Came here for Sisters 50th Birthday surprise, a gaggle of ladies had one of the apartments we had one of the beach houses. Wow wow wow. Beach house is so beautiful molton brown products in the most beautiful shower, fresh milk and a bottle of bubbles left in the fridge for us. Towels HUGE fluffy and white, robes, slippers, beach towels and the view, my god the view, you sit in bed with a morning cuppa watching the sea, surfers, dog walkers absolutely amazing. Cant praise the staff enough for looking after us, cocktails try a Raspberry collins.......we all went in dressed as fisherman, but no one gave us a second look. Thank you all for such a special visit we will be back.

From the moment we arrived we couldn't believe our luck, after ignoring personal recommendation for other hotels I found this a knew I had to give it a chance and I am so glad we did. Complimentary cocktail on arrival made the welcome all the better but when we got to the room it was lovely, right down the old fashioned record player with small selection of albums and the complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. The room was so quaint and the view was so lovely we didn't want to leave in the evening to have dinner, preferring to sit on the veranda, wrapped in their blankets and watch the sun go down and the waves crashing. All in all we had a fabulous stay. If I had to add one negative the mattress wasn't the most comfortable (slopping to the left) and the pillows were hard but that's me being fussy rather than an extreme problem.

It would be very tough indeed to give these apartments anything less than 5 stars. These are apartments and it’s not a hotel although it does have a restaurant next to it and there is a small element of reception/security in the hut below. The apartments are decorated tastefully in a colonial style, it has Everything you would want and more, bath robes, blankets for the balcony a vinyl record player even a tea pot! The bathroom was large and wonderful with a large bath two sinks and a separate shower and the views of the beach fantastic. Accessibility might be an issue for some it’s at the bottom of a very narrow lane at the bottom of a steep slope which our taxi couldn’t access and the restaurant attached is good but has a limited menu but overall wonderful accommodation well worth the effort and money fit for a honeymoon.

We spent 3 nights in a Colonial room at the cost of £250 a night & I can honestly say it was THE worst breakfast I've ever had in a hotel. staff were wearing dirty clothes, half asleep, wearing their hair down. There was limited choice of only cooked options, packet hollandaise, burnt toast & orange juice from a happy shopper carton. On top of this it took 55 minutes to complete where us as paying guests had to wait for walk-in customers to take priority. I've paid less in Michelin starred restaurants the fact this hotel has the balls to charge such an extortionate rate for such disgusting food is just unbelievable.

Even think we were warned about limited housekeeping and taking into consideration all the covid restrictions the staff couldn't even be bothered to empty our bin. The bed was like sleeping on a slab of cardboard boxes collected from the local sainsburys. Overall I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. Don't get me wrong the location was spot on but whole heartedly the most expensive disappointment I've had. After mentioning our experience to the on duty manager we weren't even offered discount for the breakfasts.

I hope all the staff there read this and buck their ideas up and wash their clothes because this is day light robbery in its most organic form.

This is the second stay we have had here and the place is nothing short of perfection.
Our first stay, we stayed in the Sea View Balcony room, which was stunning. The view from the very large balcony is just sensational (right onto Tolcarne Beach) The room was large and spacious and decorated in a very taste full Caribbean style.
Our second stay, we stayed in the Hot Tub Suite!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!! Again, the room is large and spacious, a little smaller than the Sea View Balcony room.
Instead of a Balcony, you have a terrace and garden area leading straight to the beach. The hot tub was just the best!! Sat in the tub looking out to the beautiful North Coast!
Both rooms had a huge bathroom with a roll top bath and a very large drench shower.
We ate both times in the restaurant and the food is really amazing, as is the cocktails too.
All the staff are incredibly friendly and warming and nothing is too much trouble.
Special mention to Danny and Lizzie who really did look after us and made sure our stays were so special.
You really could be anywhere in the world here.
Perfection to the highest level!!

We paid over the odds for this place because we knew we wouldn’t get away this year. We normally wouldn’t have paid as much and it wasn’t quite value for money, however you do get a lovely breakfast (although one of the chefs needs to learn to grill halloumi and not boil it - yuck!) and parking included. The rooms are clean with lovely views, the reception was incredibly accommodating and most of the restaurant staff are brilliant! A couple of times our orders weren’t right in the restaurant and we found the menu very limited and overpriced (almost no vegetarian options, which is a bit dated these days).

We would come back but only if it was £100 less per night and if the menu expanded and was brought up to date more.

I have been visiting Newquay since the late 60’s always using Tolcarne beach.

Now I am lucky enough to take my own kids, we have the option of these fabulous apartments right on the beach.

Access to the beach is either via 138 steps or a rather narrow, windy and steep slope. This seems to restrict the number of visitors so the beach never gets completely overcrowded.

The apartments themselves are a decent size and are arranged over 2 floors with the master suite upstairs. There is a decent sized living/dining area and a fully equipped kitchen area.

There are several good restaurants within easy walking distance and a very useful Tesco express at the top of the steps.

The beach also has a very nice cafe and the colonial hotel/restaurant which serves excellent food.

We will be returning in 2021.

The beach houses are literally on the beach. They are roomy, spotlessly clean despite the inevitable ingress of sand when entering from the beach, decorated in fascinating detail with polished wooden floors.
The staff are all so very cheeful, helpful and attentive to every request or query and really give the impression that they all feel part of a happy family.
We have to give special mention to Ava (or maybe Eva), Natasha and Niamh who each took care of us on one of our lovely evenings in the restaurant but all the staff we encountered were a real credit to themselves and the hotel.
The food is also worthy of special mention, being of fine-dining quality and yet priced no higher than a decent town restaurant and chefs Matt and Wayne (aka 'Skinny') not only produced wonderful food for both breakfasts and dinners but were also happy to spend some time chatting about the area, the food, their lives in Newquay and the hotel.
It is impossible to quite put into a few words how exceptional the hotel and its environment is; quite simply it is the best hotel we've ever experienced in the UK and easily in our top three worldwide (we are in our 50s and are quite widely travelled so we think we can draw pretty comprehensive comparisons).
To be able to eat fantastic food, served by the most charming and cheerful staff, then enjoy a cocktail on the terrace overlooking the beach before going to sleep in a wonderfully comfortable bed and to the sound of surf, only a few dozen yards away proved to be the most relaxing, enjoyable and restorative few days we can recall. We will be back.

We stayed for one night on a small road trip around Cornwall. We have stayed in some great hotels but this for us had the x factor. Tip you must splash the cash and make sure you have a balcony. I think we were in room 8 in the main building. The views were amazing and ambience in the room was so special. This hotel is not perfect but it has real charm and character. It is the rare sort of hotel room you actually want to not leave.
We were given a voucher for 2 cocktails on arrival and went the on site restaurant for both diner and breakfast. Both excellent . Great casual service from the team of guys.
The whole place has a real holiday feel but would be worth visiting to celebrate a special occasion. You do not need to even see Newquay. The beach is seconds away and we had a great swim before dinner.
We will definitely return and recommend to family and friends something we rarely do.
Parking was fine . Its a bit tricky but follow the detailed instructions given by the hotel .

We stayed at this property whilst on a roadtrip around Cornwall, we were not disappointed! We were here for just 2 nights but it was very nice! The staff are very good, polite and made us feel welcome and showed us to our room on arrival. Rooms are spacious and cosy with a beautiful view of the beach and nearby cliffs out onto the terrace/balcony. Rooms were also immaculate and clean. They offer room service for breakfast which is good for those who wake up later or just want to have breakfast in the comfort of their own room. The beach is easily accessible and is relatively busy in the day but quiet at night. I would highly recommend a stay here and will definitely return some time in the the future.

Hi there we did visit the other rooms which were amazing but we have not stayed in one with a hot tub. The staff are really helpful so maybe call and share your concerns as they may have an alternative for you. Hope you have a lovely trip. It is beautiful
