Detailed Reviews
We booked as we wanted to get away locally and to see some National Trust places on the way and while there.
The area is great for walks along the beautiful coast or countryside Lynton itself is well positioned for that as is this guest house.
There is no parking here but we where well aware of that before we went. There is some limited street parking. We used the car park which is very close by and only £5 a day (Top tip use the ring go parking app as it’s easy to manage)
Mark and Kate run a lovely modern B&B and are very welcoming friendly hosts, Oh and great communication before we arrived.
It’s exceptionally clean and well decorated. We had a suite with a view from the veranda overlooking the valley ( see photos) In the room we had the usual tea and coffee facilities, an iron, TV and hair dryer. The bathroom was a good size with a bath and a fab shower.
For the record Covid arrangements where spot on and not intrusive with lower guest numbers, staggered breakfasts and track and trace etc.
Marks breakfast was superb cooked to order and perfect with choices of a great full English or lighter alternatives such as scrambled egg with salmon. (We particularly liked the use of bottles and jars reducing waste) There was a lot of choice including the usual fruit , yogurts, pastries and croissants, cereal etc and orange juice on the table
A nice touch is the honesty bar - just take wine etc for your room and write in the book
So in summary this is a fabulous Guest house well positioned for local restuarants, shops, walks and sights and certainly one to return to👍 Thankyou for a lovely comfortable restful stay

Lovely place for a relaxing mini break. It is conveniently located for pottering around Lynton and Lynmouth, walking and exploring local areas including the stunning Valley of Rocks, Watersmeet and pretty Exmoor villages.
We stayed 3 nights in Suite 1, it has a spacious and light bedroom, bathroom and living room, all very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It also has a balcony, a nice place to sit and relax.
Breakfast was very enjoyable, there was a choice of good quality produce. The hot breakfast was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection by Mark.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Mark was very welcoming and we would highly recommend Castle Hill Guest House.

We have just returned home from a wonderful 3 night stay at The Castle Hill Guest House in Lynton. The location for visiting the area is perfect. It's close to shops, pubs and restaurants and the Victorian cliff railway to take you down to Lynmouth. We stayed in Suite 2 which had a good-sized bedroom, bathroom and small lounge with TV, DVD player and a balcony. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate are provided in the room with fresh milk available from the bar area. The owner mark provided an excellent breakfast every day with cereals, fruit and the full English. There is a comfortable lounge with a good selection of books and DVDs to borrow. The small bar has an honesty book where you can serve yourself with wine, beer or soft drinks. The current Covid regulations are followed impeccably making your visit feel very safe. We highly recommend.

We decided to return to Castle Hill as we felt that it would be a safe place to go as we were slowly coming out of lockdown and we'd been 4 times before. Kate and Mark were very welcoming and had made sure all the covid requirements were in place so we felt relaxed as soon as we arrived. Our room was as clean and homely as expected and we felt safe to go out exploring.
Breakfasts are always delicious and social distancing was observed by staggering when each group arrived in the dining hall.
Lots to do in and around Lynton and Lynmouth and brilliant for walking around the Valley of the Rocks and we saw the goats which is always a novelty!. Watersmeet is another beautiful walk through forest and streams. A lovely zigzag walk down to Lynmouth, where the water powered cliff railway can be viewed at several points is a must. Or you can travel up and down on the train (must be done at least once)
Castle Hill is well situated in the heart of Lynton . Lovely places to eat in the evening. Our favourite was the Oak Room Tapas bar which never disappoints, 5 minute walk from Castle Hill .
We highly recommend Castle Hill as a great Guest House and the surrounding area is just spectacular. We will be returning.

We booked into this hotel this afternoon and it is one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in and we’ve been to a few! We have a suite with a balcony that is clean comfortable & tastefully decorated. The price was very reasonable. Lynton is also a lovely place to stay, lots of places to eat and quirky shops ad galleries. Even with the pouring rain we’ve had a lovely time.

We highly recommend Castle Hill Guest House for a stay in Lynton. The accommodation was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Kate and Mark are excellent hosts and have hospitality and service just right. We felt very safe and appreciated all their efforts regarding Covid restrictions. Well done and we hope to see you on a future trip to the area.

We stayed here at the end of June and can't wait to return. There are plenty of places to park nearby and to be honest we didn't use the car once as there is so much nearby. The rooms are well equipped and spacious with lovely bathrooms. After the best breakfast we have had in ages, hats off to you there Mark, we walked down to the harbour and along the river, a pint on the harbour front and up the funicular and along the coast path to the Valley of the Rocks. The scenery was so stunning we practically did the same the next day taking in Watersmeet this time. The shops and studios are all independent and worth a browse and the meals we had at the Vanilla Pod and the Old Bank were excellent. The Castle Hill Guest House and Lynton should be on everyone's staycation bucketlist.

very clean and a great breakfast. Defintley go again and you must make a viset to Watersmeet, one of the most stunning places to see in the UK.
Lynton is the quiter of the two, Lynmouth is down the bottom of the cable car, nice but every restaruant booked for two weeks.
Great place for Exmoor, walks and drive along the coast.
