Nestled off a quiet country lane once you arrive at HBB all you hear are seagulls and silence.A ten minute drive and you are in the picturesque harbour town of Falmouth, buzzing with its bars, restaurants and shops. You do really need a car so you can travel to the many little hamlets and bays not too far away (Not giving away our discoveries though !). We had a great four days which were so relaxing it seemed we were away much longer. Visit Port Isaac where they film Doc Martin, take the ferry from Falmouth Harbour to St Mawes, travel a little further afield and visit the Eden Project (allow yourself a good few hours for these trips as so much to see). Also lots of opportunities in the nearby vicinity for short walks or long leisurely rambles. Eating out? lots of good restaurants a short drive away but also lots of hidden beachside inns serving excellent food including locally caught fish - seek and you will find and be amazed.
HBB itself is equipped with all mod cons but retains a sense of its history of a working barn -.stone walls, beams etc. Light, airy and very clean. If you don't want to go out in the evening and the weather is warm and balmy just sit outside and enjoy the views, the planting and sculptures (by Leigh himself we discovered) . Leigh and Jan (your hosts) are always on hand so no worries if you had a problem (we didn't); They have a wealth of information about Cornwall and can tell you all the best places to visit. We were lucky and had mostly good weather but HBB was home from home if weather had been too bad to venture out.
Very highly recommended

We had a really great holiday. The journey to Honey Buzzard Barn was a real enjoyment as we took the scenic route to Falmouth Cornwall through the centre of Dartmoor, and across Bodmin Moor, fantastic, atmospheric locations.

The Barn is a location for people looking for quiet, calm beautiful scenery and the sea. We chose the Barn as it has free WiFi Internet, so we could use our lap top to keep in touch with our business, and friends.

The Barn itself is run, owned and maintained by friendly Leigh and Jan Heppell (who live on site), and are always available to offer local knowledge, whether its to find a restaurant, sailing or surfing!

Recently converted the Barn is finished to a modern, clean standard. We loved the high quality of décor, and style. Leather sofas, flat screen tv, freeview, dvd etc. Especially the shower, which is boiler fed so there is lots of hot water. The kitchen is well equipped with all modern conveniences. We were also pleased that we could park the car, right out side the Barn, as we had masses of luggage.

There is a local shop in the village up the road or a large supermarket a short drive away where you can stock up on wine and nibbles!

Cornwall is amazing, as there is always something to offer, what ever the weather. We did the usuals, Eden Project, Falmouth Maritime Museum, and Lands End. However the real joy of this area is that there are so many “off the beaten” track places, you could spend months here, and still not tire! We found all beaches to be clean, safe and well maintained.

We'll be going again - as soon as we can!

We booked to stay here for 3 nights in March and paid £300. We had to leave after the first night as the damp in the bedroom was unbearable. It smelt fousty and so did the bedding. We appreciate it was March and it may be lovely in the summer. We did discuss this with the owner but she did not consider that there was anything wrong with it - despite the dehumidifier in the bedroom! The lounge area is nice, the kitchen could have been cleaner, we had to wash some items before we could use them. The bed wasn't very comfortabe, old mattress and done on the cheap. We normally check TripAdvisor before booking anything but didn't realise this little barn would be listed - what a pity we did't do our homework. Looking at some of the other comments left about the damp by previous visitors and the reply by the owner, you will see that they don't accept they have a damp problem - book this at your peril......

This Barn is NOT damp, these guests had a prior asthmatic problem , I would suggest poor weather was the reason behind this review. We have many happy guests, its about 2 star prices and 5 star expectations!

General cleaning poor, damp smell through out property.
Outside faciities consist of a table and chairs on shared drive.
Owners live in building attatched to barn and have access to inside of property through connecting door which only locks on their side.
Footpath given full view of interior of of barn causing blinds to be closed as windows were aprox 40cm from bottom of footpath on a positive note comfortable lounge, good sofa's, freeview tv and wireless access 24/7 .

Nice little place in a former barn. There are many windows in the appartement and if the sun comes out, which unfortunately was not so often the case, you can have your breakfeast in a wonderful light. The place is three miles from Falmouth on the countryside. It is a good starting place for tours to all over West-Cornwall. the Falmouth beaches are nothing to get excited about, but are clean and the water is transparent and warmer then I thought (I should say it is July). Surprisingly I found a course for running nearby. Around the two reservoirs are small, somtime narrow footpaths which are quite okay for running.

This is the perfect place to stay - well equipped in the kitchen, the bathroom is clean, the double bedroom is large and comfortable, the twin room is ideal for 2 persons and both rooms have plenty of storage for clothes. The living area has high ceilings with wooden beams and stone walls with lots of imaginative lighting, which we liked. The location is great too, just 10 mins to Falmouth, which is really beautiful with lots to do and great restaurants :-) We thoroughly recommend this property for its peaceful location and the owners have used their sculptures and artwork to compliment. We recommend very highly, go see for yourselves :-)

We stayed in the Captain's cabin, attached to Honey Buzzard Barn and run by the same couple. We were met on arrival and shown around. The owners were very friendly and helpful, providing us with tips concerning local attractions (dog friendly in our case). We thought the 'cabin' was lovely, spotlessly clean and more than enough room for two. The kitchen is very well equipped, including a microwave and washing machine. The owners also thoughtfully provided kitchen condiments as well as bathroom accessories. There is a walk in shower and a bath which is a bonus. The location is perfect for seeing Cornwall and we would happily go there again. Excellent value for money. Recommended.

We stayed at the barn mid June 2011, it's location is about 3 miles outside falmouth, upon first arrival we were met by the friendly owners who lived next door, everything explained and helpfull. The barn itself is quite clean and presentable and adequate for a family or couple alike. It's an excellent base for travelling Cornwall and reasonably priced.
The few down sides were with our young 2.5 yr old toddler, he's used to quite a dark room at bedtime and as all the windows are covered in white thin blinds he struggled to sleep initially and woke really early most days as his bedroom was flooded with light.
We also found the freeview tv signal terrible and most evenings we hired out videos from the local store which was nearby, and finally the wireless broadband again was very intermittent..
Small problems for a family with older children who can stay out late but slightly frustrating for us..

First impression - strong smell of damp, only discovered wet walls near to end of stay, but this explained our inability to cure the damp smell. Therefore all bedding damp, and all personal clothing needed to be washed on return. Single beds uncomfortable and bedding could do with renewing.

Kitchen not well equipped, be prepared to compromise. eg no potato masher.

Very comfortable sofas, good tv and freeview. Internet connection not stable.

No private outside area, and footpath route is very close to window. No-where except this footpath to exercise dogs in the vicinity.

Guests did not pass anything other than compliments at the time of staying. Website clearly states walking dogs is from the front door onto fields, it could not be easier! some people are never pleased.( it could have been left cleaner)
