Wonderful stay at the Atlantic Hotel - second time we have been here- staff were so helpful and friendly ; they responded promptly and politely-room was lovely with great sea views- spa in full working order. A few minor issues such as repairs required in the Silk bar but we were offered other areas to sit. Would return.

Good: breakfast except coffee served in a cafetiere with the coffee on top of the filter. Not good: room( clean but heating was on full blast which they were unable to rectify), lack of lift, food luke warm at evening meals, floors dangerously slippy( which is not good when we came here for a dancing weekend). Silks was un-manned so had to order our drinks from main bar. We have been coming here for dance weekends for over 10years in the run up to Christmas. It always has a lovely Christmassy atmosphere. This time, on the 19th of November there were still no signs of decorations or even a tree. We won't come back again. Staff need to be trained properly and not made to pass on poor excuses.

We have been going to the Atlantic for decades , and after reading a few reviews I was a bit concerned as to what we would find Firstly yes from the outside it’s appearance is poor , it needs painting , and the green moss scraping off , the first impression wasn’t good , I understand it’s up for sale so no investment being made . The main areas inside vary from glitzy sparkly quartz floor tiles to old carpets upstairs , and the rooms are needing attention but ours was clean . The shower in our room 302 wasn’t working properly it was either scalding hot or to cold and even though there was a bath , there wasn’t an option to divert water to the tap , it was broken off . The breakfast was good , lots of nice fresh fruit , toast , and full range of cooked options , which was served piping hot . No lunch available as silks doesn’t open lunchtime . 4* hotel with no lunch available ? Silks bistro still exactly the same it was 17 years ago nothing updated . Half the facilities aren’t used , with the sushi bar moth balled , and furniture stored in there . Fabulous ballroom that I’ve tried to hire ,unused , they wanted far to much money for the hire and would prefer to leave it unused , I could have filled it with 300 people but no they weren’t interested . Short sighted I’m going to praise the staff though , everyone spoke , good morning etc And the breakfast staff were faultless

On arrival we were met by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. We were really pleasantly surprised on the whole look of the art deco design. Beautiful staircase, huge mirrors, everything very clean and shiny. Our room was overlooking the sea which was amazing. The room was clean and had everything we needed. I’m the evening we ate in the Silks restaurant. The 2 waitresses that were waiting our table were extremely friendly and our steak meal was delicious! Overall we had a fantastic stay. Staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy and were lovely! Highly recommended!!! Will definitely go back!!!

Really excited to book a sea view and balcony room at this hotel, after a tough year me and my partner wanted a treat in a nice hotel which my partner has fond memories of growing up when visited with his parents. The rooms view was stunning, breathtaking even, we loved it. The room itself was spacious nice bathroom There was a dead insect squashed on the wall but we looked past that. The lift was not working, judging by other reviews it seems it has been like this for a while, there was no communication about this beforehand, luckily me and my partner were able to climb the four flights of stairs but it got tiring after being out all day and after the steep climb up to the hotel itself. The lift being out of order was a hinderance to us. Despite having a door knock on the first morning asking if we wanted a room clean (which we did) nobody bothered to come and do it, I had to call reception for clean towels, toilet roll, replenished tea coffee etc. we made the beds ourselves. This was disappointing for what I thought was a luxury hotel. On our last morning we wanted to use the pool, it says pool is open at 7am, perfect I like a swim first thing before I get ready for the day. We went down to the pool but it was locked, reception told us due to health and safety we could not use this facility but to come back at 8am as the maintenance man needed to check the pool levels, fine. We traipse back up the 4 flights of stairs to our room and wait until 8. At 8am we go back down. Pool still locked, we ask at reception if we can use the pool, but we’re told again, no as the pool man hadn’t showed up yet. I was pretty angry at this point and I started to dislike the hotel, we were ready to check out at this point and stay somewhere else. The sauna was also out of order. All in all we enjoyed our few days in Newquay but the hotel facilities really let it down for us, we really wanted a child free relaxing break in a luxury hotel but we didn’t get what I paid for, merely a room to sleep in, no other facilities were available to us. I was so angry I wrote an email complaint while in the room. This was 2 days ago and I haven’t even received an acknowledgment, no apology nothing, but when I emailed before our stay I got a response within a couple of hours so I know the mailbox is monitored. Really disappointed in this hotel to be honest, not what I expected for the money I paid.

Booked a table in the silks restaurant 3 weeks ago and had a confirmation of the booking to my email address 2 days ago only to be telephoned today the day of my booking at 12.30pm to be told that I can’t have my booking and i shouldn’t have been able to book in first place!!!!the booking was made for our wedding anniversary and to be told on the day that they can’t accommodate my booking is disgraceful oh but I could have a table at 6pm!!! Oh sorry I’ll just rearrange my whole evening to accommodate your appalling customer service…will not be heading here again and being local and a holiday home owner will not be recommending this restaurant ever again.

Good: Staff were lovely. Food was good quality. Location excellent for accessing beach walks and short drive to coastpath walks. Bed comfortable. Not So Good: Pillows awful. Spa - sauna out of order (important if like me you were really looking forward to it as part of my break); jacuzzi also not working. Pool very small and shallow. Jug of water - warm. Lift out of order on arrival, so heavy bags and six flights of stairs! Went on Travelzoo. Optioned to upgrade from 'sea view' to 'ocean view' (not sure what difference is?), on Travelzoo noted as £25 per night. The booking from the hotel came back showing this as £35 per night, I emailed back and they changed it back to £25. Was not mentioned at all during check in so wondered if they forgot. On arriving to third floor room, said 'ocean view' was via one window approx. 3' square, with a heavy table and chairs in front. This confirmed to us they had forgotten but didn't want the palaver of going back down to change, just thought well, we'll save £50. However, on check-out we were told there was £70 to pay for our room upgrade!!! I explained how disappointed we were with the view and had assumed they had forgotten but refused to pay. By this time I could not even be bothered to show them the Travelzoo confirmation of £25 pn not £35. Just wanted to leave.

Dear Moyah412 I hope this message finds you well. Firstly, we want to thank you for taking the time to share your experience at The Atlantic Hotel. We value all feedback from our guests and use it to continually improve our services. We are thrilled to hear you had a positive experience with our staff, you enjoyed our onsite restaurant and found our location to be ideal for exploring Newquay! We feel very lucky to have the spot we do on the headland. Thank you for highlighting the issues you faced during your stay with us. We truly apologise that the spa facilities being out of order put a damper on your stay. Particularly, as you say, you were looking forward to this as part of your trip. We unfortunately had to close some facilities during your stay due to health and safety reasons. We are very sorry for the confusion with your room upgrade. We will be investigating this issue internally to ensure this does not happen again. Our goal is for every guest to have an enjoyable and memorable experience with us, and we are saddened to hear we have fallen short on this occasion. We would love the opportunity to rectify these issues and hope you would consider giving us another opportunity to host you. Please feel free to contact our management directly at management@atlantichotelnewquay.co.uk if you would like to discuss your comments further or if there is anything more we can do to address your concerns. Thank you for your time, and we hope to have the privilege of welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards, Guest Services The Atlantic Hotel

Had great stay for 3 nights. Came out of season so not so busy. It is about a 15 minute stroll into Newquay but a steep hill back to the hotel. Room was lovely looking over Newquay and the sea, great view. The room was spotless and cleaned well everyday. We had breakfast each morning and the service was great. Will come back again when in Newquay.

We stayed at the hotel 3 years ago so sort of knew what to expect. We had room 309 which had the most amazing sea views. The room faced back towards Newquay so you had views of all beaches, including Fistral. Room was adequate and comfortable, if dated. The TV remote struggled to work, one of the bedside lights didn’t work and the curtains were torn. Also the bathroom fan would continuously turn on briefly. My daughter had room 303, I could not have stayed in her room due to the damp smell! Had a lovely view of the ocean. Breakfast was £22 each! It was OK but just not worth it. The tables were set up with milk etc on and had to swap it one day due to there being a fly in it. There was also a fly in the water jug in the servery. Had a meal in the restaurant and we all enjoyed it to be honest. Staff all lovely, helpful and friendly. The location is excellent. The restaurant is good. The staff are excellent. The hotel needs some investment and refurbishment.
