The ship inn is a welcoming Cornish pub situated in the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole. With stunning views of the sandy beaches or stormy waves The Ship inn is the perfect place to refresh & chat to locals, or snuggle up in front of the open fire and read a good book. We also have eight beautiful bedrooms (located within the pub and the cottage next door) for that perfect weekend getaway, family holiday or overnight stay before travelling to the Scilly isles. 'There are few things more pleasant than a Cornish harbour graced with a good pub and great ale'

Hubby and I returned to Cornwall after our last visit 23 years ago, the Ship Inn bought back many happy memories and the feel was still the same, warm, welcoming and also safe! The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much for them. We stayed in room 2 overlooking the harbour, what a gem.
The room was light and airy, the bed was so comfortable and the bathroom had a shower which was ideal for me with a disability.
Food was delicious and the special dressed crab was really fresh and tasty.
Hoping it’s not another 23 years 😁 see you soon.

We just returned from a great couple of nights in this proper Cornish fishing village, The Ship Inn excelled in ambiance and welcome, staff couldn't do more for us, we were nervous given the lifting of Covid restrictions, but upon arrival we felt relaxed and assured the guys were doing all they could to look after clients, all normal procedures were in place.

The Ship is set upon the harbor side (couldn't get much closer!!) Parking could be an issue but we never found it a problem, finding parking on the harbor wall each day and a good price £3 for 24 hours!! parking is about 5 minutes walk away through the narrow streets, (I mean narrow)

Once inside the Ship, you step back in time in all the good reasons, no commercialism, flag stone floors low wooden beams the works.

The bedrooms look like they have recently undergone a refurbishment and really well done, crisp and modern with everything you would expect, we has a harbor view and it was well worth the extra cost, to wake up, look out over the water (or sand depending on tide) was great.

Have to mention the shower!! wow I don't think Ive ever stayed where the shower was so powerful, excellent and so welcome, Ive stayed in 5 star hotels where you can hardly was the shampoo out but at the Ship the shower will was you hair out !!! just brilliant.

Breakfast was excellent, as was the evening meal, Fish n Chips best we've had for a long time.

Overall I would highly recommend The Ship Inn, and were looking forward to returning soon for another stay,.

Highly recommended

Thank you Ship for making our stay so welcoming

Great place to stay, lovely staff and atmosphere. Covid restrictions are in place and work well. Breakfast is really good and plentiful, we also had lunch there and dinner, shame about the limited menu due to Covid as was looking forward to the fish pie which is amazing there! We stayed in room 7, bed was a little small but the room was really clean, Elemis products in the bathroom which were a nice touch aswell :-) Parking is in the main car park which is £3 for 24 hours but only takes cash so go prepared.

All comments take account of difficulties arising from COVID-19 & from comparing this hotel to others we stayed at in the same chain during the same holiday period.
Wi-fi & breakfast poor. Bar food average. Be warned that last orders are at 9.30 for closing at 10pm - even if it is busy with many people wishing to continue drinking. Apparently this is due to reduced staff levels but maybe some flexibility in opening hours is needed, especially on busy weekends in high summer.
Bed comfortable & bathroom good although the deluxe room that we had was nothing like the web photos of rooms showing a seating area with views looking out from large windows. Our room was quite dark with a pretty harbour view from one small window, be careful which room you book if this is important to you & if you are paying a premium for a harbour view. Guess we were just unlucky with the room we were allocated.
Overall we did not feel that at an average of over £171 a night our stay was good value for money & was well over priced for the facilities provided. We would not return.
Everything was clean with lots of hand sanitising stations dotted around.
All of the staff was friendly and very helpful.

I had read the reviews before booking but even those don’t do justice to this fantastic pub and accommodation. From arrival to leaving we were treated to superb customer service and care from all of the well trained and happy staff. The position in the harbour is spectacular at this time of year when brewing storms make you grip your beer even tighter and marvel at the power of the sea. We were in room 5 and it was better than most 4/5 star hotels, spotless, looked just decorated, tasteful and above all so comfortable with magnificent dual aspect views up the harbour and out to sea. If the bar hadn’t been so welcoming we could have stayed in the large comfy chairs in room 5 and watched the world go by! Food was very well cooked even if by their own admission a little limited as stocks difficult to get during pandemic and at this time of the year, but we were very well accommodated with a couple of items not on the menu, so very helpful. We will be back soon, not soon enough…

Having not visited Cornwall for over 30 years, we weren't quite sure where to aim for during our summer holiday this year! It was purely by chance that we found The Ship Inn at Mousehole, during an online search - and what a lucky find it was!! We fell in love with the village and harbour as soon as we drove in, along the narrow, cobbled streets,, and parked on the harbour wall opposite! Sitting right at the edge of the harbour was The Ship Inn, in such a picturesque location and quintessentially Cornish. The warm and friendly welcome we received by the manageress on arrival, was second to none, and we were immediately made to feel like treasured customers. All other members of staff were also extremely polite, friendly, and professional, and all were eager to make our stay perfect in every way. The rooms were a sophisticated blend of quaint and modern, with sweeping views of the harbour from the cosy little window seats. It was lovely to fall asleep at night watching the colourful harbour lights twinkling outside, and to wake in the morning to the sound of the sea. Breakfast was served in a lovely, homely environment, with super food all very nicely presented - a perfect way to start the day. We also enjoyed two delicious evening meals which were prepared to a high standard using only the best local produce. The location is also ideal for days out to visit attractions such as St Michael's Mount, Lizard Point, The Minack Theatre and Land's End, but wherever we visited during our stay, we always looked forward to returning to Mousehole and The Ship Inn, by late afternoon. It was a real little gem, which we would very much like to return to again.

We booked a family room directly via their website, check in was swift and we for room 7 on the ground floor. It has a master bedroom and a separate double bunk bedroom for the kids. Breakfast was brilliant especially the sausage and egg bap. Parking are available across the harbour at £3 for 24 hours and normally had space until 9pm. Overall highly recommended!

We stayed at the Ship Inn for five nights in one of their harbour view rooms, with superb views of the harbour and Mounts Bay. Although Covid precautions were very evident, the excellent and professional service by the team of staff was much appreciated,
There is plentiful but expensive car parking on the Old Coastguard carpark. We chose to walk a little further and park for free on the road to Newlyn.
Rumours of large numbers of tourists overblown, but seats in restaurants require booking days ahead due to reduced staff numbers and Covid precautions.
We booked the same room again so nuff said!

Perfect little hideaway sitting directly on the coast. The staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Wholesome breakfast will set you up for the day and you come back to a beautiful spacious room which is surpassingly contemporary whilst also holding its character. The team are lovely and chat to you as though you’ve been staying there months whilst accommodating everything.

Can’t wait to stay there again. Thank you.

The Harbour location is superb and the building is old and quirky. Room was comfortable and clean but felt like the bed was back to front....feet raised without cushions!
Disappointed at having to ask for hand soap, there was only a shower/hair wash dispenser in the shower...no 'range of toiletries' and no hair dryer in the room.
Breakfast was good but evening menu lacked flavour/kick.
Don't feel the rate (high) reflected the overall experience.

There is a car park next to The Coastguard Hotel just before you drive into Mousehole on the right hand side of the road. You can then walk along the road into the village or leave the car park at the back near the cafe - there are steps which lead down to the water front and the path takes you to the North car park. The Ship Inn is on the opposite side of the harbour but it is a matter of yard away.s This is easier than trying to get into the North or South car parks as the roads are very narrow. Its nicer without traffic going through the village too.
