Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great location overlooking coastline and beach. Reasonably easy walk into the main town and up to the castle. Rooms are good, though a not very imaginative; try to get a room with a view of the beach. The dinner menu is fairly basic, as is the food.

My husband and I have just come back from a 2 night stay at The Royal Duchy for our wedding anniversary. It really is a beautiful hotel. Food was lovely and very generous portions. We also had a cream tea in the lounge area overlooking the sea which was just stunning. Nice pool area which when we went was never busy. Hotel is in a great location. You are right on the seafront so can easily walk along the beach or join the coastal path. You can walk to Pendennis Castle, or you can park for free in the car park. Falmouth town centre is an easy 10-15 minute walk. We booked hotel on a special offer so was great value. Bed was very comfy. Only reason I marked down slightly on ‘sleep quality’ was because the room was so warm and we couldn’t open the window as it was sealed. Only way to cool it down was a noisy fan.

The Royal Duchy in Falmouth exceeded all our expectations - from the moment we stepped out of our car after a long drive to Cornwall to the final helping hand, after a 3-night stay, in loading our luggage and seeing us off with a lovely "don't take long to visit us again" departing farewell. All in between -the reception, bedroom, dinner, pool, sauna, bar. VFM - were faultless. Highly recommended.

We have stayed at The Royal Duchy annually for many years and it is always a most enjoyable experience. Food is good, rooms are very comfortable and the premises are spotless. The position by the sea is exceptional. Add to this friendly, efficient staff and the ambience of an establishment run by a family group and you can’t go wrong. Falmouth is a superb centre for a holiday.

Stayed for 3 nights over a weekend in March. We had a basic sea view room that was very comfortable and well appointed. The extra cost of the sea view room was well worth it. The en-suite bathroom had a bath and spacious separate large shower. We had breakfast every day and dined in one night of our stay and found both the service and food to be excellent. The hotel has a very good indoor pool with ample surrounding chairs and loungers. There is just a sauna at the pool side and a small gym both of which we did not try. The hotel is in a good location both for walking into Falmouth town or along to the nearby beach and coast path. We would certainly stay at this hotel again if visiting Falmouth.

A very enjoyable stay at the hotel where we got married 25 years ago. There is a relaxed feel of comfort. The food was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. We spent the following day having coffee, playing Scrabble and having lunch and came away feeling totally chilled.
