Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in Newquay last week and visited the Godolphin on a number of occasions for food and drink. The bar staff and locals were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was tasty and along with the drinks, good value for money. When we asked for a Sri Lankan curry that had been on the specials board the night before and had smelt really good, “Badger” the chef happened to overhear us and went and made it especially for us even though it was his night off. It certainly didn’t disappoint and was one of the best curries I’ve ever had, far better than many of the Indian restaurants I’ve eaten in. Can’t speak for the accommodation as we didn’t stay there, but a good place to eat and drink.

Work booked me in here as it was low budget, rooms were ok but I got bad back ache from the bed. Breakfast was English but not great. Walls are paper thin and the toilets use grinders which make a lot of noise. The last night they had a birthday party and the noise was horrendous, they moved me to the front which was quieter, but had kids yabbing until the early hours, not great when I had a 7 hour drive in the morning. Will never stay here again

The worst choice I have ever made. This is not a hotel, this is a bar with five rooms on top. Location is far away from the citycenter, just on the street with a lot of traffic noise. Inside a strong smell of cigarettes smoke, smoked by the lady owner at the Reception and heavy kitchen odours around. Room is filthy, cellar size, barhroom is a box with camping chemical wc and broken light. Wi fi absence to complete the picture. Impossible to stay, ensured a refund that Booking.com later denied. Cancelling my Genius Top Premium unuseful profile was the minimum I could ever do! Avoid this Bar.

Had a few staff serve us over the couple of days we came to this pub and not once were we treated nicely. We witnessed a lot of rude behaviour from them towards other guests in the pub, including some vile language being made about these guests. I don’t think we saw a single smile from any of them and they did not make us feel welcome, I would not recommend visiting. Also, a man infront of us got charged £4 for 2 pints and myself was charged £7.40 for a J20 and a pint of lemonade, won’t be visiting again.

I wasn't going to do this but it's been playing on my mind.. I was booked in for initially 3months for work. Unfortunately I only stayed 1 night. As I drove up it looked a reasonable place, however on opening the door the stench hit me. The lady who booked me in was pleasant enough. The carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned for years. The single room inwhich I had been booked into was dirty, smelly. The ensuite was tiny, outdated and to look directly at the mirror I had to lean on the toilet. The room was above the bar and though understandable to have some noise but I could hear every single word that was said.Booked out after one night which was enough.
