Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a really lovely bed and breakfast and we enjoyed our stay enormously. Ideally situated for going into Penzance and not far to walk to Newlyn and Mousehole. The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are clean and very comfortable. Breakfast great - well cooked and lots of options.

Such a fabulous guesthouse - warm and welcoming feel with luxurious, boutique hotel touches, comfortable, clean rooms and a delicious breakfast menu, located on a leafy avenue, only 5-10 mins walk from the seafront. Can't wait to return!

A super clean house with the best of everything imaginable- fluffy absorbent towels, comfortable bed, quality pillows and sheets. Clare welcomed us into this lovely place and we will be back for a retreat here next!

The room “Gwithian” on the top floor was beautiful and clean, and was spacious for the 4 of us. Tea, coffee and cookies were provided in a small kitchenette, which included a microwave and fridge. Also board games were available in the room. Our host Clare was very attentive and welcoming. She paid attention to any food allergies, provided us with blankets for a pic-nic, gave us advice for a nice café on a bicycle trip. The breakfast was delicious and abundant: from fruit, granola and yogurt to a Full English breakfast (the vegan version was also very tasty), pancakes with maple syrup, porridge or avocado / salmon toast, to croissants and toast with jam / Marmelade. Amazingly tasty!

This was our second visit this year. We loved it so much we’ve been raving to our friends so much about Clare and Elmsdale that we decided to come back in the summer holidays. Needless to say we were delighted. I can’t recommend this B&B enough. The rooms/beds are super comfortable and the variety of delicious breakfasts are super spoiling. Location wise, the guest home is perfectly situated to explore Cornwall, we bought daily family bus tickets and visited St Ives, Mousehole and Sennan with ease. Penzance has some lovely shops and restaurants too and a trip to Jubilee Pool is definitely worth it.

Very friendly & welcoming. Good source of knowledge of the local area. Very comfortable bed, great facilities, we’ll stay again. We were only staying for one night because we had a funeral to attend. We had to return to work the following day, but wished we could have extended our stay @ Elmsdale

We spent one night at the guest house and had a very comfortable, relaxed stay. A warm and friendly welcome from Clare, and lovely spacious and attractive room, with a very comfortable bed. A lovely personal touch of the shortbread biscuits and fresh milk. We both slept very well and then enjoyed a delicious full English breakfast. The whole place is very attractive and I would really recommend and stay.

My wife and I stayed at Elmsdale guest house for 4 nights. Its location is just some 5 minutes walk to the seafront. Our room had a very comfortable super-king sized bed. The en-suite facilities made good use of the confined space available. The guest house was very clean and we thoroughly enjoyed our freshly made breakfast. Clare has a lovely personality and was inclusive with all her customers. On reporting a drainage issue this was dealt with promptly and Clare was able to accommodate a slightly later check out time on our day of departure.

Met at the door, by name - it's the little things that really make a difference. Lovely room, really nice atmosphere to the place. Sadly, we never got a chance to experience the full breakfast experience as our train was cancelled and we had to get a much earlier one instead. We were, however, well looked after, at very short notice with a packed breakfast duly provided. If our experience is anything to go by, this is one to visit!

Upon pulling up at EGH in our taxi after a tough day on the SWC path we knew we were going to be spoilt. Clare, the owner, is very hospitable, knowledgeable, hardworking and friendly. She goes beyond the expected services, offering us traditional afternoon tea and providing a scrumptious packed breakfast for our early train departure.
