Apart from the location, there is little to recommend the Carlyon Guest House! We were 3 female friends who booked 2 rooms at Carlyon for 4 nights. My single room was on the top floor - great view but oh - it was so grimy! The shower base filled with water when I showered - and when I told the... More

This is the second time I've stayed at the Carlyon, 4/5 years and a change of owner apart. What brought me back here was two simple things: Location (and therefore also the view) and price. In terms of the price, St Ives can be an expensive place to stay, and the Carlyon was at the more realistic (for me) end... More

Lovely manager/landlady but room poor and overpriced, even for this part of the world. Let me get straight the point. I know you don't get much for your money as far as accommodation goes in St Ives goes but our room (2A) didn't have a proper window (I mean one you could actually look out of!) - extraordinary!! The room... More

The Carlyon Guest House is just round the corner from the Railway station and the bus station. I was in Room 1, which is a single room on the first floor with a sea view. The room has a large bay window with a great view of Porthminster beach. Breakfast was at 0830-0930, service was quick and the staff were... More

Avoid smoked salmon breakfast and don't try and bend over in the bathroom as no room to do this. The room was shabby and in need of modernisation - as many have been crammed into the space as possible. Also the great view comes at the expense of being on the main road into St Ives that is really noisy... More

The B&B was in a good position, but needs updating. Our room was extremely small, there was a window in the roof which had a dirty old blind. The bathroom was terrible, dirty toilet, shower which kept going cold, the floor flooded every time we showered too. All the tiles in the bathroom looked old and grotty, the whole bathroom... More
