The White Hart Hotel is a Public House which boasts 55 newly refurbished en-suite bedrooms (October 2015). All are non-smoking and inclusive of full English breakfast and FREE PARKING. (THE HOTEL CARPARK DOES NOT EXCEPT LWB Vans, Large vehicles, Campers & large commercial vehicles. The hotel is an old 'Coaching Inn' built in 1356! And is situated in the City Centre within the old city walls. There was an extension built on the back for 32 of the rooms in 1971 (These rooms have lift access). However the remainder rooms including the suite are located in the 'Old Part' above the Inn (These involve stairs and no lifts.) This part is a 'listed'property as the building is an 'historical place of interest' due to its part in Medievil history. The Pub boasts a large 'Chargrill Menu' concentrating on Steaks, Burgers & traditional pub classics to suit all tastes. There are 2 bars. The 'Tap Bar' is open 7 days a week and is traditional 'Olde Worlde' pub still with all the Medieval fixtures & fittings that has lots of fine Real Ales to choose from. And a 'Cider Bar' that opens at weekends and was newly refurbished in October 2015 & is where breakfast is served every morning. The pub also boasts an exclusive 'Secret Garden' very popular with couples. It's ideally situated to enjoy all the city has to offer, from its famous Gothic Cathedral, The Quay & the Princesshay shopping centre.
Worth 5 stars but on this visit we were given one of the older rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of character. Free parking. A great restaurant. We stay here twice a year on our way to Cornwall.
It is a value budget hotel and really one can't complain at that. We had a twin 208 which overlooks the car park and for that reason one of the quietest they have. Nonetheless the traffic does intrude due to poor insulation- single glazed old metal windows. Ours had a broken catch as well which meant it slightly fell down. The room was okay perfectly functional but only one bedside table though plenty of room for two. The carpet had dirty marks and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. But the beds are okay and the ensuite was a fair size with a decent enough shower and for one night it did the job. Staff are friendly and the free parking is great. My partner had breakfast which he enjoyed though we were not in to the pub menu in the evening. We went to the Greek restaurant across the road, Opa. It's very good. We wouldn't return as the Holiday Inn, Jury Inn etc etc are just so much cleaner and you can be assured of a quiet night. But if you do come here you will survive without assault to your wallet.
Stayed here for one night on 30th November so we could visit the Christmas market. We arrived earlier than expected so our room wasn’t ready but we were told we could still park our car in the car park for free. When we checked in later the same friendly lady was still on reception she gave us our key and told us how to get to our room, we had asked for a quiet room and that’s exactly what we got. We were on the top floor room 409 which has lift access so no problems if you have difficulty with stairs. The room was lovely, a fair size with a huge bathroom. Tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water are included in the room, with free WiFi throughout the building. The cathedral where the Christmas market was based was a 5 minute walk away so the hotel is in a perfect location. We had a very comfortable night. The breakfast was very good, as well as a choice of cooked there was also cereals, yogurt, fruit, toast and cakes, with as much tea/coffee and juice as you wanted. We checked out at 10am, normal check out is 11am, we were told we could leave our car in the car park until 4pm which is another bonus if like us you want to check out abit more of Exeter. Thank you White Hart hotel for making our Christmas market stay so enjoyable. We will definitely stay here again if we come to Exeter for a stay over.
Stayed overnight to do some daytime Christmas shopping and to pay an evening visit to the Christmas Markets. The room was a good size and lovely and warm, the ensuite was massive with a lovely bath. Water and biscuits provided in the room. Despite a very busy night with a shorage of staff the hotel coped very well and remained friendly throughout. Breakfast was good. Continental and cooked breakfast were provided all good quality and we'll cooked. All in all a good stay. I must make a special mention to a lovely lady called Lynn who looked after us very well despite her working late on Friday she was all smiles at breakfast. Thank you.
