Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in 14 Surf View in the first week possible after Coronavirus restrictions were lifted (Jul 20). The view of Fistral Beach is outstanding. The beach is 15 mins walk, central Newquay is about 30 mins walk. The major supermarkets are a drive away and the only restaurant nearby is Lewinnick Lodge - we ate there, food and service was good. The flat itself is one of two top floor flats (14 & 16) owned by the same couple, advertised through their surf view apartments website (note that in Jul 20 the website shows 2015 prices). We made our booking direct with the owners via the this website. It's also advertised on another well known accommodation site. Other than the location and view, we have struggled to praise this flat. Yes, you can sleep in it, the shower functions and the appliances we used appear to work, but it is frankly disappointing. It has basic accommodation, no storage or drying facilities for wetsuits or boards and is tired in almost every element. The flat fails to comply with electrical safety regulations and when we arrived it became apparent that the flat had been dusted and vacuumed but the contents had not been cleaned, particularly in the kitchen, since it was occupied 4 months previously. And it appeared the previous occupants had not cleaned the utensils properly, so they had festered over the intervening period. The government advice on cleanliness for holiday accommodation following coronavirus has not been implemented (other than a hand sanitiser at the top of the communal stairway), which is disgraceful and a potential health hazard. Had it not been for the fact that we had made plans for the week, and self cleaned those items we used, we would have returned home. See photos for the following: The safety issues - in the kitchen only one 13 amp trail board plugged into a dual socket of which only one socket works. There is no guidance on the number of appliances that can be plugged into the board simultaneously (washing machine, toaster, kettle, coffee filter, microwave) leading to a clear overload of the board if not aware; bathroom lights have exposed bulbs which are physically hit when the cabinet doors are opened; main bathroom light not fitted properly. The cleanliness issues - on arrival the fridge was mouldy and had green liquid in the vegetable tray; the cooker (which has corroded plates) was dirty; the oven and grill pan had left over fat in them; utensils were covered in fatty deposits; glasses had lip marks; the shower rail and door is mouldy. The other issues - there is a gate table in the kitchen but no chairs to go with it; the sofas are distinctly well used; there is a paucity of sockets throughout the flat; the appliances are serviceable but of particularly low quality; the windows were covered in salt spray and bird lime – perhaps not surprising on Pentire but meant the view was fuzzy. We were sufficiently concerned about the safety issues and condition of the flat to raise it with Cornwall Council Trading Standards and Environmental Health. We contacted the owner within 30 minutes of arrival having identified the issues with the fridge and oven. He was more interested in his imminent departure to Portugal and gave us the number of the cleaner, and left it for us to sort out the issues. The cleaner did clean the fridge and hob but they were the only issues we had identified upon arrival. Subsequent issues came to light as we came to use the flat and equipment. When we complained to the owner, he did not seem surprised or concerned about the condition of the flat. He did offer us a pro rata refund for any nights not used. However, given his approach and poor administrative skills (can't manage his email inbox and then couldn't find our booking form so said we 'were not insured to stay in the flat') we had no confidence in his sincerity in honouring his offer of a partial refund. In summary, even if the flat was clean, it was not worth the money or risk in our opinion. Other flats are available in Surf View, owned by different owners and in an up to date, clean and safe condition.

We had 29a which seems the poor relation to the other rooms. It has no views other than of the car park. There is no outside space to speak of. There is no direct access to the pool, which is over a minute walk away. You can't see the pool from the house so we couldn't keep an eye on the kids whilst making tea or whatever. It left us disappointed. To be fair the house inside was clean and tidy with everything we needed.

This is NOT our property. Surf View Apartments is Numbers 14 and 16. They overlook the pool and have FANTASTIC VIEWS of Fistral Beach and the Cornish Coastline.

I say amazing because the apartment is tastefully decorated, well equipped lovely and clean and spacious. There is a shared swimming pool. The veiw is stunning to the point i cant stop staring out if the window. But the one thing that makes this place special is the thoughtfulness of the two guys who run it Craig and Paul. The little welcome gift and the advice. I can see and feel that lots of TLC is put into this place. Highly recommended you will not be disapionted.

As soon as you arrive, you got the keys in a lock next to the door. No one is annoying you with check in and things like that. Everything was working properly and the apartment was beautiful with lovely beach views. The town is just 3 minutes driving, and the beach 10 minutes walking. There's free wifi that works, it's not the fastest, but it's enough for what you need there.

Perfect location and great facilities, particularly the outdoor pool. The walk to the beach was lovely and the outdoor space a real thrill for my daughters to play on. Accommodation was perfect for a family break, everything you could need. Would definately book again.

Such a good value location, overlooking world famous Fistral Beach. Comfortable accommodation, we have stayed here for a few years now, with friends and family, and always love the view and the proximity to the beach. Friendly service from Alan too. Have recommended to many others. Thank you!

Booked this apartment during the may 1/2 term. The view is just amazing from the apartment. It's also a short walk to the beach. The added bonus is the pool in the complex. The owner Allan was really prompt and good with all the details with regard to booking, directions as well as attractions in the area. He also recommended excellent places to eat in the area. The apartment had all the essentials for a short trip. Would definitely recommend this place to families on a budget. Value for money.
