More than happy to recommend a stay here, Rosie and David work very hard at their hospitality, the rooms are super, the breakfasts are delicious and very well presented. The view is beautiful, and you can access the sea just over the road for a morning dip - perfect. Hope to make a return visit in the future.

We have had a most enjoyable week at The Beach House during our first ever visit to Looe. From the moment we arrived Rosie and David welcomed us into their home. Everywhere was clean, tidy and well furnished. We stayed in “Whitsand” room on the ground floor. It has a huge bay window overlooking the sea and across to Looe Island. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided with a fridge. Lovely bathroom with shower and large towels. Comfortable bed and quiet room. We had use of a small terrace with table and chairs at the front of our room. Small car park to rear of property. Breakfast was served in a spacious bright room on the first floor which also overlooked the bay and the patio doors could be opened on a sunny morning. We had to tick a list the previous day of what we wanted for breakfast, so it was all ready for us the next morning. Rosie and David made our stay very enjoyable indeed. The sea wall in front of the B&B provides lovely walks (including easy access to the cliff path) where you can see Oystercatchers, Little Egrets, Turnstones, Meadow and Rock Pipits, to name a few. The lovely harbour town of Looe just a short easy walk, with plenty to see and do here including a wonderful sandy beach. We enjoyed evening meals at Sea Kitchen, Jolly Sailor, Golden Guinea, La Bocca, Jubilee Inn. Looe has a wonderful sandy beach and clean public toilets. Boat trips to Looe Island are a must. Attractions nearby include Eden Project, Llanhydrock National Trust, Duchy Plant & Nursery Centre (careful of the single lane road!!) We walked along the cliffs to Polperro. We enjoyed a visit and boat trip at Fowey.

Cleanliness, attentiveness, breakfast - all first class! What more can we say. We were in the Fistral room - great views, plenty of space, beautiful en-suite. On site car parking - a must in Looe. Just the perfect stay for us. If Rosie and David could have organised the weather for us(storm conditions)I'm sure that they would have done. Carol & John.

Thought I would take time to write as am impartial a review as I can, following our recent one week stay at The Beach House. The establishment has terrific views of Hannafore Point, overlooking the bay. It is also a 10-minute walk to the centre of Looe. We also could not fault the cleanliness of the rooms - absolutely five stars. Breakfast had to be ordered the night before and was acceptable. However, the positives have to end there. We felt that we were unwanted from the moment that we arrived. To this day, we do not know what we had done to disappoint the crew at The Beach House? We can only think that we did not fit the unwritten criteria of the clientele that the owners expected to stay at their ‘5 star’ property, which in this day and age is hugely disappointing. In addition to the above, we encountered the following: The owners never engaged in light general conversation with us for the entire week. We felt unwanted, outcasted and awkward; even though we are decent folk, who have been brought up with respect and are easy to get along with. When asking for the WiFi password, Rosie replied ‘you don’t need that, you’re on holiday!’ (however, it was provided). My profession requires me to have access to WiFi, even when I am on holiday. The WiFi was poor - It would’ve been easier to get a connection on Mars. Upon arriving back to The Beach House on our second day, Rosie magically appeared from the darkness of the Kitchen to ask ‘Are you leaving the extractor fan on, as it will burn out?’. Now, the extractor fan is linked to the lighting in the en suite. We wouldn’t have done that, other than when we were using the facility. One morning we were sitting in the seated area when David came in and asked us not to leave ‘underwear or tissues on the floor’. We were gobsmacked, as used clothing was being instantly placed back in the suitcases and we hadn’t used any tissues. By midweek, the additional pillows were removed from the rooms, never to return. There was one windy morning whereby the wind caught the sliding door, which caused me to shut it harder than normal. Rosie shot to the window, quicker than a speeding bullet, to shout ‘DON’T SLAM THE DOOR LIKE THAT - WE’LL HAVE NOTHING LEFT’. I was offended, but not at all surprised by the response. There was an occasion at breakfast I was missing a fork, so I asked David for one. I think he thought I had stolen it, from his response of ‘one was laid on the table’. He went and got me the said utensil, but I could sense him scouring the floor. I felt like turning out my pockets when I vacated the table. When we were ready to leave, the team were still in the Kitchen (where they could clearly see us). No pleasantries were exchanged. The room keys were left, bags were packed, engines were started and the stress of ‘standing to attention, officer on parade’ was alleviated with every mile gained on the way home. In conclusion - A family-run Hotel which is spotlessly clean and doesn’t come cheap; but don’t expect that ‘home from home’ experience (more Alcatraz), if your face doesn’t fit.

My wife and I stayed for a long weekend in a front sea view room. The B&B is superbly located on the sea front at Hannafore Point overlooking the bay, and has off road parking. They have five rooms and if you can, go for one with the sea view - it is amazing, and perfect for viewing the sun rise. The owners are very friendly and attentive. Our room was quite large, well appointed and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable and pretty much everything you could want is provided. You have to select your breakfast options the night before, and the owners ask you to stagger breakfast times with other guests, which is slightly unusual for a B&B, but this does mean you get your cooked food quickly, and there is a good range of both hot and cold breakfast items. All the breakfast items we tried we well cooked and very tasty. Breakfast is taken in a lovely room with a sea views, and the owners thoughtfully allocate and rotate tables so that all guests get a front table at least once. The price is high, but competitive for the area and justified by the quality and facilities provided. Definitely recommended.

It would be impossible to award the Beach House with anything other than five stars; the views are magnificent and the standards of cleanliness, comfort, aesthetic pleasure and attention to detail are unparalleled. The silverware is polished to perfection, the sheets and tablecloths are ironed flawlessly and I would defy anyone to discover a spec of dust - even with the most powerful of microscopes. The towels are of the highest quality and so white, it almost seemed a shame to use them after stepping out of the gleaming shower cubicle. My partner is Head of Hotel Services for a group of luxury care homes - she is forever scrutinising corners of rooms, edges of doorways and folds of napkins; the impeccable, immaculate appearance of The Beach House was beyond even what she could have hoped for. I wish I felt content to end here. To suggest wholeheartedly that you clamber to the phone and book your few days of old fashioned hospitality so that you too can bask in the pomp and splendour of the exquisite etiquette of by-gone times that have filled me with nostalgic longing. I just can’t. I can’t because The Beach House is a stark reminder that the class system is thriving, that Keeping Up Appearances is as relevant now as when it was first penned and that the Hyacinth Bouquets of this country are as real as Patricia Routledge’s portrayal. Behind the smiles and the manners lies the stern judgement of any guest deemed fortunate enough to enter this high class abode. If your behaviour does not meet the required codes of conduct, you won’t be named but your misdemeanours will be related to future guests whilst Rosie and David chat to you as you enjoy the exemplary breakfast. As we were listening, ensuring we held our cutlery correctly and our serviettes were appropriately placed, we felt that we were being warned: You are to behave in a manner in which we see fit. Unfortunately we fell short of requirements. In fact we dive bombed to such lowliness that poor Rosie must have been close to despair. The family recovered well from meeting my overtly butch partner who has a very obvious tattoo on her arm. But wait, there’s more. After one particularly exhausting day enjoying the delights of Cornwall, we were too tired to go back out and decided to order a takeaway. We were duly reprimanded and truly did understand why we were not allowed to eat in the room - in fact we had no issue with eating on the patio at all. Something did hurt though. It really hurt. Under Rosie’s watchful eye, when my partner went to collect the food from the driver (we’d already paid for) she wore the dressing gown provided. “Lowering the tone are we?” When questioned Rosie had no hesitation in explaining - “Caravan Park guests in a Five Star establishment.” And there it is, in that one sentence, the essence of the sinister shadow of British imperialism. Goodbye Rosie and David. Hello 2019 - with all your troubles, faults and difficulties, we embrace you with all our hearts.

Rosie, David and Alex were very attentive and welcoming. The room we were lucky to have had a lovely sea view, very clean to a very high standard and attention to detail with the bathroom toileties and the room (coffee etc) was excellent. The food at breakfast was amongst the best we have had at a B&B. There is easy private parking. The town is a 10 minute walk away which is ideal for restaurants and the beach. Thank you all of you for making our stay so relaxing.
