We were looking for a weeks break in this area. We tried to book a lodge but they were fully booked but we were able to have a caravan. We were told at the very beginning that these caravans were old and very basic but spotlessly clean. The price was good so we booked and weren’t disappointed. Yes, they are old and basic but they are spotlessly clean. No microwave but other than that the kitchen was very well supplied with pots, pans, glasses and cutlery. I wasn’t missing a thing. I paid £15 for one weeks WiFi connection and it worked fine.
Oodles of hot water for washing and showering, it isn’t a strong shower but it did the job and there’s a radiator in the main bedroom to take the chill off at night. The beds were very comfortable and very clean. The gas fire in the lounge kept us warm, although you do need to light it with a match.
It’s surrounded by wonderful walks and if, like us you don’t want to drive to have a drink, there is an excellent Thai restaurant and micro brewery right next door, or you can walk into Lynmouth via a footpath. It takes about fifteen minutes. There’s a sharp steep climb at the beginning but then it’s on the flat. We are getting on a bit but found it quite easy.
The site itself is kept to a high standard, very pretty and Covid restrictions were adhered to. The staff were lovely, very friendly and welcoming. I felt that Sunny Lyn was great value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you for a great stay, Sunny Lyn.

We received a friendly welcome from the warden on arrival and give us an information pack with local maps of food and drink venues and things to do. We had a riverside pitch which was lovely. Just about squeezed our 7m motorhome onto it!

The grounds are well looked after.

We bought a 10m tv cable so we could watch TV. Even though some channels on the planner said no information, I clicked on them and it gave me a programme.
There is an undercover washing up area with 2 sinks with washing up liquid provided.

Nicely refurbished shower block. Only 2 showers in the ladies, 4 toilets and 3 basins. The shower was push button and didnt give you a huge amount of time, it was also a bit low pressured - I had to get very close to the control panel to get wet! There were 2 hairdryers – remember to bring your 50p’s! It gave sufficient time for me to blow dry my hair. Gents area had 2 showers, 2 urinals and 2 WC’s. When the campsite is at full capacity with tents and campers, I think there would be a bit of a wait?!?!?!

We walked down the main road into Lynmouth with a 25% drop. There were 3 escape routes. Dont take your motorhome down that way! We took the easier route back up via the Funicular railway which was about £3 each way.

The 309 / 310 bus runs hourly from Lynton to Barnstaple and it was £5.65 adult return. The journey took about 1 hour through some pretty but VERY narrow villages. The skill of the bus drivers is great with only inches to spare without touching the houses!

The campsite is set in a valley so be prepared to work your legs hard to get around by
foot. We walked around Valley of the Rocks which has some stunning coastline.

We had a lovely meal in the Ancient Mariners pub in Lynmouth – huge fish and chips!

We last visited the area more than 16 years ago and actually stayed in the B&B which is now the Thai restaurant! It was lovely to return to the area and wont leave it so long next time. We will stay at Sunny Lynn again too.

We have just had a lovely week in the Valley Vista Lodge. It was welcoming, clean, warm and cosy. Everything in the lodge worked and was easy to operate.
In these COVID times we felt very safe and it was clearly apparent that the staff had made every effort to clean and disinfect every where. In these awful times this is a massive plus.
A great location in a great area

Well worth a visit

The location of this site is perfect for exploring around lynton and lynmouth, it’s 15 minutes walk into lynton. We did a walk to watersmeet from the campsite over the bridge before the pub and then got the railway back up after seeing Lynmouth. The campsite itself is fairly sheltered from wind and it’s a beautiful valley that it’s in. We were on a gravel pitch opposite reception and they are nice and big and near the toilets.
The facilities are ok clean but the showers are a bit 80’s
Pub at the bottom is nice we didn’t eat there, only serves Thai food but good own brew bitter and lager.
Wouldn’t hesitate to return so we can explore the area more. Be warned there is no phone signal or 3G on the campsite at all. We had to rely on going to the pub to get any!

We were travelling on the SWCP with a backpacking tent. Arriving after closure of the reception we were pleased to find our pre-booked pitch was clearly identified. Lots of space between pitches. In the morning we asked to book a second night and the staff were very accommodating and fitted us in without fuss.
Staff and owners are extremely friendly, helpful and professional.
Newly refurbished toilet and shower block is spotless.
The breakfasts served in the on site cafe are delicious and excellent value.
We really enjoyed our stay on this site. Having camped at many sites, we can say this is one of the best. We certainly plan to return to this campsite and explore more of the surrounding area.
The site is very close to Lynmouth which we explored as an added bonus to our trip

My husband, my dog and myself have just returned from a lovely week at Sunny Lyn where we stayed in one of the lovely holiday lodges. The accommodation was of a very high standard, spotlessly clean and very well equipped for a self catering stay. The bed linen was pristine, the general decor was tasteful and beautifully presented throughout. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food at the onsite breakfast cafe was delicious and very good value for money. The campsite was very well thought out and every facility was available. The nearby Cottage Inn was lovely and adjoining Nartnapa Thai Restaurant served delicious food with outside seating and all dog friendly. We loved the woodland setting, with the sound of the river flowing and the birds singing in the trees and lots of peace and quiet time spent relaxing on our balcony with a lovely valley view. Lots to do in Lynton and Lynmouth, lovely shops, places to eat, boat trips, cream teas, the lovely Valley of the Rocks and many more. We were very sorry to have to come home and would stay again!

This is our third stay having stayed in lodges before and loving the location and set up. We recently purchased a MH and were keen to come back. We were not disappointed. The facilities are fab and the newly refurbished bathrooms are top notch (although the shower running for just 20 seconds longer would make them absolutely perfect). The fully serviced pitch was 10/10 with lots of space and and easy set up!

The onsite cafe food was great and good value.

The location is just perfect with the river running through, woodland location with a short (steep) walk in to lynton and lynmouth nice and easily. you can track from the site to watersmeet (6 miles ish) and the pub with Thai restaurant just off site is super handy (and tasty).

The staff were more than welcoming and really lovely. We hadn't had much interaction on pervious visits as covid was still at large but they can do enough. They were so good with our little one who has quite a large personality at 10 months already 🤣.

We can't wait to come back again, and again as we love it here. Thank you!

This is the second time we have stayed at Sunny Lyn, the first time was just before lock down when we had a fantastic four nights.
This time was even better, with newly fitted out shower rooms and our stay was helped by super weather.
The site is smallish but set in a beautiful valley, with a small river running at the side. There is an on site cafe selling great breakfast’s but was only open at the weekend. The staff are really friendly and can’t do enough for you
There is a pub right next door which is also a Thai restaurant serving delicious Thai food. Lynton is a 15 minute walk away, with a 100m uphill section to start, and the same coming back. Lynton has a few pubs, mini markets, really good cafe’s & restaurants an hotels, all crammed into a small town, with a funicular railway down to Lynmouth.
The area is great for walking but also has a local taxi firm who were very cheap and reliable

Located next to a beautiful river, this campsite is in the perfect location for exploring the area around Lynton and Lynmouth. Ground was soft, perfect for pitching the tent. Staff were very friendly and communal areas seemed very clean. Would definitely recommend!

We booked by phone which was easy, very friendly lady in the phone.
Arrived and was shown efficiently where our pitch was.
Parked up and pitched no problem .
Toilets spotless
Showers (just 2 on site for ladies, 2 in the gents) spotless, good temp, so nice to have a separate area within the shower area to hang your towel etc, plus a seat.
Pitch clean and tidy. There are 2 hairdryers in the area, need 50ps to use them.
Shop adequate
Onsite cafe open 8.30 - 10.30am, spanking, good priced breakfast.
Great walk for dogs, very close to site, off lead which is great.
All in all, good, clean, friendly site.
Would recommend.

They do not have disabled toilet and shower facilities onsite but do have a disabled access lodge, which does have a disabled en suite washroom. Hope this is of some help.

If you mean the static ones, then yes. There are electric hookup points for tourers.

Thanks for the question. If you are camping or in a touring caravan or motorhome the departure time is 11am. If you are staying in one of our static caravans, apartments or holiday lodges then the departure time is 10am. We are always willing to discuss our guests individual needs if there is a reason to delay departure, but arriving guests who are filling in the vacancy you will be leaving have to be taken into account. Further details are on our own web site. regards Lynne & Chris
