We offer bed and breakfast, plus dinner on request, in three lovely boutique rooms. Guests also have sole use of a large lounge/dining room, with beautiful views across the garden and Dartmoor. We are in a beautiful location within the Dartmoor National Park, and are an excellent base from which to explore Dartmoor, Devon and Cornwall.

The Old Vicarage is a wonderful Victorian building, in a marvellous position in the Dartmoor National Park. It has been beautifully adapted for contemporary life, and yet retains its magnificent architecture and character. The porch and the staircase are especially impressive. The bedroom where we stayed was lovely. It is spacious, light and airy, with marvellous views and the attractive garden in the foreground. It is very well equipped, with a comfortable bed, and an excellent en suite shower room. We appreciated the tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was certainly plentiful , with a very wide range of choices, many locally produced. We both enjoyed it very much, and we felt a very small lunch was all we needed afterwards. All in all, we decided that this was one of the best one night stays we had experienced. It is a beautiful location and a fascinating house, but the warm welcome and the generous hospitality ensured that this was the case.…

This Old Vicarage is in a magnificent position in the Dartmoor National Park, and is a superb example of Victorian architecture sympathetically restored for contemporary life. We had a lovely bedroom, with a beautiful view, the garden providing a very impressive foreground. The room was attractively furnished, with a very comfortable bed, and an excellent en suite shower room. We appreciated the excellent tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast downstairs was certainly plentiful, and we were offered a large range of choices. It made a splendid start to the day, such that lunch was hardly necessary after such generous provision. All in all, it was one of the best overnight stays we have so far had. A very warm welcome, generous hospitality, a lovely room in a wonderful house and an excellent breakfast all combined to substantiate this impression.…

Very characterful accommodation in quiet village setting. Owners could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Excellent food and value for money. The room we had was extremely comfortable with a large ensuite and views across to Plymouth sound

We had a wonderful time in the lovely old vicarage. Liz and Don are so friendly, helpful and excellent cooks. We loved our breakfasts and dinners. There is a variety of great walks nearby, without any need to drive. We have had three stays in the old vicarage so far. Loved it! Excellent experience.

I live in the village and booked the three rooms for relatives. This is a beautifully restored and cared for old vicarage. They had a wonderful stay and were well looked after with a delicious breakfast. Thank you!

From the moment we arrived Liz and Don couldn’t do enough for us. They have the most beautiful home and we were made so welcome with offers of tea as soon as we set foot in the door. We were in Shaugh Prior to see close friends performing at the pub down the road and chose to stay at The Vicarage. Our room was stunning with everything you could think of including a lovely basket of shampoo/conditioner/ shower soap, tissue etc. Sadly for me, I suffered a serious migraine in the night and was quite poorly the following morning. Liz was just wonderful and couldn’t be more helpful to make sure I had everything I needed for our journey home. She even gave us a thermal mug of coffee to take in the car. We will definitely return in the New Year as we were gutted to miss out on the most incredible breakfast and I highly recommend to anyone who wants a weekend away on the doorstep of Dartmoor. Thank you both so much and see you again! …

We had a fantastic couple of nights staying here with our three girls. Liz and Don are great hosts and the food was delicious! The house is so peaceful and relaxing - even though storms were raging outside, we all slept brilliantly. For wet weather options, we recommend Buckland Abbey (National Trust, home is Sir Francis Drake) and the Life Centre for swimming. Hope to be back again soon!

We've just returned from a long weekend at the Old Vicarage. Liz and Don are wonderful hosts - together with their Collie, Arfur of course - cannot fault the service and great breakfasts.... far too much fantastic food on offer each morning. Very secluded spot but with wonderful views and plenty to see on their doorstep. Regrettably we didn't have the weather but that wasn't Liz and Don's fault!
