St Michaels Resort garners high marks for its exceptional service, with many guests lauding the professional and warm staff that elevate the experience. The hotel's prime beachside location is a draw, though some visitors mention parking can be tricky.
While the cleanliness and relaxing atmosphere receive consistent praise, opinions on the rooms and amenities are mixed; comfort and sea views are often appreciated, yet noise and decor receive criticism, alongside occasional spa access issues. Additionally, concerns regarding value due to extra costs have been voiced by several travelers.

From the moment you enter this resort there is a sense of calmness and that you are definitely in for a treat.
We visited to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. At the time of booking, I notified them of the occasion and Madi was very helpful in providing some special treats to mark the occasion (thanks Madi! 😊)
Our room was a great size with a stunning view out to sea. We then headed down for the 2 hour hydrothermal experience. Beautiful bliss! I am not sure how anyone could stay and not partake of this wonderful experience. The spa is clean with excellent facilities. We even enjoyed a cheeky cocktail whilst relaxing on the heated beds.
Back to our room to get ready for dinner. We enjoyed a pre-dinner cocktail first - these are super and look so pretty in gorgeous glasses. We then enjoyed 3 courses of top notch, delicious food. The service was calm and efficient. Indeed, all the staff displayed excellent customer service skills throughout our stay.
A delicious Cornish breakfast followed a comfortable night’s sleep.
We definitely recommend this resort. I would also like to thank the whole team. You wonderful people ensured that my daughter had a truly special 21st birthday that she will remember always.
Now thinking about the next occasion where we can come and stay again…
Thank you St Michael’s 😊. Look forward to seeing you again soon!

We stayed for two nights in August and overall we enjoyed our time at St Michael's. The staff are welcoming and the decor in the main reception and communal parts of the hotel is to a high standard. We paid a bit more to have a sea view room and I was impressed with the size of the room and amenities.
The location is beautiful, and only about 15 minutes walk into Falmouth town, which has some lovely shops and restaurants to explore.
Given the price of St Michael's, I would expect to feel I'd had somewhat of a high end or luxury stay. It's based on that I did have a couple of small niggles. I would attribute most of those to COVID inflicted teething problems, so hopefully they will iron themselves out as the hotel and staff settle into the new normal.
Breakfast was included in our stay and you can pick two options from the menu. The cold options have obviously been prepared long in advance to save time and seem to have been left uncovered in the fridge. It means we unfortunately got some pretty funky tasting, inedible yoghurt and peaches. I understand these changes have meant staff are overstretched, but in future I'm sure it wouldn't take up too much time to ensure these are a bit more fresh.
We visited the spa during our stay. While the facilities are to a very good standard, unfortunately I can't give the rave review I'd like to, given we paid over £40 to use only a swimming pool and hot tub. While I completely understand current restrictions mean areas like saunas and steam rooms can't be open, St Michael's really need to adjust their pricing accordingly.
Having stayed in a similarly priced spa hotel in Devon that allows guests to use the spa for free, it seemed very steep, especially when half of the facilities aren't available.
My final gripe is that some of the furniture in the rooms is worn out. It may not seem like a big issue, but in otherwise high quality rooms, if there is stained, worn furniture it immediately eliminates the feeling of luxury - Easily solved just get rid of some of the chairs in the room or re-cover them.
We both liked the hotel a lot, so this review isn't intended to bash it, more to point out what a fantastic luxury hotel it could be with very small (but as a guest, very important) changes.

Wonderful day at St Michaels spa with two friends yesterday. My friend who was celebrating her 70th Birthday loved every minute of her day as did our other friend. Everything went so smoothly. We started the day with champagne breakfast on the beach in glorious sunshine. We walked up to the spa and everything ran so smoothly. All lockers were fully supplied with robes towels etc so we were all able to feel pampered from the outset. Booking the massages for 12.30 was perfect so that we had ample time to enjoy the facilities and the sunshine in the outside hot tub and sauna. All three of the therapists were superb and we all felt the benefit of the treatment and the peace of the relaxation room. The lunch and smoothies were excellent (I recommend the sweet potato and char grilled chicken salad) and it was a nice touch to serve petit four to my friend for her birthday. We finished our day with a paddle in the sea before setting off home. It was definitely the best spa experience we had ever had.

We booked this hotel after receiving a gift voucher from our daughter. This entitled us to one night's stay, dinner and use of the spa. We decided to extend our visit to 4 nights as it was very long drive to the hotel from our home. We live in Scotland. Anyway, this is a great looking hotel and there are lots of very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant food is also very good and it arrived on time. Our issue relates to the cleanliness of the floors and chairs and the hotel's dog friendly policy. The hotel clearly has difficulty with keeping on top of their cleaning and some of the areas in the hotel were not cleaned regularly which results in dog hair not being cleaned up. This was particularly worrying for me as I am allergic to dogs and I can find it difficult to breath after being around them or their hairs. My daughter also advised that she saw a dog sitting on one of the chairs i consequently spent a lot of my time checking seats and floors and or looking over my shoulder to avoid sitting on the vicinity of dogs. I pointed my issue out to the manager and I was basically told that they were a dog friendly hotel and that they made good effort to ensure that dogs were only allowed in certain areas. These areas include; the whole bar area, the carpeted lounge area and all of the reception area (all open plan). Dogs are also allowed in some of the bedrooms. I pointed out that this was most of the areas they had and I was advised to sit in the restaurant with my drink as dogs were not allowed in their. So basically, we paid a decent amount of money to feel anxious in most of the areas within the hotel due to the likely appearance of dogs which would make me feel ill. This is not what you expect from a luxury spa hotel.

check in was covid safe, although had to wait 20 min as room wasn't ready, so went and had a drink in bar. Staff all wearing masks and guests wearing masks soon as leaving room. Dining was staggered in two sittings, chairs and tables sprayed down after use. Evening Meals were beautiful, different menu each night we were there. Breakfast was hit and miss, asked for toast didn't arrive swapped out bacon for sausage that didn't happen. Room we were in main hotel, def not 4 star.. stains on ceiling, old furniture, room cold and felt damp. Spa was lovely, really enjoyed it, not too many in, guidelines were all adhered to. Steam rooms were a delight. I would stay here again..but definitely have a different room.

Room and location perfect and the bar staff exceptional, very disappointed with the reception, three times we had to ask to get our in room TV fixed and felt a little uncomfortable going backwards and forwards to reception and had to turn it off over night at the wall because the remote kept flashing and also only one channel available - itv! Parking could be a little clearer on the booking option, loads of vehicles perhaps using the spa and there is room on the road outside but just some clear information would have been helpful. Unable to book breakfast on the website before our first day and then was only offered 11am the first morning, so had to have room service, which was ok but not overwhelming! Breakfast in a bap! Then we had booked breakfast for our second and third mornings to not even be on the list!! Given confusing message after booking the gym to use that we had to be in before a certain time and had from 6:30am to 8:30am as our slot to then be told that they had changed the process on our final morning, but not informed the guests who then turned up and were turned away! The Spa was the biggest disappointment, no indication of a cost to use the hydrotherapy pool and it wasn't mentioned, clearly at the moment no sauna or steam room due to COVID 19 but to be charged £25 for the use of a pool for, well we could have 2 hours, but that would have been incredibly boring with not much else to do so it was a bit of a waste of money, use the swimming pool in the gym which was free!! In these current times with such a difficult scenario to deal with please inform guests but perhaps reduce your cost as not all things are available. Overall the location is great and I am sure it is a fabulous hotel, with good protocols in these challenging times but so many things let us down really and we would not go back. Quite expensive and not really value for money. There was also a light on all night outside the ground floor patio area, no option to turn it off and it caused me personally to not get a particularly restful or relaxing nights sleep!

The next place on our travels was Falmouth. We booked the St Michael’s Bay resort with a bay view room and had high hopes from reviews and photos
What I never checked was as to which floor the room was on. It was no 85 on 2nd floor with no lift and no offer of Porter assistance to carry cases 2/3 awkward flights up but I guess view was worth it when there (apart from seeing the roofs directly below)
The new Liner development does seem to impose over the views from the hotel but lying on our bed looking straight out the view was stunning
Bathroom tad small but loads of storage (could do with a bit of paint around base of bath)
Sadly no bottled water in room which I’d assume minimum standard so tried calling reception without success/reply So...had to telephone the hotel directly! LOL Also no fridge or safe ? but at least a few more drawers than at Bovey!
No offer of any room service mentioned
Asked for extra towels and was called back to say yes “when they can”
They came while we were at dinner
Parking was a real issue
When we arrived we found the last space quite a way from reception (note stop and drop cases off 1st)
After a day out on return no spaces at all! Ended up parking in the road behind the hotel
Sorry Not really acceptable to me at £300 a room per night
Dinner wasn’t really that good
My steak was medium not medium rare and Mrs herb gnocchi was bland-Sorry
On the plus side it’s a lovely location facing the bay (if you have the view) and from the restaurant too see photos
Also the staff are all extremely friendly and try to help as much as possible in these difficult times
Shout out to Katrina who was charming and seems to man the reception almost alone! No mean feat
Overall the hotel suited us for 2 nights it’s just the small things....

First the good points - Great facilities, both in the room and the hotel. Staff were excellent. I requested some specific room service on the morning of my girlfriends birthday, and at the requested time three members of staff were at the door delivering everything I asked for. Superb service.
The downside - Having stayed here before and consulting the website I knew which of the rooms I wanted - a great view of the sea. I called and discussed this prior to booking. At no time was I made aware of the "Berlin Wall" being constructed right outside the window of the room. I booked room 348, which is shown as having a large seaview with no sign of any building works. The attached photos show the views from the same window from the website and my phone. Disappointed is an understatement. This is deceiving/false advertising.
It would also have been nice to be able to park my car on site and not be advised of the public car park across the road on arrival. You pay this sort of money, you expect to be able to park your car.
Unfortunately the building site has taken away the best aspect of this hotel.

Dear Nick, Thank you for your review and I'm pleased to know how much you enjoyed the facilities and service you received. I've worked out from your image (thank you for sharing) that this is from our gallery. Honest answer is we missed the caption on this when we came to review the room category names following the neighbouring build. We will correct this as soon as possible and ensure the reservations team are aware to advise of the change of view when this specific room is requested. By the nature of our resort, we do unfortunately have limited parking available on site but are fortunate to have free parking available on surrounding roads and, for much of the year, in the public car park opposite. Best, James

I originally booked a getaway in June when vat was 20%, however the vat rate was then reduced to 5% and the price stayed the same. When I asked if the room rate had therefore increased I was told NO but they were not passing on the vat reduction. This was clearly incorrect as the VAT element of the room rate was 5% as per my invoice therefore increasing the room rate. I was told it had not increased when clearly it had and I advised the idea of the VAT reduction was to enable to hotel to reduce the room rate and encourage people to book. Clearly this was not understood by anyone at St Michael's.
The evening meal was by contrast superb although the service was occasionally lacking.
Tables were not cleared as they were vacated so at one point there were more dirty tables than those occupied.
The room (beach with terrace) was clean though no bathrobe or slippers until asked for and no biscuits after second day as not delivered (Bad planning by the management )
The new building in front (The Liner) does spoil the view and impacts on the value of the resort.
Our invoice on departure was also incorrect in that I was overcharged by £70 how many people check and query this?? especially as online check out is encouraged!!
As per previous comments the only hand sanitiser was at reception and I saw none in the beach house or the rooms.

Our invoice on departure was also incorrect in that I was overcharged by £70 how many people check and query this?? especially as online check out is encouraged!!
As per previous comments the only hand sanitiser was at reception and I saw none in the beach house or the rooms.

My wife and I have just spent 3 enjoyable nights at this hotel.
On arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome and friendly smile, check in was efficient and we were quickly taken to our room on the 3rd floor to settle in. The room had everything one needs and expects for a short stay, a comfy bed, flat screen TV. A nice touch were the Elemis products in the bathroom, but the room was definitely on the small side, had we been staying any longer it would’ve eventually become a bit claustrophobic. The walls were thin and we frequently heard voices, the TV and movement in the room nextdoor which was a bit distracting at times, as were the chattering’s of inconsiderate guests walking along the corridor outside our room late at night.
The breakfast buffet included in our stay was excellent with a good choice of well prepared, tasty hot and cold food.
We dined in the hotel restaurant on our first night and opted for the 3 course set menu at £35 per head, the meal was excellent, as was the friendly service, which continued to be good throughout our stay.
I used the gym every morning and found it to be well equipped with good facilities.
We didn’t use the pool, sauna or steam room but all looked impressive.
The car park get’s busy at peak times, fortunately we managed to find a space on the couple of occasions we used our car, but I do wonder whether there are sufficient spaces for hotel guests, bearing in mind non guests use it for the Health Club. There is street parking and a public car park in the vicinity, but when your paying for a hotel with a car park you expect to be able to use it.
Prior to our stay we were notified about the building work currently taking place in front of the hotel, which now obscures approx 50% of the sea views from the hotel and I suspect this would disappoint the hotels previous customers who had experienced the views prior to the construction.
To summarise, an enjoyable break and nice hotel. We would probably have given a 5/5 review had it not been for our small, poorly sound proofed room which was a negative during our stay.

The hydrotherapy pool is very good value at £ 40pp for 2 hours. This includes 3 different saunas, a Rainforest shower, an ice shower and the outside jacuzzi + barrel sauna. As well of course as the pool. There is no discount when booked whilst there.
We did not use the free main pool, so we're not aware of any sauna. Hope that helps!
`yes. super choice and the children will love the deserts too
Good evening,
We do indeed welcome dogs here at St Michaels Resort. Moreover, we boast a variety of dog friendly rooms, as well as welcoming dogs in the Bay, bar and lounge, Garden Kitchen and Locker.
Kind regards,
