Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We traveled down for a football match and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were lovely, polite and helpful..The food was amazing and loads of it. The rooms were spacious and well equipped. If I had to say any down side was that the shower ran slowly but it wouldn’t stop me from booking again.Thank you for a great weekend hopefully see you all again.

We’d moved into our new home in Penzance and as we hadn’t unpacked our kitchen boxes we decided to try the Longboat Inn for supper. What a lovely welcoming place! The staff were so friendly and very efficient. The food was homemade, plentiful and very tasty. The crumble was fabulous. As it is our new local, we can’t wait to return. Pity that they don’t do breakfast as we would definitely have gone back the following morning !

Response from Ryan Larter, Other at The Longboat Inn

Thank you for lovely review. Just a heads up, we do serve breakfast 7-10am. But, due to hotel guests and their breakfast times, it's best to book a table 😊. Kind regards Ryan - Manager The Longboat team.

Popped in for tea and cake with baby and dog, the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful coffee cake delicious and they even gave our dog water and treats which Louie appreciated! Roomy and spacious layout. It’s an ideal place to pop into for lunch or snacks. It has atmosphere and is ideally situated for the railway station and seafront. An ideal place to head for if walking from Longrock for the day.

A group of us came to penzance from Wales earlier this month to watch the 6 nations Rugby 🏉. We stayed at the longboat for four nights. We were made very welcome, lovely rooms, food was very good, both breakfast and dinner. Staff were courteous and friendly, excellent value for money. Room was spacious and clean as was the bathroom. An easy uphill walk to the town centre, the train station and bus station is only 100 yards away and the seashore as well, this hotel is perfectly located for easy access to public transport. Cannot recommend the longboat enough, excellent value for money, in an ideal location, with wonderful staff. Thank you everyone for making our stay with you so happy.

We stayed for a week, ate in every night as food was really excellen, the service was best, the ambience was to our liking, the room was warm and clean and comfy. I'd return to this hotel. They have a free film night but we didn't try this but great idea! The menu has a " golden years" for people like us who like smaller meals... Great idea.

I decided to stay at The Longboat due to the price and the location, and my preference to give money to local businesses rather than big chains. It's two mins from the train station, based at the bottom of the main street in Penzance, and within easy stomping distance of the harbour, promenade, local pubs, cafes, shops, and my family's homes. The staff were very welcoming when I turned up and gave clear instructions re the room, keys, and booking breakfast. They provided an iron and ironing board on request. They were also friendly and helpful when I raised some issues (below). I first stayed in the Cape Cornwall room (14), but had some issues there (a broken sash window letting breeze in, a leaking shower, and a dodgy hot water tap). The staff offered to move me immediately, but as I'd been travelling for 10 hours, and my first two days were jampacked with pre-funeral events, and a funeral, I didn't have the time or energy to move on days one or two. Once the funeral was behind me, I moved on day three, for the final night, to room 18 (Lands End, maybe?) which was much more pleasant and I experienced no issues. In both rooms, the beds and linen were comfortable, the TVs worked fine, there was lots of wardrobe space, the room temperature was good, and everything was clean. It would be nice if the hotel put a bottle of still water in the room, in addition to the tea and coffee, every day so you don't have to rely on the bathroom tap - I went out and bought my own. I didn't eat whilst here as I spent the whole time with family. I had breakfast at Sullivans Diner on my final morning, which was fab. In summary, The Longboat was fine to stay in for a few nights, as an affordable option, and as a solo traveller. If I was going to return and wanted to stay for longer, or to stay somewhere that felt more like a treat, I'd probably stay elsewhere.

It’s been a while since we visited so heres our thoughts. On arrival check in was quick and simple with the ability to make reservations for food and breakfast for the following morning. We had a late lunch and the portion sizes were huge. I had a gammon steak and my wife had what i can only describe as a pile of scampi. All really well cooked. Drink wise i sampled the guest beer which was kept extremely well. Our room was excellent, very comfortable clean and tidy. Breakfast before we left was excelent. I had the full Cornish which was grease free unlike many places. We’ll be back.

Quick service a Great atmosphere loved the games area even got the other half to join in a game. The longboat is ideal to spend an evening drinking good wine with friends. Didn't eat but the food looked lovely with empty plates were returning to the kitchen always a good sign.

Having read the recent reviews we were somewhat reticent but decided that we liked the look of the place. It was well lit, clean and tidy. The staff were well presented and hospitable. Granted it was 1530hrs when we entered but we were welcomed by a smiling and happy staff member, Alistair was his name, and of course it was no trouble getting a table for two. We ordered and kept our fingers crossed. It was worth it. The food when it came was piping hot, fresh and very delicious. We enjoyed it so much we stopped a little longer as we finished our drinks. We think that if you choose your time to visit you will not be disappointed. We will go again tomorrow, probably about the same time. Well done Alistair and the chef who we saw but did not meet. Well done all round.
