place fits the bill. Large menu, good Hungry Horse value for money, pub staff friendly, individual booths with own TV and pretty quick service.

My sister cousin and i stayed for 3 nights in the family room. We all live in different parts of UK so Chester a good place for us to meet. The hotel was cheap and close to Chester town centre which was what we wanted. If you want a posh hotel with all mod cons then this is NOT for...

Only came here for Sunday Lunch, on the expensive side for a chain pub, the service was unnervingly quick leading me to believe the burger I ate was not cooked from fresh, think it was re heated when they cooked the chips, presentation was poor, I eat out a lot, I have an idea about standards, if £7.50 is spent...

After a day out walking in Llangollen we decided to stop off in Chester for tea on the way home. We had tried the Carvery in Hoole but were told it was over 30mins wait despite numerous empty tables and not busy at all! So thought we would visit The Oaklands instead as you always receive a warm welcome, even...

We stayed in a Guest House a short distance from the Oaklands for 3 nights. We eat here every night and could not fault the service or the quality of the food, which was reasonably priced. The bar and waiting staff were extremely friendly and polite, and there was a good selection of beers and lagers on offer. Nice friendly...
