Spend your holidays with us in Downalong, a labyrinth of cobbled lanes which used to be the fisherman's quarter in the oldest part of St Ives. Cornerways was built in the 1830s and has been a Guest House for over 70 years. Only 50 yards from the harbour, beaches and restaurants, Daphne Du Maurier stayed here in the 1940's. The Tate Gallery, and St Ives Art School are only 150 yards away. Two of our rooms overlook the harbour and bay beyond. With a modern feel that echoes the artists’ quarter in which it sits, Cornerways’ rooms have been renovated and totally redecorated over the last 7 years and all have new en-suites. All bedrooms have LCD TVs, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, fridges and complimentary bottled water. The 3' thick Cornish Granite walls and no passing traffic will ensure you a snug & quiet night’s sleep.

I stayed at Cornerways for a couple of nights...I last stayed when I was a kid, more than 25 years ago. A lot has changed since then! A warm welcome when I arrived, and the room was really cosy and charming. I could barely hear anything else while I was there - so quiet, and a really comfortable bed. No breakfast is provided, but there's a fridge in the room with some milk provided, and lots of breakfast choices locally.

Ive stayed here a couple of times now. The location is absolutely fantastic, central to the best beaches and just out of the hustle and bustle enough in the busy periods. Cant fault the place to be honest, although the owners Chris and Francine are wonderfully helpful, everything you need to know regarding places to eat and getting around is displayed for convenience. Well decorated, quirky, and the historical links to Daphne De Maurier really give a special feel when I stay. Thoroughly recommend!

Response from Christopher Worker, Owner at Cornerways Guest House

Hi. Thank you for your review. We are located on a street and unfortunately we cannot control who parks outside. There is also alot of building work going on around the area so there have been alot of vans recently. We are happy to hear you find our guest house lovely however and we look forward to welcoming you back to Cornerways. Kind regards, Francine and Chris

We were delighted to arrive at our comfortable, cosy, interesting, very clean and warm room - with a view of a very pretty bit of street on a corner - of course! Hence the name. This wasn't a very large room, and the bathroom was compact to say the least, but we loved the place where we were warmly welcomed by Francine. Highly recommended for a stay in St Ives.

This is the perfect place to stay in St Ives, just metres from The Sloop you are right in the heart of things. Hosts Chris & Francine were super friendly and our room was lovely, decorated tastefully and everything looked clean & new. No parking at the premises but we took the advice of our hosts and parked at the Rugby Club and took a short taxi ride to our accommodation. Much better than trying to negotiate those narrow streets!

I had a wonderful stay at Cornerways. I enquired about storing luggage and received an instant response. I was offered a cup of tea on arrival and was made to feel very welcome. Room was clean and comfortable and no quibbles when I asked if the heating could be put on (the changeable weather during my stay meant I felt the cold!). I was in Jeanne, on the ground floor. Blinds enabled privacy whilst still letting in light if required. Great location, 5 minutes walk to Porthmeor beach.

This is our 3rd time staying at Cornerways. We have stayed in a few of the rooms, all are extremely clean with comfortable beds. Sandra room has lovely sea views. There's a fridge with complimentary bottled water. Kettle and tea, coffee and milk provided. Wifi is also provided. Cornerways is perfectly located close to the harbour. Chris and Francine are very friendly and helpful hosts, nothing is too much trouble. We enjoy staying here and look foward to our next stay. I cannot fault this property and would happily recommend Cornerways.

We stayed at Cornerways for a couple of very restful days in a comfortable and exceptionally clean room. The b and b is full of character, with welcoming hosts who were a pleasure to talk with. They are dog friendly and our retriever was soon at home in our lovely room with us. Rooms are very pleasant indeed, some with wonderful views. We are looking forward to future stays. Thanks for having us!
