Upon checking i was met by a security guard at the door. He asked me where my mask was. I am medically exempt from wearing one, so I told him. He then went onto challenge me. “Under what grounds are you medically exempt” I didn’t need to tell him but already feeling uneasy and anxious I told him all 3 of my conditions. He then had the absolute cheek to see my medication to prove it!!! I laughed at him and said no! My medical back ground and medication is between me and my medical professionals, not me and a cocky security guard that broke government guidelines and challenged me!!! We then only allowed me inside to check in because I shown him the exempt download from gov.uk that absolutely anyone can download. This truly affected the rest of my holiday and I felt uneasy and refused to walk into the building again.

The restaurant wasn’t too bad. Food was edible, although not too great. The staff were lovely, but a little bit forgetful with the things we ordered. We are in there again for breakfast on check out day.

They have a lovely little park for the children, but it isn’t pushchair accessible. Getting to the park resulted in my pushchair being broken.

The caravan was lovely, but it wasn’t particularly clean, which is shocking really considering the extra measures that were supposed to be in place. The kitchen equipment, pans etc were not clean, the cooker had not been clean on arrival. We also found Flea like bugs in the caravan.

They have a little shop on site, which is quite cheap, although had been selling food out of date. The staff in there also seemed clueless to questions.

Ordering drinks is really easy, and they have WiFi if you need it, it’s a just on an app and you pay using card. Drinks were not cheap, but it’s what you expect for a holiday park.

The grounds were beautiful, lots of space for the children to run around, nice for a chill holiday to enjoy scenery. My children enjoyed exploring and having freedom in such an large, but enclosed, safe space. The swimming pool was lovely, we had to book our slot as expected. But they pool attendants were extremely friendly, and promptly got everyone out on time to sanitise the area.

We also played crazy golf, which was lots of fun. It was nice to be able to do some on site activities because it meant we could still enjoy ourselves without going further afield.

Overall we did enjoy our time away, and I would consider returning when Covid is over, in a non pet caravan.

Hello Vickie This is one aspect of the Corona Virus that is a nightmare and one that I was hoping I did not have to answer. Unfortunately, there are a large number of people who think that rules do not apply to them and this totally diminishes the personal integrity of decent people such as your good self. Perhaps our man was a little overzealous, and for that I apologise, but I feel sure you will understand the desperation of the local people to keep the virus at bay. We won't hang him out to dry but I will ask the manager to have a word. I can see from the remainder of your review that this initial episode did not spoil the remainder of your stay with us and I am delighted to read that you would come back to see us again when the pandemic is under control. Our lodge was clean, tidy and well laid out. The site was Covid safe including the bar area where staff wore face shields. All visitors kept their distance with one another
Including in the shop (only 2 in at any time), tables inside and out spaced fairly apart.

The restaurant was spotless, whilst we dined the waitress cleaned down all surfaces after every customer. The ‘eat out to help out’ scheme proved to be very popular and the restaurant was very busy. Nothing was too much for the staff and she was excellent with our children, especially when it came to ordering their ice creams, they were all especially entertained when the lady joked around with them, including our young autistic son who couldn’t stop smiling.

We had a small complaint with our food order which was quickly rectified without any problem from the chef. The food is excellent quality and price (especially with the gov scheme).

Looe is a beautiful part of Cornwall and we are already looking to book for the next season. Thank you to all.

Hello To The Jacksons What a lovely review! Thank you, we really appreciate it. Your 5 star praise will mean so much to the manager, Gillian and her team at the park. They all work extremely hard to make everyone’s stay enjoyable. Once again our catering team has been singled out for extra praise and there is no doubt that they deserve it. They are doing a brilliant job in extreme circumstances and are working really hard to serve the best food possible. I am pleased to hear that you will be coming back to see us next year, let’s hope that it’s quite soon - our returning customers are so important to us. Pat Guest Relations

This is our second trip to Killigarth and we booked a Silver 2 Bed Pet friendly caravan. We were positioned overlooking a beautiful valley in Valley View in a very modern caravan. The cleanliness was impeccable and we saw that the cleaning teams were really doing a fabulous job deep cleaning caravans after guests departed. Check in was very quick and safe as there was a clear one way system with guests requested to wear masks when inside. Understandably the check in was an hour later than normal at 5pm to allow for the time needed for cleaning vans. We had an issue with the oven door which fell off on day 2 as we were preparing to cook dinner so we were given a free meal in the onsite restaurant. This gesture was much appreciated and I was staggered that they put no limit on the amount we could order! The door was replaced the next day while we were out, which was excellent customer service. The coastal walk is really accessible from the site and we had a beautiful walk into Polperro along it- downhill there but be prepared for the uphill walk back! Lucky the views are so good! Looe was also lovely and we visited several times. We also drove over to Port Isaac (40-45 min drive) to see where Doc Martin is filmed and had a lovely day in the nearby Golitha Falls (woodland with scenic waterfalls) with the dog (20 min drive). We had a great holiday in what has been the strangest year and we have booked again for October! John Fowler can't be beaten in our experience!

Hello Melanie Thank you for taking the time to leave your fantastic 5 star review. It is satisfying to hear that you had a great time on our park. It is obviously very difficult for our staff working in entirely new circumstances, but in true John Fowler Holiday Tradition everyone is stepping up to the mark and I have passed on your feedback on to the department managers so they can share this success with their teams. We are very fortunate with the location of our park in such an amazing part of Cornwall and all that it has to offer. We are delighted that you were able to share that experience. We look forward to welcoming you again in October. Pat Guest Relations

Having read some mixed reviews, I was a little apprehensive as we booked a three night weekend break through UK Holidays in The Sun promotion - which usually means 'bronze or budget' accommodation. Our arrival time was 6pm. We arrived just before 6pm and our accommodation was ready for us, the reception staff and security were friendly. Our caravan was a budget Derwent caravan. The caravan was massive, and somehow we'd managed to get an accessible van which had a wet room, ramp outside, etc. It was basic but had everything we needed for a weekend, it was very clean and smelled of bleach on our arrival, which assured me it had been cleaned thoroughly. The only downfall was, there were no coat hangers in any of the wardrobes! Not a major issue as I'd taken my own anyway, but, my partner didn't take any; and I wasn't sharing mine!! The beds were really comfortable and the linen was spotlessly clean.
We used the clubhouse on two evenings, nice friendly staff and well controlled bar ordering system. We ordered a takeaway on our last night, which was reasonably priced and food very nice. Overall good experience and would definitely go back. For the price we paid via The Sun offer, it was excellent value for money!!

Hello Justine Thank you for taking the time to write such a fantastic 5 star review. We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and how helpful and friendly the staff were. Your review clearly points out that which most of us already know – the few poor reviews make it sound worse than it really is. It is a total mystery to us why some people choose to post them rather than take the matter up with the park management. All the staff work really hard to make everyone feel welcome, as you experienced. Coat hangers? People obviously inadvertently take them home when they are packing - your partner need not have attempted stealing from you, all that it takes is to go to reception and get some more. Life in Cornwall is perhaps a little simpler than you thought. Let me thank you again for taking the time to leave this lovely review and we look forward to welcoming you back to our park very soon. Stayed as a couple this past week. Cannot fault the place. On arrival receptionist was very nice and kept us fully informed as to when our accommodation would be ready as we had arrived early. The park itself is beautifully presented, not a spot of rubbish or unkept areas anywhere. The club, bar and restaurant were lovely and clean, food was delicious with generous portions, bar prices were also very fair. On arrival at our accommodation the door was sealed with a sign informing us that it had been cleaned and sanitised and sealed (stayed during covid restrictions), on entering we found it to be spotlessly clean and very well equipped. All of the staff that we came in to contact with were very approachable and helpful.
The park is well situated for both Looe and Polperro with a lovely costal walk down in to Polperro from the park (very steep). I would highly recommend this Park and we will certainly be trying another John Fowler park in the future.

This year was the first year on holiday with our first grandchild. As we are a family of 7 adults and one baby we chose the Oceanview cottage for space and enough bedrooms. This wasn't our first holiday on this park but it was in this accommodation and we weren't disappointed. The property itself is huge, lots of choice bedroom wise, a big kitchen, huge living room and a family bathroom plus ensuite and the added bonus of a downstairs loo. The garden was also beautiful and my youngest enjoyed a midnight read under the stars.
When we arrived there was a gift of cider in the fridge with a note and 3 welcome packs (biscuits, tea, coffee etc) and 3 washing up/dishwasher packs which were all very welcoming and very useful. We unpacked and started what was a fantastic holiday. We used the club on the first night, just for one drink (next year we'll have 2 little ones so will likely visit that more for the entertainment). We used the pool as my daughter and bonus son took their little baby girl for her first swim. Everything was lovely and clean and there was a lifeguard on duty.
The shop was also useful and we used the takeaway too which had a good menu for choice.
We would definitely choose this cottage again when we come back in a couple of years time as it was perfect for us and there was plenty of room for all of us and we didn't once feel on top of each other.

After an abysmal stay at Coombe Martin Beach Park last year, and the poor response/customer service to our complaints (of which there were many) we were reluctant to book with John Fowler again this year, but after a week at Killigarth Manor we are very glad we did. This is a wonderful park! The site is quiet, well situated and immaculately kept. You can tell a lot of thought and attention goes into the site and it’s maintenance which is all credit to the friendly, hardworking, welcoming team that manage it. We booked a value pet caravan again, coming prepared for a shed of a caravan like we were given at Coombe Martin Beach Park last year. We needn’t have worried. We were blown away by the excellent condition of the caravan, and how clean and fresh it was. Such a stark contrast. No mould, no damp, no worn mattresses with springs that dig into your flesh nor grate like rusty nails every time you move. Just a beautiful, cared for clean caravan. It made such a difference to our over all experience and entire holiday.
The park is within walking distance of Talland Bay and Polperro via a pretty costal path - Polperro bring one of the prettiest seaside villages I’ve ever seen. The park is the perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of Cornwall that must surely offer something for everyone. We have loved every second of our week long stay and will most definitely be back in the future. Thank you Killigarth Manor for a lovely holiday.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay in one of the 3 bed apartments in the Manor House. It was our first visit and we had high hopes of a perfect staycation during this strange COVID-19 summer. Our hopes were met as soon as we walked into the lovely, clean and modern apartment spanning 2 floors. Check in was safe, with a one way system and all staff were helpful and courteous. The Manor House is literally next door to Reception, opposite the outdoor bar and grass area with ample parking and just a short walk to the amazing Valley views. There was plenty of space with a large, well equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area and then 2 double and 1 twin bedded rooms. The bathroom is spacious with bath and shower - our only gripe was the 1 toilet between 7 people so the addition of an extra downstairs toilet would benefit greatly.
Facilities on site are good, the indoor pool had just opened and you could book a slot so as to limit numbers. The shop had all essentials you would need and you could order food to your outdoor table or takeaway (all staff wore gloves and visors) The park didn’t feel busy at all even though all vans/lodges looked occupied. What makes Killigarth a real gem is it’s location, just a short walk to Talland Bay and Polperro (although take note the hills are very steep!) The views from the coastal path are unrivalled and we much preferred going this longer way over the direct roads. We were very impressed with our first visit to Killigarth and would highly recommend it.

Great holiday park for families.
We stayed for 5 days with our two boys (age 8 and 5) and we all had a fantastic time, kids cried when it was time to leave. Our caravan was spotless, almost as if everything was brand new which I was very happy about as the idea of a dirty caravan and having to do my own cleaning once we arrived is hell to me.
The park has lots of amenities, a staffed reception, a swimming pool (a little dated but perfectly fine) a small play park, a laundry room and a clubhouse. My husband took our 8 year old to the evening entertainment one evening but they came back after about 30 mins and said it wasn’t really that great so we didn’t bother again but to be fair, that’s not really our thing, we spent most evenings out and about visiting the local villages/ towns. We used the takeaway twice which was very tasty, just your basic kind of food but great value.
We paid for a breakfast pack to be left for us on arrival but it wasn’t there when we arrived so I asked at reception and it was delivered to the door within ten minutes which was great.
I would certainly recommend Killigarth to anyone wanting to stay in the local area and use the place as a base to do other things as we did. Polperro is really close, about 5 min drive, Looe is 10/15 mins in car and Fowey is about 34-40 mins in car - all lovely places that we visited. There is a cute little beach close to the holiday park too with a cafe which was very pleasant.
Some info just in case you need it as I was trying to find this out before I came, towels are not provided but you can rent them. All bed linen is provided, including spare bits. There is a FreeSat TV but no wifi so we just let the kids use our phone wifi on their iPads when they wanted to use them. All cutlery is provided as well as crockery and pans and pots/ utensils and tin openers etc - all you would need. There was s broom but no dustpan and brush and I would recommend bringing your own cleaning bits and kitchen roll and dry snacks/ cereal etc as the shop onsite is quite pricey , £2.50 for a loaf of bread, £3 for 6 eggs etc and 2 litre bottle of Pepsi was £3 or there abouts I think so yeah, just try and bring as much as you can and don’t forget toilet roll and black bin liners.
Also download the John Fowler app because that’s how you book your swimming times etc each day.
Great holiday though, if we come back to this area of Cornwall again we will definitely stay here again.

Stayed as a party of 5 (4 adults and 1 child) Fri to Mon in a 3 bedroom silver lodge, which whilst a little dusty and weathered, perfectly accommodated our needs. We ate at a the chefs corner multiple times - fantastic value for money in terms of food quality and quantity. My 3year old used the park and the pool and he had the best time. Took a walk into Looe and had a great afternoon and also ventured into polperro and had a great day at the beach.

Do you allow touring caravans at killigarth?
Answer from WalesAngie

There are bus stops just outside the caravan park that you can catch to Looe, the coastal path to Polperro takes about 20 minutes but you can walk down the hill on a proper foot path , not as pretty as it’s a main road but about the same duration.
