From the minute you walk in the door until the minute you leave, you are looked after and made to feel so welcome. All the staff are outstanding, both front of house and behind the scenes. The standard of cleanliness never drops, thank you to those staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the rooms so spotless. There is always the sound of laughter and happy chatter coming from behind the door in the kitchen and the food that is delivered to your table at any time of day is outstanding. We have never tasted such a delicious cream tea as we had during our last visit. (I must ask Nancy for her scone recipe - I hope it's not a secret!) There is always cheery conversation to be had from the staff who look after you, but they are never intrusive. One should not forget the gardeners who keep the garden looking beautiful throughout the season. Malcolm has a winning formula here. We can't wait until we see you again. Wish we were there!

I don't know how Malcolm does it, but despite staff getting married or moving on for other reasons he always manages to find terrific new people. What with advancing years and a bit of infirmity and the G7, we didn't venture out much this year, and sat around in the garden quite a bit. The Blue Hayes staff had an uncanny way of appearing whenever we felt like some refreshment. Willing and prompt service and always with a smile. Wonderful! We'll be back next year!

We were unable to get to Blue Hayes last year, once due to the virus and then due to illness. We had a lovely week this year. Even though Malcolm was short staffed the standard was the same as ever. The cleanliness was as usual spotless. The staff were just as attentive as they have always been and so charming. The breakfasts, as always, were scrumptious and were so generous. We had no need to eat again until the evening. We can't wait to visit again next year.

We have stayed in St Ives a few times over the past 6 years but only came across Blue Hayes this year - wish we had spotted it earlier! A great find and definitely the best place we have stayed. The booking process was first class and we were greeted by Malcolm (the owner) and Tessa on arrival and given a full tour. Due to the hotel being full we had to change rooms during our stay to get the time we wanted there - that was seamless and actually gave us experience of both the Garden Suite and Godrevy Suite, both of which were fabulous rooms. The hotel is impeccably furnished and nothing was too much trouble for Malcolm, Tessa, Alice and Ruth (the staff on duty while we were there). We had the light supper on the day of our arrival which was excellent - would certainly have had again another night but we had pre-booked other restaurants some time ahead of our holiday (necessary if you want to eat in particular restaurants). Breakfast was leisurely with a large choice and the hot food cooked to order - again excellent in every way. The restaurant and bar go directly out to the terrace (can have breakfast and drinks there on nice days) which has superb views of the sea and down to St Ives. The bar was open between 6.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. while we were there and provides a great setting to relax with a drink in hand! There are 6 suites which makes for a quiet stay (not suitable if you want a busy, lively hotel) and means you get personal and quality service for the duration of your stay. There are parking places for all of the suites which is essential if you have ever had the experience of trying to park in St Ives! The hotel is a 10/15 minute walk into St Ives either via the coastal path (gate from hotel provides direct access onto path) or road making it easy to get to the beaches and town. Thank you Malcolm and your superb team. We had a lovely time at Blue Hayes and will certainly return.

So, this year we decided to have our annual break in St Ives slightly later than in previous years. There were a few noticeable changes - it was a little quieter due to the end of the school holidays, for the first time we saw the Tour of Britain passing through the town and there has been a fair amount of new and very beautiful landscaping along the coastal path, probably in preparation for the recent G7 held earlier in the year. But, thank goodness there is something which never changes year on year and that is the extremely warm welcome Malcolm and his team greet us with and the high levels of service which follow on throughout our stay. The last few months have been difficult for most of us and especially for the hospitality business. Despite all the setbacks, Malcolm has maintained his consistently high standards whilst still incorporating all the necessary safety precautions surrounding Covid. The moment you enter Blue Hayes you feel surrounded by a sense of peace and tranquility - from the cream and blue calming decor throughout to the beautifully Mediterranean inspired landscaped gardens coupled with the unobtrusive but decidedly welcoming team you feel immediately relaxed. The suites which overlook the bay, in addition to the outside dining terrace have terrific views over St Ives harbour and beyond and the small gate right at the bottom of the lush gardens gives direct access on to the south west coastal path - Porthminster beach being within 10 minutes walk from the hotel So, you can see why Blue Hayes will always be top of our ‘go back to’ list year on year. So, to Malcolm and the great team - Alice, Tessa, Nancy, Ruth and Michael - a big thanks for a fab break - see you all again soon x
