Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely disgrace to be charging that much money for an horrible experience. When going to check in, they were trying to get more money out of us that wasnt actually needed which resulted us in cancelling the night. A waitress sat me and my husband and could CLEARLY see we had our dogs on leads, sat us in the restaurant, we went up to get our drinks and saw someone sat in our seat, the waitress asked this couple to move and let us sit back down. After we sat back down she then rudely stated we shouldn’t even be sat here due to having dogs. After sending an email of complaint about our stay, we were told that this isn’t true and making us out to be liars!! The email we received back was rude and unprofessional.

Bought for a Xmas gift for my daughter and son in law . On check in was advised to pay an extra £50 holding fee this was not advised at time of booking ! booked for breskfast following morning showed up with there two dogs and shown to a table went to go and get food on return someone else had been sat at there table - spoke to waitress who asked them to move shortly after this they were then shown to the lounge where they had to eat there breakfast as had dogs ! No one said anything when originally sat to table . Room was extremely hot 🥵 Telephone didn’t work Total experience was dreadful couldn’t wait to check out and leave never to return . Have emailed hotel but not much response back from this . Definitely not worth the money that they charged for one night parking and extra for two dogs !!

A big disappointment. Looked lovely on the website but was a let-down in almost every way. Our main problem was the out-of-control children running around everywhere screaming - their parents making no attempt to calm them down. We were eating in the restaurant in the evening when a kids' magic show started up in the corner - loud voices and kids screaming is not conducive to a relaxing meal! The lounge area was chilly and there was food on the carpet. Bedroom was small and nothing special, with hard pillows. Food was OK but very expensive, and vegetarian breakfast was awful! Downstairs was quite smart and well designed, but upstairs there were poky corridors with grubby carpets, and only 1 small lift. Fire safety seemed to be non-existent - no signage that we could see. Staff were mostly very good except for receptionist when we checked out who didn't even ask us if we'd enjoyed our stay (we hadn't). The setting is great and the view is lovely, but that doesn't make up for all the things that were wrong.

Great location, lovely view. Staff very attentive. Didn’t get chance to use full facilities of the pool and hot tub as it was always full, which was disappointing. The ground floor is well presented and looks luxury but when you walk up to the rooms it feels a bit outdated. We also had to ring down to reception as the music in the restaurant was very loud and we could hear it through the floor; Reception were quick to solve it and turned it off, but the same happened the second night. The restaurant finishes serving at 9pm and this is when the music should stop too. We could hear the chairs being moved/dragged in the restaurant from our room as none have gliders on. When going down to the restaurant we found that there was a speaker on the ceiling directly under our room. Even when we came up from breakfast in the morning we could hear the music through the flooring. The breakfast was very expensive for £25pp and personally I don’t think it was value for money, when I had 2 small pastries and 3 small pancakes with 1 rash of bacon. No cranberry juice available. The walls between the rooms were very thin and we could hear word for word what our neighbours either side of us were saying. We managed to find parking by timing it correctly but it was the last space available, the hotel car park was already full. Personally I don’t think the overall stay was a 4star stay and worth the amount of money we paid for a 2 night stay.

Visited for 3 nights with our 1 year old baby. Lovely stay, great hotel and friendly staff. Rooms were spacious enough for a family and very clean. Lovely toiletries provided, including Child’s Farm. Food in the restaurant was very delicious - we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every meal we had was very tasty. Pool was clean and a nice little area for smaller children. Would love to return.

Me and my girlfriend had a very lovely stay, very polite staff member and a quick 30 minute walk to the town centre. Really good view of Fistral beach, good breakfast however would’ve liked a larger option.

A great family and dog friendly hotel right on the beach. We love staying here. Everything is thought of to make staying away with kids and dogs easy. Pool, cinema, bar and restaurant all great amenities. This hotel is always our first choice in Newquay.

Being a regular to significant hotel user I found the esplanade to be superb and high end without the pretentious drivel high end can sometimes bring sucking up to over indulged guests. It was immaculate, clean ( and I mean spotless); superbly comfortable and the staff are first class. Spent the evening in the bar which was very fairly priced and had the warmth and friendliness of a local pub. Well done all! Can't recommend enough
