With Covid issues and travel abroad more difficult my wife and I decided to explore UK more. Having actually decided late on, to travel to Penzance we were limited somewhat on choice of hotels at the end of August. Hence arriving at the the Stanley. The location is great, 15 min slow walk with luggage, along the beachfront with lovely views if you have a sea facing room. Our room was the quaint top floor room which had a great outlook. Yes you need to watch you head due to sloping roof, but it made for a more homely feel. Imaginative use of space for storage. Getting to the room is via a last narrow staircase which can be awkward depending on cases. Breakfast was really good and the hosts were very accommodating on what was included on full English. A nice place to stay near the town, and the Scilly Isles ferry

One night stay before going to Isles of Scilly. Excellent, prompt communication from Kate when we had to amend our booking because of the train strikes. Parking a little bit tight. Pretty patio area with lots of colourful pots. Greeted by Bob the dog on arrival who guided us to Reception. I believe it was Roy who welcomed us and the helpful gardener took our luggage up to Room 8, twin on top floor. Stairs are steep and narrow but Roy said we could use fire escape stairs which were much easier. Ordered our breakfast from a wide range of choices, nothing too much trouble. Room is compact but spotlessly clean and freshly decorated in soft blue/greys with clever use of mirrors so seemed larger. No sea view here, a Velux skylight (stand on bed to open) but relatively quiet. A small funfair was taking place outside, don’t think it’s permanent and it finished promptly around 11. Decent sized TV, proper hairdryer, fluffy bath sheets, complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, good WiFi reception. A short walk to several local eateries. Small but comfy beds. Shower worked perfectly. Breakfast served in room facing sea front, generous portions. Would definitely stay here again if visiting IOS.

I have absolutely loved staying here, I’m still staying here as I write this and wanted to let folks know what great value for money this place is. We were greeted by a gentleman, think he was the porter and general assistant. (Yorkshire accent) and the waitress who served us our breakfast is so lovely with nothing being too much to ask. These two are an asset to this hotel and make it so welcoming and warming to return after exploring Cornwall.

This is defiantly a hotel more than a guest house with the staff making it

Thanks again!

We stayed here one night and arrived earlier than the check in time but as our room was ready, they let us check in early which was lovely. Free parking outside was a bonus. The room was spacious with a lovely view of the sea and en suite. Comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was a bit haphazard although the guy serving us was apologetic and very accommodating. One cup and one orange juice was brought up initially, then our English breakfasts but with no cutlery nor serviettes. Then the other cup and orange juice arrived. People on the next table gave us their cutlery as they had just ordered and we weren’t sure when they would come out as he kept going off to get one thing and coming back with something else…everyone had apparently had breakfast at the same time. The tea arrived eventually and when we had finished our breakfast the toast arrived and he offered us jam or marmalade to go with it. A little bit fawlty towers but still an enjoyable stay and would recommend for the location, room comfort, free breakfast and friendliness of staff.

This was not a very comfortable stay. Unfortunately we were given Room 7 in the attic, with very limited head rooms and beams and ceilings going in all directions - a real problem for my husband at 6ft4' and even me at 5ft8''. The biggest issue was the bed which was pushed into the eaves - resulting in you hitting your head on the 'ceiling' and my husband's feet having to hang off the bottom of the bed.Room was nicely decorated & with en suite, ingenious use of space, but really the smallest room, not practical or value for money. Breakfast, was exactly as the reviewer's below have stated. We were the people next to them who gave them the cutlery....There was no choice for breakfast, just a full English & everything was a bit random and very Fawlty Towers. Probably wouldn't stay again - certainly not in Room 7 at any rate, the photos of other rooms in the building look much more comfortable.

Travelling for work we were let down by our original hotel. The hosts at The Stanley accommodated us (and our dog) at short notice on a cold and windy evening. We were given a friendly welcome and shown to a room that was very clean and comfortable. Roy took our breakfast order and provided cutlery for our takeaway dinner.
The sea view from our window was stunning and with waves crashing over the pavement opposite we were very happy to be inside. A great location for a summer break, I'm sure.
The breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. Due to COVID the dining room was shut, our food was delivered to our room.
We are very grateful for the excellent service that we received from our very kind hosts.

View across the bay from our room and the dining room is amazing, the room was clean and the bed comfortable and the breakfast was good and plentiful.
They advertise ample free parking but whilst we were there it was a farce.!! We stayed for four days, three nights and when we arrived the parking area was almost full with about 10 cars parked in all sorts of places and alignments leaving just two spaces in the middle in tandem so we had no choice but to park there blocking several cars in and eventually being blocked in ourselves. The gentleman inside told us it wasn't a problem as the cars were all there's, what ever that meant.??
During our stay none of those 10 cars moved and early one morning we had a knock at the room door asking us to move our car so someone could get out and on the next day we went for a walk around Penzance early one morning to find we were blocked in when we returned and couldn't get out. It took about half an hour to find out it was on of the clearers who did move it. I have to say the whole matter of parking at this B&B is a total farce and needs to be sorted, it shouldn't inconvenience paying guests.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at The Stanley, in a comfortable, clean, and spacious room, with a lovely sea view (even from the bathroom). The gentleman was very friendly and accommodating, and we were also greeted by Bob and Molly (the dogs). Breakfast was good, again with a lovely sea view. The free parking at the front of the property was "interesting" (a little chaotic) but served us very well. Excellently placed in Penzance, easy walking to bars, restaurants etc, and good access to visit other nearby attractions. We would happily stay again.

This was our first break following lockdown and we weren’t disappointed. From being welcomed on arrival, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable and clean with fantastic views over the bay. Breakfast excellent and although could not have tea facilities in the room because of Covid tea was available when requested. Will definitely be back.

Great position, close to the bay and the centre of town. Rooms were clean and neat. Full English breakfast provided. Owners were lovely and it was a really nice place to stay.
Be aware, that there are stairs and tight ones, but this was not an issue for me.
