Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My photos say it all.. beautiful photos but in reality very very dirty amd more like a student bed-sit... very smelly needs dusted hoovered and modernised.. bloody stinking.. I will never be back and will never recommend to anyone. The people running it are rude and don't have a clue how to run a business or what it takes to achieve customer satisfaction. Alot of reviews on their website are fake.. don't by themselves I think as I see the pattern. The real ones are the bad ones.. discusting place but had no choice as the bank holiday weekend everywhere else was packed. A dive of a place

Martin, if i may take this opportunity to apologize for issues you encountered whilst staying with us, we have taken extra steps to improve some of your highlighted concerns. However, we do think that some of your points are exaggerated but understand your frustration after you left us and not talking to us first. Maybe you could give us a call to see if you would give us a second chance to prove to you that this review is totally out of character for us.

What a lovely place to stay in Chester. Great welcome and lots of info given when you arrive. Room was small but adequate and lovely and warm, water and milk in the fridge and coffee and tea also provided. Was worried about the rock pub next door but no noise at all. Close enough to walk to various sites to visit, great Cheshire Regiment Museum nearby and also Golden Eagle pub. Speak to Alison about parking - was free for weekend but need to be informed by her. Would definitely stay here again if we go back to Chester.

Excellent location near historic centre, restaurants, pubs and shopping. very narrow three storey building on a corner. Reasonably sized room. very clean, comfortable room. Small fridge is a bonus. We had a fan. A godsend as quite hot and we were on third storey. Friendly owners. Parking is not available but the owners have an area you can park at night. Lots of narrow steep stairs so difficult for heavy, large luggage. No breakfast tis offered but so near everything not an issue.

We arrived a little early no problem at all a lovely hotel right in the centre of Chester. If you arrive about 3 you can get free parking in the law courts . The staff were welcoming no problem checking in rooms for ample if not massive but very clean and tidy. We stayed for 2 night our party had 3 rooms no complaints the only thing he have to be aware off the hotel does not do bed and breakfast anymore but there are plenty of eatery's around a about would recommend this guest house it's the 2nd time we have stayed there and would stay there again.

So glad we found this place online; everything about our two night stay was perfect. The handsome Georgian building is mere minutes on foot from the heart of Chester, the room was clean and very nice on the eye, the bed was comfortable and there was fresh milk in the room’s fridge so we could have a much needed brew. For the competitive price, we enjoyed our stay so much more than we would have in some soulless hotel chain. There is no on-site parking but if you park outside on arrival and speak to the friendly, helpful proprietors, they’ll show you where you can park nearby (it’s a very short walk away and was free when we stayed). We arrived over two hours early due to the guest house not being far from our previous stop on our trip, but as the room was ready, the owners were more than happy for us to check in early and unload our luggage before moving the car. Highly recommended; if I stay again in Chester, I’ll definitely look this place up first. Note: the photo of the room was taken as we left. The room was much tidier (and the bed better made than I did it!) when we arrived.

Stayed here a couple of times and cannot fault it. Lovely guest house in the heart of Chester, clean, quiet and cosy rooms. Ali and Dave are always very warm and welcoming and always have lots of recommendations for Chester. They were also very helpful pre-arrival with car parking facilities. Will definitely stay here again and recommend it to a friend.

Lovely guesthouse, clean, warm and a lovely couple who run it, nothing too much trouble. Great bar across the road called the Love Shack, great burger, dogs and ribs. Lovely walk along the river, even in the winter. Cathedral is amazing, a must see.

When booking a city break, it’s often a compromise between comfort, price and location, as more centrally located options can be very expensive but are a necessity in order to make the most of your time. We were therefore delighted to come across Grosvenor Place Guest House, which was very reasonably priced and with an excellent location. The reviews were very good too. Before our arrival, we emailed Alison to ask a few questions, such as where the recommended car park was, and received very prompt and helpful responses. On arrival, getting to the car park and then on to the guest house was very straightforward. We had a warm welcome from Alison and David and were shown straight to our room, which was on the first floor, overlooking the neighbouring Saddle Inn. The room was a reasonable size, with a fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and a smallish en-suite. We knew that we would not be spending much time in the room, so the facilities were more than adequate for our needs. We were initially concerned that there might be some night-time noise from the Saddle Inn, but this did not prove to be the case. The location was excellent overall, just a few minutes from the Rows and a similarly short distance from the car park. We would be very happy to stay there again if we return to Chester!
