The Bath Hotel is a family run, quirky hotel overlooking the harbour in the picturesque village of Lynmouth, where Exmoor meets the sea. It has been in the same family since 1951. We are perfectly situated just minutes away from the South West Coast Path and the famous Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway. We have 20 comfortable and quintessentially eclectic en-suite rooms, the majority with sea views. With residents bar, onsite restaurant and award winning bar and restaurant, The Ancient Mariner which offers a wide selection of locally sourced food and drink in a gorgeous setting, we are the perfect base from which to explore all that Exmoor has to offer.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I like to try different places off season for short breaks and this time it was at this hotel in Lynmouth. We stayed two nights on a deal, which included breakfast and dinner + a bottle of wine on the first night. There were only a couple of us staying, but the staff didn’t skimp on service or making us feel welcome. We stayed in a quirky room, The Fernery, which was small but of a high standard in decor and facilities. Plus we had a view over the harbour. Their adjoining pub was very cosy and full of atmosphere with a group of locals in each night. They also made us feel welcome. The breakfasts set us up until dinner. The dinner portions were large, but excellent. I can imagine Lynmouth is heaving and noisy in the summer, but we would definitely go back to this hotel for another relaxing short break off season.

A wonderful 2 night stay. Chose the sea view Suite option, which was well worth the supplement. Excellent breakfast and dinner - almost too generous! Well priced wines, sprits and beers. Comfy lounge for pre-drinks with an open wood fire. Well appointed spacious suite room, and a lovely bath/shower en-suite. We will recommend to friends, and plan a re-visit for 2024.

I booked a stay here to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday and she fell in love with the place. The location is beautiful, the rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean, the food is fantastic and the staff are amazing. Thanks to everyone at the Bath Hotel for making my Mum's day special!

Popped in for soup which was very good with light, fresh bread. The sandwich was average and could do with a thicker slice of cheese given the thickness of the bread. Very busy at lunchtime. Good location.

So disappointed as not really a hotel experience - more like an air bnb linked to a bar and restaurant. Staff in bar, room, view and food excellent. But room not cleaned or tidied, no fresh towels nor beverages, no staff available in hotel and lounge was freezing (even during a wild day outside). For this price it should be an hotel experience. Rising Sun next time! PS I did convey my feedback verbally and in writing but absolutely no response hence this review. Lots of positive aspects just beware!

Excellent hotel in all respects, location, service, food and rooms. We had the artist suite with the balcony, it was brilliant as we had the best weather so really enjoyed sitting on there watching Lynmouth go by. We took our dog and he was made very welcome. Will be returning one day highly reccommend *****

We were not staying at the hotel & actually wanted to eat at The Ancient Mariner, which is part of the Bath Hotel. Sadly, they do not take bookings. We opted therefore, because we could book a table, to eat at the Bath Hotel’s restaurant. Easy to make an online reservation. A varied menu, catering for all tastes. We shared the pate starter. The only thing I would say is - make your own. Don’t buy in industrial slabs of pate! The seafood tagliatelle & the venison were both lovely - lots of flavour, well-presented and hot. We would recommend eating here.

An excellent hotel, well worth staying, the rooms are pleasant with modern bathrooms with ample hot water, breakfast was also excellent and the staff very efficient. Great night in the bar of the pub which is part of the hotel on Thursdays for sea shanties! We ate in one night and the food was spot on.

Waited 40 minutes for starter to arrive. Second course arrived quickly but the venison was tough and chewy although my wife’s chicken was “okay”. Both of us had overcooked veg, were disappointed in the whole evening and didn’t stay for a dessert. Could have spent my £48 better elsewhere.

Lovely stay for anniversary. Reception was unmanned when we got there but keys left for us to take and plenty of staff in resturant next door. Room was clean and spacious. We opted for a superior suite and it didn't disappoint. View where breath taking and the area is lovely. The evening meal was perfect smoke duck filled by steak perfectly cooked and a Bailey's cheesecake for me. The Mrs had scallops seared just right and not overdone followed by venison that melted in the mouth and then a chocolate and orange tart. The pub next door was also really nice we ended up there after a brief tour of the other pubs. Staff on the night where helpful and not to over attentive. The only slight criticism I had was the bed was extremely soft but this was a personal preference. All in all I would not hesitate to stay again.
