We have just spent a week at Southcliffe. We had a double ensuite on the top floor which was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower is powerful and hot. We pre ordered breakfast every evening and you can have as much as you like. Bacon sandwiches are also on the menu! Perfectly cooked eggs and lovely fresh fruit salad every day. We were made extremely welcome and met with a smile every morning. Lynton and Lynmouth itself is a stunning location. Be prepared for some very steep hills though. Some nice shops and pubs.. You do need to book tables well in advance though. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We stayed here last week and had a fantastic time. Jane and Charlie were incredible hosts and made a real effort to be welcoming. The B&B itself is very nice with a great location only a few minutes walk to all the local shops and restaurants in Lynton. The breakfasts are very good and have a good variety and just what you need before a big walk along the coast! We got engaged on a walk when we were there and mentioned it in a passing comment at breakfast time, then when we got back later that day found out that Charlie and Jane had got us a bottle of prosecco and truffles to congratulate us, which was so unexpected and nice! Overall I would and have recommended the b&b to family and friends and the area as a whole is stunning and well worth a visit.

We booked directly a few months in advance paying a deposit and advised the B&B what time we planned to arrive within the designated times as requested. When we parked the car at the front of property at the time agreed and knocked on the door a couple of times we were surprised that there was no one around to greet us. We tried to call but there was no answer. After at least 10 mins the door was eventually answered and we were met by Charlie who we felt treated us like unwelcome pests. When we said we were there to check in, he advised that check in wasn’t until 4pm and was dismissive and rude when I tried to explain what our booking confirmation stated and said he didn’t have time to discuss the matter as he was in the middle of an emergency. Unfortunately this now left us with nowhere to park the car as he explained it was their policy not to allow guests to park prior to check in time. Anyway he reluctantly agreed for us to park the car at the back of the property possibly in a bid to get rid of us. When we were walking back from the car, we were surprised to be met by Charlie again who asked if we could start again. He admitted losing our booking confirmation e-mail and now accepted that we were right about the check in time and said we could check in after all. This meant retrieving our luggage from the car which was now parked some way from the property. He introduced us to his wife Jane and friendly dog Peanut, Jane went through the check in procedure with us explaining breakfast etc and we went up to our room which was ready. The B&B, room and breakfast were all fine. Parking – they have 7 letting rooms and only 5 spaces available on a first come first served basis. Just be aware that some of the spaces at the front are quite difficult to get into if a car is already parked up. Lynton and Lynmouth were both lovely with lots to do and see particularly if you like walking. We would visit again but wouldn’t stay at this property because we like to support businesses that actually want us as guest and do not treat us as an inconvenience.
