Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My friends and I visited the Crumplehorn at 10:30 on Friday evening (door open and lights on), asking for a drink whilst we waited for the last bus at 11pm (bus stop located opposite the pub and people often make it their last pub stop whilst they wait). The young girl behind the bar rudely told that she would not serve us as she had had no customers for a while (a couple were actually sat drinking at the time) and she was closing early. We said that we only wanted a quick half pint but was met with the comment of, “IF YOU WANT A LATE DRINK, DON’T COME TO CORNWALL!” She then abruptly ushered us out and locked the door behind us. Absolutely disgusting attitude from who we are lead to believe was the owner’s son’s partner!! We are locals who have lived in Looe/Polperro for over 30 years and worked in hospitality ourselves. 10:30 on a Friday night in July is hardly late and asking for a drink not unreasonable. Not exactly a poster for welcoming tourism to Polperro! Yep of our friends were in holiday and have left vowing never to return to Polperro again as very unwelcoming. Such a shame!!

We are just back from a great relaxing weekend at the crumplehorn. Our room was nice and bright with crisp white bed linen and fluffy towels. Bathroom nice and clean. We had the buffet breakfast and then ate in the pub in the evenings, staff friendly and food hot and tasty. We will certainly be back

Mixed review: Check-in is 1pm-3pm, so you have to plan your 1st day around that. Mattresses squashed down to thin & uncomfortable. Car park: allocated spaces, but very tight - 2 cars were blocked in and a 3rd space appeared to be 5' wide when we arrived - better spacing would be possible if they fenced off a bigger area at the expense of an outdoor table or 2 (large car-park nearby, but presumably it can be full up. No street parking). Toilet door dirty, shower pressure was poor, but otherwise bathroom not bad. Spacious lounge in apartment. Staff pleasant. Meals outdoors served in cardboard boxes with plastic cutlery, and limited choice. Breakfast continental buffet with fresh fruit. Great location. Stay again? - no.

The Crumplehorn Inn is a fantastic place to stay. The warm welcome by the staff, Sharon, who showed us to our apartment, deserves a special word. She was so very friendly and professional, especially at breakfast. The breakfast was a lovely choice of a continental breakfast. There is nothing to complain about at hr Crumplehorn. We will definitely stay there again, hopefully in the same apartment (Trelawny)

My wife and I booked a suite for two nights. The location was good and we hoped to be staying in an oldy worldy pub as shown in the photos. The truth was we were in a 70’s a run down side extension from the ‘70’s. The room was an absolute disgrace. The bedroom was small with a sink from the 1970’s in it. The carpet was very old and the towels were tired with bleach stains on one of them. The bathroom sink was cracked and there was rust around plug attachment, the back of the door was grubby and dirty from hands. There was a kitchenette so at some point had been a self catering apartment. The worktop was chipped and the plastics on the fridge had yellowed with age. The entrance to the suite was up some back stairs behind the building, past the kitchen and gas bottles. I would guess that the room hadn’t had a full refurb for maybe 40 years. The place tainted an otherwise nice visit to Polperro.

We have stayed at The Crumplehorn Inn many times. It's perfect for our requirments. Our apartment consisted of bedroom, shower room, kitchenette, lounge/diner. Continental breakfast included, designated parking places, great food and drink in the pub and it has a wonderful ambience. The staff are cheerful and helpful and if you don't want to drive, there is a bus stop opposite. Dog friendly (not that we have one), live music outside in the summer months. Use it as a base or if the weather is not so good, you can stay in and not feel cramped as you might in a hotel room. Highly recommended.

We, as a family of 12, had dinner on 3rd August. We'd looked up their website to see what was being offered and were pleased with much fish on offer. However when we arrived it wasn't the menu we'd expected, it was all typically pub food. When asked why, the staff said the menu had changed for the summer but they hadn't updated their website. It was to be a special birthday meal for someone who only eats fish - we were so disappointed. Staff and venue were delightful

Myself and my wife stayed at Millys b&b, for the first week in August, across the road from the ‘Crumplehorn’, so we were frequently (every day), popping in for drinks &/or food, the service from all the girls and guys working there was exemplary, and the food menu was extensive and cooked perfectly, one evening, after having had a lengthy day out and about, my wife asked me to pop over to get some food to eat in the room, I then ordered the food and when ready, I realised it was too much to carry, the young lady then offered to help me carry it across the road, her name was Ellie, I thought that was so nice of her, we will definitely visit the Crumplehorn again, a good experience.
