Had a great stay over 5 nights, The staff were very friendly and courteous, Ollie behind the bar was efficient and a very likable chap, Duckie was very attentive and humerous in the restraunt and a all round great guy he was a laugh a minute (reminded me a bit of a young Basil Faulty. No offence meant Duckie) , Jay was exceptional she worked so hard doing long hours and still had a smile on here face and nothing no matter how small was too much trouble for her to deal with. Unfortunatley we dont know the other two ladies names who worked there but they were positive in their work attitude and very helpfull, pleasant and efficient.
The food was good and waiting times were short must say the full English breakfasts were spot on our thanks go to the Chefs and kitchen staff. Our accomadation room was a little tired but the beds and linen were clean and i think the new owner is in the process of re-vamping the establishment. Thank you all at the Cornishman for a great stay over.
We would stay here again.

We initially were going to book the "posh" hotel on the clifftop, but after having a look round and at their rooms we decided to look elsewhere and we were so glad that we did.
On a blustery March day as we approached The Cornishman Inn the smell of woodsmsoke from the open fire wafted through the air, drawing us to the very pretty facade so we decided to pop in and have a look around.
We walked in, with no booking at all to enquire if any rooms were available and were instantly greeted by three very lovely, welcoming ladies and offered a room.
The room was decorated to a lovely standard in neutral shades and had lots of little touches that were really lovely and was so much nicer than the so called posh hotel! A variety of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits was set up on a tray.
The room was a little chilly when we first went in but the lovely Jo switched on the heater as soon as she showed us in to our room and it heated up in minutes, if we had booked in advance I am sure the heater would have been switched on for us.
The bathroom was spotlessly clean and although the shower head looked as if it wouldn't be that powerful as it wasn't that big, it was fantastic, really powerful, easy to adjust the temperature and just heavenly on a chilly winter day. The towels were a really good size and just right and very clean.
The mattress is a sprung mattress and was a little on the firmer side for me, but that is just personal preference, maybe an extra mattress topper would be good for those that like a slightly softer mattress so you get the best of both worlds, this is not a criticism though, my husband loved it and was out like a light.
We were only staying one night and decided to try out the food and wow, we were so pleased that we did, it was absolutely gorgeous! We both opted for the rib eye steak and like it Medium Rare, it was cooked to perfection and the flavour was beautiful, you could taste that it was good quality meat. The skin on chips were perfectly cooked, the salad crisp and fresh and my allergies catered for flawlessly, without being made to feel difficult. We will definitely stay there again, but will also go out of our way for a meal as it would be worth it! I have a variety of allergies including gluten, onions, garlic and they are more than happy to accomodate.
The cooked breakfast, included in the price, was also good quality and cooked beautifully, there was also a selection of fruit juices, cerals, fruit and tea and coffee. There is also a huge garden that in the warmer months would be perfect, with or without children!! There is a really good selection of gin and rum, including some really delicious local ones!
The Cornishman Inn was a truly fantastic experience for us, the staff were amazing and really added to the whole experience. Forget booking anywhere else, if you want a truly fabulous stay book a room now, or turn up unexpectedly like we did!!

We love stopping at the Cornishman Inn when we visit Tintagel. Perfect after a long walk. Although the weather wasn't the best we called in as my boys were desperate to have a run around in the ample beer garden to the rear. The staff as always were friendly and efficient and very covid aware (masks on, hand sanitizer, sign in procedure for track and trace, seated for ordering). Drinks were reasonable and we had a very pleasant time until the children who live behind the fence adjacent to the carpark started making fun of my children who were playing together on the swings.

Generally this is something I would ignore but as a paying customer I found them both disrespectful and rude. In the end we left earlier than planned (we would have ordered food!) as we felt uncomfortable at their constant comments..in fact as we got up to leave they shouted 'Good they are going'. Now I know this is not directly your problem but it is when neighbours of yours are being rude towards your customers and potentially losing you money.

We arrived on the 27th July 2020 and were shown to our room, after a wait of about an hour, it seemed they were a little short staffed, we'd been travelling for some time, so didn't inspect the room closely. after a few moments, we noticed pet hairs on the bed, and what looked like a faeces stain on one of the pillows, so began to inspect closer, there were lots of pet hairs on the carpet and bed, and used soap packets in the shower, the room had obviously not been cleaned, but the bed covers just straightened up, in a rush !! I rushed down to reception to inform the young lady, who appeared to be mortified, Not half as much as my partner and I !!
They assured us, the room would be thoroughly cleaned, and offered us free drinks, which we gladly accepted, had I thought wisely, I would have declined and sought a hotel that would be more cleaner.
With being in a pandemic, we naturally panicked, and booked ourselves in for a Covid19 test, the morning after, so we had the inconvenience of travelling to Plymouth, losing half a day of our holiday.
In the morning, we rose and settled up, and got out of there, the owner said good morning to us, but not one offer of apologies were given.

Overall, I'd give this place a wide berth, in future.

Visited this hotel with other family members to attend a local family gathering but very disappointed. On arrival first impressions were fairly good looked OK and brief chat with landlord/owner. Decided to stay and have evening meal food fairly tasty but over priced.

The issue here was the atmosphere and lack of heating no heating meaning that we all ate while wearing our coats and lighting to room also left off a stove was in room but not lit. Very poor customer service which left us eating away from the hotel on the following 2 days a loss to the hotel but a gain to us as the food was cheaper and much better in other local venues.

On the plus side, the breakfast and breakfast room were great with a nice breakfast and environment. The room we stayed in was very poor cold bathroom and what heater there was fell off the wall on the first night. The floor had a large sunken dip and made a horrendous creaking noise everytime you moved you could also hear a conversation in the next room.

The owner of this establishment has a lot to learn when it comes to customer service. Dont stay here as there are far better establishments in the immediate area.

Super friendly welcoming staff. We were the first guests to stay at the Cornishman after they had just reopened from having had a refresh. Our room was comfortable and clean and had recently had a refurb with new bed, furniture, redecorated etc. Our breakfasts as part of our B and B were delicious made with local high quality products.
It was clear that Colin the owner was passionate about his food and business and this was reflected in the tasty and plentiful Fish platter that we sampled. We booked the Valentine special menu and every course was delightful and deliicious. It was great to see that the price of food was excellent value for money and not overpriced as we have found in other Inns. I can't praise the staff enough as they were so helpful and worked hard to ensure we had an excellent stay with them. Sharon and Jo as well as the other staff were a credit to the Cornishman inn and clearly care about the businese as much as the owner. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Quirky lovely hotel. It’s ran on few staff, the guy behind the bar handled everything in his stride even when the place is busy, and the soda machine is temperamental.
We had a table for dinner reserved, the staff were helpful, the tables were over sanitised and needed a re-varnish which is planned for winter months as they feel sticky but the meal was great, and good menu options.
The rooms we had were clean and well presented, I thought this hotel had better decor than other places when I searched for a hotel, and the best location. The only issues were the king bed wood frame sticks out and my calf got a huge bruise, we stuck cushions on the corners so we didn’t walk into them so much. Headboard was lovely but pointy. Our other room had a key that didn’t lock or unlock easily unless a strong guy in the case of our party, but we updated the hotel team so hopefully that’s sorted soon. We had one room that was right by the bar, it seemed a little extra being so close to people but with a closed window we didn’t have a noise issue, only thing we did hear was the hum from the generator right beside our room, but we slept fine and had a little fan going due to the heatwave in our room anyway. The room did have some damp patches and areas in need of a redecorate but generally the room was good. One of the glasses had lipstick on so there was that, but nothing to drastic. We slept well. Tea and coffee supplies were good. Breakfast was good, the childrens portions were a touch too big and it would have been nice to have a menu to order from rather than a spoken list you had to remember. Also the lady came to take the order when I wasn’t at the table. As mum I was ordering for me and the children so kind of important I was there, other than that I wasn’t too disappointed. I like good service but I think with the low staff numbers they did valiantly. Breakfast starting at 8.30 is a little late for us but I worked ok. Check out there was no one around but the chef came and said a nice goodbye when I called.

Locally Tintagel castle is wonderful, lots of steps though, it’s a hike. We went in a really hot day but loved it. There is a Range Rover taxi service you can buy to get up and down to the hill to the entrance and visitor centre, cafe and toilets. It was fab. Careful of seagulls they will sneak attack for food your child is holding. Little shops in the town are cute and have yummy ice cream. Local premier and spa shops are good if you need waters and snacks etc.

Hi there. I visted herewith my wife a couple days ago , first time in cornwall so we had no idea what to expect. We checked in just after 4 reserved a table shared a half lobster which was fanstatic. We started to olan our next day round cornwall so we asked the bar lady on any recomendations on the area she explained she wasnt from cornwall and had been here for about a year but tolf us some beautiful locations she had been with her child. By yhe time we were eating dessert (lemon tart was great) this kind barmaid and gone online and asked a few people at the bar in places to do and things available due to covid and wrote it all down with numbers infonation on directions! How nice was that? We could see she was busy! The next day she remebered us and asked about our day and we really felt so important at this place! This lady couldnt say enough about the okace and how great her new manager was and team, i think this is what its really all about. When you see someone so enthusiast about there role its truly an experience. The church walk is long but would do again, the castle was great too. The location of the olace is right in the highstreet so you can see around easily. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and it was different girl serving breakfast but she seemed happy. Only down side is that i couldnt park in the car park on arrival but we were late and the place was busy so we understand. Cant wait to book next year with loads of friends

Thankyou to the team here and thankyou to the barmaid that evening

The Cornishmam Inn had the perfect location right in the heart of Tintagel with a large free on-site car park.
The accommodation was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The pub has a proper country pub feel and served well made tasty food and a good selection of drinks.
The staff were so friendly and helpful I really can't praise them enough especially in this difficult time for small businesses.
Well done keep up the great work.
Would definitely stay again.

Booked via Booking.com 6 weeks before travelling & received a call 2 days before stay for them to cancel our room - in the end they agreed we could stay as they could accommodate COVID rules.

Checked in at 6pm room was freezing & generally dated but only needed the one night so put up with it

My breakfast was ok but my wife’s vegetarian breakfast was poor & looked like it was anything vegetarian they had in the kitchen

Saving grace was service was good & having eaten here in the past I know the food is ok so maybe down to reopening after lockdown
