Recently returned from an amazing trip to The Headland. We stayed in one of The Headlands gorgeous unique cottages right over looking the beach & it didnt disappoint. On arrival we were greated by reception staff who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was faultless. Given a tour of what the headland had to offer shown the resturants & spa. We ate at all the resturants on site & they were superb! Something for all ☺️ was delishious! The views while eating dinner are breathtaking! Our favourite bit - The new Spa! This is something definatly not to miss out on we loved spending time in here again with views right out onto the sea. Breakfast - Lots of varitey & choice to order items required. We will deffinatly be back - Trip was 10/10

The Headland is simply the loveliest family hotel in the UK. My first stay was as a baby in the 1980’s and my family went on to spend many holidays there over the years. The easy access to Fistral beach, friendly staff, excellent food, and fabulous facilities make it a haven for families. While the hotel has seen many updates, including the addition of the new Aquaclub and beautiful refurbishment of the restaurant, the Headland’s warm and welcoming character hasn’t changed. I look forward to making new memories there with my own family.

We were very excited to be staying here, due to its lovely location and facilities. Staff are great, and it has all the touches you would expect from a 5 star. Our room had a nice view of the sea/ driveway, and was modern which we liked. The longes and terrace are so relaxing. The breakfast was incredible, so much choice and attentive staff. The restaurant really is lovely. The gym and indoor pool area were very good, and it was very peaceful and quiet in there. We had pre booked the aqua club, and the contrast is huge! It was packed to the seams, busy, loud guests drinking bottles of wine, the staff service alcohol in real glass, so the state of some of the guests was concerning, as if the glass broke near/ in the hot tubs it would be awful. Not relaxing at all. Packed in like sardines. The lady on reception informed us it was very busy, we explained we had pre booked our slot, and she said yes, but we have day packages in. We glanced over before we took our locker key, and asked how it worked, as obviously we had come a long way to stay here, and a huge part of that was to experience the hot tub overlooking the sea. She told us it’s a 20 minute rotation, with a maximum of 8 people at one time. So off we went, believing the system was in place, as bearing in mind this is a very expensive 5 star, so we were confident we would get our turn. That we did not. Us and some other poor couples watched in dismay as the current hoggers all sat in there, guzzling their booze and going redder by the second. After 40 minutes one chap decided to take matters into his own hands, and climbed in almost ending up on a man’s lap. He then told his partner to join him, as we could tell she was so upset as not to have her turn. By this point there were now 12 adults all squashed in. It looked horrendous. The rest of us watched on, confident that a member of staff would now come out, to explain that they were well over time for then to all vacate to allow the rest of us, not to mention that there were 4 too many squashed in, but nope. Nothing. We are not against anyone having a nice spa break, that’s what we all were there for, but there does need to be a system in place for when it’s that busy. The hotel would have seen how many guests were staying, how many packages, so why allow everyone to book in at once? It was a total waste of our time. If people are selfish enough to hog the tubs, a staff member ought to be present to discreetly inform of the turn over. Or just scrap the whole 20 minute thing, as nobody listens to that, so it’s pointless saying it, as it winds up other guests who actually consider others and obey the spa rules. We left and asked the receptionist what gives. She said it’s just so busy and we can’t monitor it. We explained we hadn’t been able to use any of the outdoor things, and she said you are welcome to try your luck tomorrow, but we are full again with packages, staring with 19 women at 8am. So there is really no hope. I guess if we were to go again you would just have to constantly walk down and just see if it ever gets quieter. I mean as in quiet enough to even get 5 minutes in the hot tub. So that really was a huge disappointment. The only other thing that surprised us was there is no mention at all of the film The witches. Not one picture of the cast, or behind the scenes filming. A lot of people travel far and wide to stay here purely to see it for that reason, and it really lives up to the expectations, it’s just a shame there is no acknowledgement of the film. We asked about it at reception and the lady was more than happy to print out a A4 with the filming locations, which is great, but why not have that on show all year round to save us going around asking specifically. We will be back, in the hope of finically getting in that hot tub!

Hello and thank you very much for your interesting review. We are so glad that you liked your room, our breakfasts and our attentive staff. It is really good to see that that you found so much to enjoy at The Headland. However, we are sorry to see that you were disappointed at being unable to use the hot tub when you visited our lovely Aqua Club, because it was a very busy time- mainly due to the fact that it is the Easter school holidays. We do have a capacity for the numbers permitted in the club at any one time and this is never exceeded. We also keep an eye on how much alcohol is served to individuals. I understand your concern about actual glasses being allowed in the Club, but this is never the case for obvious health and safety reasons.. All 'glasses' are in fact plastic and bottles of wine etc. are decanted into plastic bottles too. We do normally monitor the length of time some guests spend in such areas as the hot tub and from your description of your own experience, I apologize most sincerely if this did not happen when you were there. We have now reminded staff of this rule. With regard to advertising or displaying material about the film 'The Witches' being filmed here, we are not allowed to do so as the Roald Dahl company retain all rights in that respect. We can however give guests a printed handout with information about the filming on request. You can also be shown the rooms where some of the filming took place. We are so pleased that, overall, you enjoyed your stay and we completely understand your disappointment and concerns. It is good to see that you plan to come back to us. Remind us of your last experience when you do and we will make sure you have a great session in that hot tub! Kindest regards Wyn

Great hotel and cottages especially if like us, you have a dog. Dine in the cottage which has all the facilities that you need or treat yourself to breakfast and dinner (or do both). Spa and aqua club facilities are a real bonus and if you're a surfer or want to learn to surf, Fistral Beach is a very short walk away. Fantastic spot and hotel with the most helpful staff. We try and go at least once every year.

Dear Rose Thank you so much for another lovely review. We are so glad that you love staying here with your gorgeous dog every year. Your lovely feedback means a great deal to us and it is always a great pleasure to welcome you back. Yes, a holiday in one of our beautiful cottages does give you the best of all worlds so to speak, as you can use all the hotel facilities and still have the privacy of your own holiday home-from-home. Of course we also have our own surf school if anyone wants to learn from professionals in safety. Special thanks for praising our wonderful staff so highly. We hope to go on welcoming you back far into the future. Warm regards Wyn

We stayed as a family of 5 in a headland front facing 2 bed cottage for the Easter break . Our family ranged from 5 months old to 65 years . The spa complex is truly stunning with many fabulous pampering treats on offer . The pools are exceptional . The cottage had a stunning sea view and most things covered for a very comfortable stress free stay .The cottages are a great base from which you can explore the whole area . There is a great choice of value for money food only a step away on the fantastic family surfing beach of Fistral . The town is nearby and the beautiful beach at crantock is only a short drive away and is another great attraction to the area . We have been many times either in the hotel or cottages and find the staff lovely and the cleanliness and accommodation really fulfils our requirements as a family however many of us decide to go each year !

Wow! What an amazing stay we had. The 4 of us; two adults and an 18 and14 year old stayed in a two bedroom suite with a coastal view (316). Everything about the hotel is amazing. The Deck, the Terrace, the RenMor, the Ballroom, the Spa and the Aquaclub are all first class. The breakfasts were brilliant, the restaurant is wonderful and newly refurbished. We ate at the Deck twice, the Terrace once and RenMor once. The food was so good. The cocktail list was great and changed where we were. Honestly we couldn’t fault it. We will be back. I’d like to go in sumner, just to experience the views outside!

I very rarely go to the effort of writing a review but our recent stay at the Headland made me want to share the experience. It was absolutely perfect in every way. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we were treated to first class service from every single member of staff. The hotel is stunning, our room was beautiful and the spa was a wonderful experience, but it is with the staff that the real magic happens. We cannot praise them enough for making our few days so memorable. I looked at a lot of spa hotels before deciding on the Headland and I am so glad that I chose the best one. We will definitely be back.
