Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was the 3rd time we’d stayed at the Kallacliff - the last time being in 2018. It used to be a lovely guest house and we rebooked it this year with complete confidence but has really gone downhill since our last visit. The whole place looks tired, grubby and is in dire need of a facelift. It’s almost like the owners have given up and are just waiting for their retirement. Such a shame as it’s in a lovely spot overlooking Lusty Glaze beach. We won’t be going back again.

Room Tip: Parking is difficult as the owners park their cars and van on the car park which has very few spaces

We asked got a lower ground floor room as my wife has mobility issues. The room we had was tiny with two single beds, tiny wardrobe and drawers with a tv on top. Rooms were dirty and in need of a good tidy up. As this is a dog friendly hotel all the owners dogs were wondering round messing on the floor. Our room was next to the kitchen so we had smells of fried food. Breakfast was a pre order which is ok but sometimes what you put down you isn’t what you necessarily want for breakfast.

The hotel is in a great location and the owners went the extra mile to make our experience extra special as it was our honeymoon! You could tell they genuinely cared and wanted to make our stay memorable. They had lovely pets and children who were very sweet! A real family feel ☺️

They made a mistake with the dates I’d booked and Liz’s attitude was appalling. Her responses included ‘i can’t magic rooms out of thin air’ and invited me to go elsewhere. A simple I’m very sorry we’ve made a mistake, I wish there was something I could do, would have been sufficient. Instead of blaming it on an ex-employee and having generally rude attitude. I found somewhere else so thankfully won’t have to witness Liz’s attitude in person.

If you are looking for a ultra modern hotel, the Kallacliff isn’t for you. It is, however, a b&b with a family feel with staff that will go out of their way to help you. Rooms are a good size and are well cleaned. Breakfast was hot and tasty, no complaints there. We would stay again.

I am writing this on behalf of my mother, who had a wonderful visit here. Her review is “Best holiday I have ever had, due to the view and outside bar/restaurant here. It felt an especially safe and welcoming atmosphere for solo women travellers. The view is stupendous… well worth a visit”

We didn’t stay at the hotel but we had breakfast in the cafe with our young children and enjoyed it so much we went back for dinner the same night!! The staff and owner were the friendliest bunch of people!! We were made to feel like part of the family, they couldn’t do enough for us! The food was lovely, huge portions and reasonable prices. We loved the homely feel of the place and the people ! Thanks for having us guys xx

Visited the other week with my husband and was very disappointed with the service from “life’s a beach cafe”. All of the staff were very obnoxious and wouldn’t leave us alone to enjoy our semi-edible food. The experience as a whole was poor, not recommended.
