The decor here is a cross between old man bar and Thai gilded and bejewelled mirrors. So peculiar. The staff are really friendly, however, and there is a gin specialism to the bar. There was a great band of old guys playing and they attracted a good crowd.

Stayed here for 2 nights in November on a Friday and Saturday nights, my wife and I we're in town to visit relatives, I decided to book in here because of reading the negative reviews. The hotel overall is a little dated in its decor, but it is clean, we had room 21 which had a view towards St Michaels... More

Old and dated needs a bit of sprucing up the catch on the sash window in our room broke at 1 in the morning the window was open full, it was November and cold outside when I told the manager in the morning his reply was "what do expect for a 500 year old building" the hair dryer was broken.... Can hardly believe hotels like this still exist! Apart from a really good cooked breakfast and friendly staff, the rest was truly awful. The bedroom was sad, with very old and tired furniture, but the bathroom was a real shock! Mould everywhere, with paper coming off the wall and a badly damaged plughole in the bath. We laughed ourselves to... More

We dropped into the Union Hotel bar late one Saturday evening. There was a jazz band playing, the bar was fairly crowded. We did manage to find a free corner in which to sit, there was no sign of the crowd thinning out. We felt like we had entered a parallel universe, perhaps one where the fashions and mores of... The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good and the waiting staff were good. The rest was awful. The room smelt musty and damp, the decor was very very dated. The building needs total refurbishment and whilst it's being done, the owner should go on an hospitality course. He was very rude and clearly knew nothing about customer service. Don't... More

This was very basic and below average. The ensuite didn't have a shower, was very squeezey and the bedroom floor was slopping on a wicked angle (we used the bibles to try level up the legs!)The room was hot (no aircon) and some sort of fan was running outside all night. There wasn't even a chair in the room. The staff were friendly though... I just loved the character of this hotel. Howey came to meet us and was very friendly. There are beautiful stone walls and grand stairs and a comfy room for three of us. We had a good meal in the bar and the breakfast room was full of character. Close to get to St Michaels mount which is a must... More
