Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing site, super views and facilities were modern and clean. Pitches were good and most had a sea view The Quarterdeck restaurant produces brilliant food but a little expensive. Only slight complaint was that we arrived late so reception was shut. Had it of been open we would have been handed a 10% discount which we could have used towards the meal we had on our first night which would have resulted in a significant discount. No one’s fault but I was a little surprised nobody mentioned it. Overall it was great and we will be back

Would of given this site 5/5 … but it would of had full marks , but lost a point to a couple of very minor niggles we had. 1 : shower cubicles we’re far to narrow & had shower curtains.. hmmmm , yes shower curtains…facilities in the shower block were spotless, well maintained & warm. 2 : pitch size was quite small on our sea view pitch.. to close to our neighbours & the access to the pitch gets very muddy getting onto hard standing, needs gravel to the rd. Buildings work didn’t bother us, works traffic we’re respectful of driving through site with an escort. However there is other site traffic passing through which seem to ignore the 10mph speed limit.. needs a couple of sleeping policeman .. Site access is good nothing really narrow to be concerned about when towing. Site has got a lovely looking cafe/ restaurant newly opened , but expect to pay st ives prices. There is a small swimming pool next to restaurant which is an additional £3.50, this pool is over looked by the cafe. You can easily walk to st Ives town / beaches within minutes of the site, however bit of steep climb back to site, there is a bus service available down in st ives which will bring you back to site if required which picks up outside Tate gallery. If you are looking for a good caravan touring site in st Ives , with outstanding views this is the one. Would we come back to this site again ? Yes definitely .

We arrived at about 5.30pm on Sunday evening hoping for a 3rd time lucky camping stop as we hadn’t booked anywhere so were just trying to find somewhere! The owner (?) was in reception and was very friendly and helpful, yes, they had a pitch for 2 nights so we chose The Meadow field as we didn’t need EHU. It was our ideal site as there were no marked spots here, just park up where you like. The joy of going away in October are the lack of crowds!!! We set up our van and awning and headed off for a meal at the restaurant that had opened in May. Wow! The food was amazing and the waitress very friendly and attentive. We had a three course meal plus bottle of wine with great service, not what I imagined at all on a campsite! The walk into town is either pretty coastal path or directly down the hill. We did both walks….despite the rain it was still lovely! The shower facilities are v v good. The absolute best bit was meeting the ? Resident cat….very friendly and liked snoozing in our van! We will be back !

Best caravan park we have stayed in. We stayed in Seascape caravan which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with all necessary equipment provided and very quiet and peaceful at night. Short walk into beautiful St Ives town (via Bullans Lane as this is less steep than other routes). Recommend Rajpoot Indian Restaurant, The Union Inn (very tasty lunches). Thank you Ayr Park for making our stay so enjoyable.

Ayr Holiday park came to the rescue when John Fowler St Ives Holiday Village let us down badly. We rang last minute for a booking and thankfully they had a caravan for us immediately! The lady on reception was very helpful and we had a lovely, relaxing break for 10 days. We stayed in a seascape caravan with a partial sea view, which was clean and tidy. Loved every minute! The new Quarterdeck restaurant, bar and pool is a great addition and the park was as always clean and tidy. Thanks again for accommodating us at the last minute and making our holiday! See you again soon! 👍🏻😁 Mick & Elaine

Nice site with gorgeous views of St Ives. New restaurant is lovely. Short walk into town via a steep hill. New toilet block is nice and modern but drainage needs some attention - the whole room floods and you end up standing in the same water that has sloshed around the toilet/toilet brush. Ensure you wear flip flops and don’t leave anything on the floor (water goes all the way up to the door!).

Before booking our stay we made Ayr holiday park of my disability. We arrived late, on the first night due to road closure of the major route and very long diversions. We arrived minutes before the reception closes for the day. We had a problem with our camping pitch level and proximity to the shower facility due to my disability. I was unable to enter and exit our camper van due to the severe slopping of the pitch we were given. We then noticed that several level pitches became available the following day and we asked to be moved, but the reception staff have refused. We were told that other people have booked those pitches , some for a night or two, we then asked them it they could help us out to swap, since we are booked to stay for a whole week. But the receptionist just refused to do it and we were told that it’s either we stay where we are or just leave and get a refund minus 2 days worth of fee and our previous night stay. Just as when we were leaving, we were told that there was a hard standing cancellation next to the toilet block but by then we were already booked on another campsite and so, we left.

We’d tried to get into Ayr holiday park this year, but had left it too late, so booked elsewhere. However, as we were in the area, we visited it yesterday in the hope that we could book for next year. We parked up and asked in reception if we could have a walk around the site. I felt that, whilst not actually rude, the reception staff were, shall we say, disinterested. After walking around we returned to reception and asked if we could book for next year. Again, not actually rude, but no small talk, just got the book out, said ‘what date.’ When we asked about certain obviously prime pitches, pitches, we were told they were already booked up and that we’d have to wait for somebody to die before one became available. Apparently once you’ve stayed there once, you get priority with regard to booking it again for the next year. Obviously people aren’t going to miss out on that, but it seems to be a very unfair way of doing it. Easier for them, and that’s no doubt why they seem not particularly bothered whether you book or not. Those prime pitches may as well be seasonal as it’s highly unlikely anyone else is going to get a look in. That’s obviously why you can’t book touring pitches on line, because three quarters of them are always already gone!

Response from Andrew Baragwanath, General Manager at Ayr Holiday Park
Responded 29 Aug 2023
Thank you for your review, although I question how you can award a two star review when you have not stayed. You have made a number of false assumptions: You cannot book touring pitches on-line as it is a challenge to ensure that someone does not book a pitch that is unsuitable for the outfit they wish to site. Not all pitches are the same size so we find it is better to discuss people's requirements over the phone. We do not offer seasonal pitches. A high proportion of our customers return each year at the same time and have a favourite pitch.. We respect their loyalty and therefore would not let a pitch for the following year whilst the occupants are still on-site this year. If they depart and have not rebooked then the pitch is available for general sale. You were advised to phone after the dates you required had passed this year. I am sorry that you are disappointed but I do not agree that our way of working is unfair. We are already having booking requests for 2025 and I think it would be unfair to regular customers to sell 'their' pitch before they have even arrived in 2023. Perhaps if you do make a booking with us you will appreciate the way we do this. In defence of reception staff, they are under pressure in August and very busy with little time for small talk.

Managed to get into this camp short notice as I’d booked a site nearby with no amenities , so my life was saved. Had three nights facilities are great as is the food , showering and toilet facilities. The hill is good for the legs , so get out there and enjoy St Ives, it’s simply a beautiful place to visit.

We have been coming to this site, in beautiful St Ives, for many years and love the location, the care and attention given to maintaining the site. Our only regret this year was leaving our visit to the newly opened restaurant, The Quarterdeck, until our last night: the food and drink served here are fantastic and comparable to our favourite restaurants in town (I think the Espresso Martini was the best I've ever had!). We shall definitely be eating here more regularly next time we are in St Ives! Looking forward to our next stay at Ayr.
